I think it's going to be between 2500-3000. Especially with the new 980 card I can't imagine them making it cheaper than their 970 sli version. I have a feeling it will be pricey... seeing as my current Alienware was 3500 I am ok with that. As long as it's a solid machine.

Just saw an aorus rep on their forums say this regarding the large amounts of comments about the dt specs not being up to snuff against the releasing competition:
"Holy speculation batman!
Just remember that only a few photos and a video have been circulating and that is in no way official proof of the final specifications on our new models.
Don't jump the gun until our official press releases and announcements for the new generation, believe me i'll be the first to want to talk about them, at the moment i'm unable to as I am sworn to secrecy.
Please look forward to it!
Thank you for your feedback and support, I find it comforting that our user base cares enough to give us their upfront, honest opinions, keep it up!

This means a few things:
1. The final model may have some surprising upgrades to the test model
2. Press release soon.
3. There are more models being introduced at the press release (please see 2nd link)

It's true- we're speculating on an unreleased model.
But, if Aorus still doesn't have final specs yet, they would be smart to listen to the people that want to buy their product
I hope it doesn't take forever to materialize like the X5, and that it's price is reasonable. Given that versions of Clevo's and Alienware's have 970m's for ~350$ per unit (from what I can gather- and that may be very wrong, I don't know), which is inline with the desktop 970, and that it's rougly ~300$ to updgrade to the 980m on Clevo's, we may be looking around 800$ a card. (A healthy ~150$ increase over the 980m). If 2 970's do cost ~700$, the pricing may be similar (+100-200$) to the current X7 Pro G-sync for a single card version.
As for the power of the single card 980, nVidia went to great lengths to stress how the mobile-desktop version can overclock just like the desktop version- so Aorus may need to figure out a new way to keep 980 cool. I'm not entirely convinced that just swapping out 2 970m's and swapping in a 980 to the exact same chassis with minor modifications would work well. Then again, I am just commenting from a couch before I go to sleep and I am sure they'll do their due diligence.

Also I had an email convo with a few aorus reps, they wouldn't say anything specific but they are refreshing the X5 with skylake/usb 3.1 type c either Q4 or early Q1 2016

If it's months behind the clevo and msi variants they're missing the bus

I was wondering if this model will support Nvidia Optimus (graphics switching to integrated). Was held back from buying aorus before because of the poor battery life as a result of Optimus not being supported on SLI.
If this laptop has 4-5 hours of battery life for browsing then I would definitely be sold. (Not unreasonable considering 70Wh battery, especially of the CPU would turn out to be skylake).
Now that I am writing this textwall anyways, how loud is the fan noise on the x7 / x5 Sync in idle? And how annoying do you perceive it to be when when gaming if not wearing headphones?
Thx -
Lurking in aorus forums reveals a hint at a 17" 4k option..... Interesting....

I just want them to reveal what the specs and price is. i don't care if its a month out at this point. the MSI one is already out for pre order.

Ill take that model minus the 4k screen. As much as I love high resolution it's a waste on a laptop imo. If you can't max it out no thank you !

even at 17 inches i would take a 1080p screen over 4k as well. Do they even make 4k 17 inch screen yet for laptops?

If the legends are true this would be amongst the first along with the asus with the water cooler...

They keep mentioning their press release and announcement, but when is that exactly?
-
Who knows....

hopefully soon....

I'm thinking these are more likely to be released Q1 2016. We are coming up on November with not even an announcement yet. Seems more likely at this point.

I just hope they bump up the 6700hq to the 6820hk for the x7... That would be perfect.

Nothing yet!

I guess it was a no show for PGW, that's a shame. I will stand by it not being available until early next year at this point.

So this model fell off the face of the earth it seems lol... Literally nothing at all about it anymore!

yeah been waiting for news but literally nothing lol..

O well clevo p775 dropping this month, not going to wait for something that may or may not be coming out any time soon....
-
Very disappointing though
-
I have a feeling they are having issues with the gpu temps and they haven't gotten it under control for long term use. So it could be several months. Seeing as it's a super thin chassis.

Man, I am looking forward for this thing (if it ever arrives of course!) I travel a lot, so having a desktop graphical power inside a laptop is going to be so convenient!
I am crossing my fingers for this to be a reality! -

Just an FYI. The X7 DT won one of the 2016 CES awards under the "Gaming and Virtual reality" Category. As did the new X5 in the "Computer Hardware and Components" Category.

Ok, we talked to the AORUS higher ups, we will be able to talk about launch windows mid-December.
As far as the delay in the releases, They have been working hard on the Skylake launches, especially the X5 and X7/X7 DT. They know it is frustrating to wait, but despite it being the holiday season, they are not rushing this product as they want to come out with the best quality product possible. They have a few surprises in store for you, that is as much as we can say at this time!
You might be able to squeeze something out of the Admin/Mod on the AORUS forums though.

The above statement regarding the mid December launch window is incorrect, it has been pushed even further. The Skylake range of Aorus laptops (apart from the X3) won't be released until Jan as confirmed by AORUS. Check-out this thread http://forum.aorus.com/forum/gaming-laptops/5651-skylake-x5-x7-x7dt for all the pertinent information.

So I have been thinking a lot and I was hoping I could get some decent feedback on which way to go. I have been waiting for this laptop to come out for months, as most of you have. However recently I am not sure if this would be the absolute best performance per dollar. I am now considering the X7 Pro refresh with skylake and 970m sli. My question is would 970m sli outperform 980 desktop card? I have seen a few benchmarks out there but not many. Any feedback would be appreciated!
