What are you using to attempt to flash? AFUWIN, USB with RUFUS, or something else?

@Scerate on Dicord said "is there a "MESET.exe" in the official bios? Maybe you have to use that first, cause that makes the ME part writeable".

I'm not certain what the MESET.exe even is though.

Yeah from what I've read. It make the BIOS writable. I'm away from my X5 at the moment. Have you tried to extract the bios.rom file? Or download a fresh bios from Aorus and see if a MESET file is included?

I've been looking at the X5 v7 but the resolution of 3k is such a turn off and wished they had multiple choices for screens. I like the x5 MD but I don't want a 4k screen on a 15"

ya, I honestly can't tell what's worse, a 3K screen with it's 'odd' resolution, or the 4k screen which is an unnecessary battery drain and difficult for AAA titles to run smoothly on (albeit gsync helps here with the latter, and at least it's 4:1 pixel ratio should make it a better experience to play at 1080.... though I almost always play on an external monitor anyway).

Yeap, I'm willing to give Aorus my money but it seems like they don't want it for some unknown reason. I tend to use my laptops screen when I'm using it, been doing a bad job at convincing my GF to let me bring a 25" monitor to use at her apartment. Thought of updated MSI GS73VR 1070 but no G-sync on the screen. Guess you can't have your cake and eat it too.

How often should I repast with Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut ?
Is there any risk to leave it for months ? Is it easy to clean ? :)

Had that issue. Is it where it shows the app starting but just crashed after a few minutes? If so, close everything that you have running, launch it and leave it alone. Dont click or do anything when the app is loading. I got mine to work that way

Sorry mate. Just came back from frisbee pickup. Has the method worked for you?

uploaded to google drive. Some of my drivers have been taken from the OEMs themselves like Killer and Nvdia. Gonna try the new C&C later

    Hi guys,
I'm having a serious issue with my x5v7 and this community seems to be informed and active.
The issue is that even on stock clock speeds and at idle, I have the current limit that throttles my cpu to its minimum frequency (on ThrottleStop this would be the "EDP other" error). Setting higher current limit values for CPU, Cache and Supervisor has zero impact even at absurdly high limits. The system idles around 45C while still throttling so there is no way this actually is a current problem.

I updated various stuff (including BIOS) as I just received the unit so the cause could be everywhere. I really fear that the hardware (power regulation or current sensor) was somehow damaged.

    Here's what I already tried:
    - flash the old bios -> made no difference
    - reset win power settings -> made no difference
    - use different oc programs (xtu,ts,...) for overclocking and monitoring -> all show the same current limitation
    - re-install intel drivers (both) -> still the same
    - unplug supply -> same behavior on battery

I am open to any suggestion to what I could possibly troubleshoot next. However, I am still covered by the warranty and will not do any hardware modifications.
Is there any chance I damaged the chip trying to overclock it (xtu) ? I didn't touch the hardware.

I really appreciate any advice! Thanks in advance

    EDIT:
Found the solution and it is rather intriguing. It seems that the fan profile selection has a huge impact on performance EVEN WITHOUT thermal throttleing. I suppose that there are some weird stuff going on with the cc software that externally limits the current depending on the fan profile. The impact is hunge! In silent and without thermal throttling I get 800 xtu score whereas on full speed it reaches 1380 on the same overclocking profile! Is this just me or is there weird stuff going on?

    Edit2:
Aorus is really crippleing the mobo current capabilities in silent (and normal) profile. That's amazing that they don't specify that. What else do they not tell us. Using custom profiles circumvents the problem with zero throttleing. I use deep control for operation now. What a joke. Has anyone figured any alternative fan control software so I can remove this trashware from my system?

Can someone please do a firestrike run with the CPU and GPU overclocked as high as possible and compare it with this? This is the x5 MD with the GPU overclocked and the CPU at stock clocks. This is pathetic - the power supply is nowhere near enough to power this GPU and the CPU. I have a feeling that the x5 v6 can outperform this thing...

Have you got the link to your submitted firestrike score?

What did you overclock the cpu/gpu with? XTU and afterburner or just the command and control app?

Damn that's some respectable results. I assume you repasted both cpu + gpu (liquid metal?). Did you also change your psu? Do you have some xtu/afterburner profiles to share?

Here are my results. Still running on stock hardware and this is my first serious attempt at overclocking :)

Hey @Flux42 , that's not a bad result. Which GPU is that?

Mine is all on stock paste with stock psu.

To be fair I have no real knowledge of overclocking and just 'played' with the setting in XTU until it was stable in the stress test @ 4.2Ghz. I used Nvidia inspector to overclock my GTX 1070 and I think the offsets were around +150 on the core and +80 on memory.

My GPU doesn't appear to benefit much from memory clocks increases, but I may be doing something wrong being a noob.

    Hi,
I'm just trying out stuff myself. The hardware is stock x5v7 so gtx 1070. I can only reach +105 on the gpu clock. Maybe just bad luck. Also my CPU throttles like crazy (temps) even if I can get it to run up to 4.5 4.4 4.3 4.3 at -60mV. Maybe also bad luck with the pasting job.

Are your core temps even or within 5*C of each other?

If not I'd ask for an RMA. If they are then I'd recommend repasting asap.

Command and control. It's hitting the power limit, so it won't matter what I use. But I am going to try and under volt so I can get some more room. I don't think it'll get 4000 points though.... I'll link it when I resume testing later tonight.

This is the worst it gets during a stress test. Only one core smeems to be better cooled than the others. I have no idea if this is a defect but I do not suppose that this is enough for RMA. Although I find it astonishing that I'm the only one here who's thermally limited.

That's most likely but I am not sure I want to void the warranty yet. Plus the cooling looks more complex to replace than on the v6 with a lot of secondary IC which are also cooled. Also I did remove the power and current limitations in xtu which is maybe not the best approach...

I dont think removing your cooler for a repaste voids your warranty as long as you dont break anything inside. Thats what my reseller told me for my X7 though so i'm not too sure what yours would say

    Any pics of the inside?

Here you go. The thermal shot was taken with the cores around 95°C. I'm not a expert in thermal engineering but to me it looks like they forgot to paste the CPU :)

Try tightening the heatsink a tad bit more. If not i really suggest a cooler removal to see if the paste job is even on there
