Is the capture card useful? Do you get better performance using it for capture instead of Shadowplay or OBS?
Also, I tried to find out some more info about the card, does it have the option to record 1080p 60fps high bit-rate? Some similar cards made by the same supplier were limited to 30fps.
Hoping it is a matter of waiting for updated drivers, otherwise, I agree. The X5 is marketed to enthusiast consumers looking for a slim laptop with performance that is better than slim laptops with 980M. If the X5 can't beat P35x or Clevo P650SG, then it looks to have very limited prospects among this niche market.

Brand new review on notebookcheck was put up today, http://www.notebookcheck.net/Aorus-X5-Notebook-Review.147329.0.html. Its rated extremely well for a niche laptop like this with sli, notebookcheck is hard to impress but it did well.
-
Those gaming benchmarks of the 965M SLI shows it being beaten in most games by the 980M, which is weird.
They should have updated to the latest bios as well. -
yeah, is this a driver issue?
At best it seems to be on par with the 980M, not exactly beating it by a noticeable margin... -
Ya i see the comparable 3dmark scores of 7800 for an x5 and 8300 for a haswell with a 980 gtx in the benchmarks as not so good.
Because thats the high point. Just like a 970 sli has great scores but in game its mostly going to fall.
I dont agree with what the previos person said. Most games the 980 gtx has more fps. -
It is thinner than a 8562. It comes with a good anount of ssd and a 3k screen.
It is a tough sell. I think ibstill want one -
Actualky on paper the best one is the p35x it has broadwell it has even a odd but it has some fairly bad reviews with heat and build here.
-
That being said, I think you're misinterpreting what you're seeing with frame rate comparisons. Compare the frame rates from these two links:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Gigabyte-P37X-Notebook-Review.139381.0.html
http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-965M-SLI.144715.0.html
Those are two very similar notebooks in regards to the total build (as I stated on my last reply to you, in case you didn't see it). It seems that you're looking at the maximum frame rates on notebooks using a GTX 980M, which are large notebooks, with loads of space for air flow, and even desktop CPUs (like the Eurocom P5 Pro Extreme). If you were take the exact same components in the X5 and put them into a larger chassis (allowing for better heat dissipation and air flow), you're likely to get better results on benchmark scores and frame rates. So when making your comparisons, try to take the entire build into consideration, and not just 965M SLI vs 980M.Last edited: Aug 6, 2015 -
Ya the numbers give us a picture of the machines which we cant see in person to compare.
When comparing sli to single big card the numbers classicly overvalue sli.
It doesnt really matter the size of the notebook.
The 3d score actually favors the x5 which has a better cpu.
The thin ness of the x5 is its selling point . but in its advertising they seem tobtell you you dont leave anything on the table.
But thr numbers show otherwise. And i see now xotic pc and gen tech have a review it shows the same thing.
That said im buying one. -
If the x5 had the two 970m it would be the end.
Actually if the x7 had a better screen. Nothing ever seems to align perfectly. -

And both of those are hot in reality
You lose the optimus.
My main contenders were a 8652 with izgo 4k and i only saved 150 dollars. Where as this is a more premium smaller case
P35x has temperatures i cant live with.
I cant live with a laptop that needs a cooler.
I can live with a laptop that needs to be plugged in.
I came close to the ghost gs60 broadwell because its also very cool. But the 4k screen is crap. -
I had to roll with xotic pc because they are one of the only resellers outside of ca
I asked them to throw in a case
I feel like aorus or someone should throw in a sleeve for this.
But no dice.
And because im an early owner i dont thinj anyone has one that fits right -
Run some benches when you get it and let us know the temps.
-
The problem is he told me it will take 9 to 16 days.
So this still has the chance of me not getting it or getting the runaround and them not getting one
When i get one i wont do any official review or tests but i will actively post here and talk about upgrades and accessories.
Im quite excited. -
I will have the 3dmark test any new owner runs.
Xotic pc will do diamond paste for free
As we see stock cpu is hot -
My lg g4 has usb 3.1 but ibdont see ever using it personally.
The big one is usb c
Does the aorus have any usb always on ports to charge a cell phone? -

I can see using usb c.
But i dont see it as a big deal.
If you are a heavy duty user of external hard drives. My aorus x5 comes with an open ms2 slot im not sure ill ever fill...
I think usb c is a game changer for mobile phones personally
Then you can hook up a ssd to your mobile phone then laptops are one step from death. -
If mobile phones had an m2 ssd right now i coildblive with them for everything but gaming
-
I am not an intel expert however indont believe there will even be skylake laptop preorders until november.
I believe they will market skylake for desktops first -

Question:
"Will there be a new Aorus X5 with USB 3.1 Type-C port?"
Answer:
"Yes, most definitely but will not happen until they move to 6th Generation Core processors and I do not have a time frame of when this will occur. Thank you"Perseus17 likes this. -

Ha all laptops will have usb c eventually thats the worst preview ive ever heard
And no those are skylake desktop cpus. -
Nah, its coming to laptops. -
Thanks AriStar. But I wouldn't hold my breath about seeing an update within the next three months. Seeing as the X5 was released just over a month ago, I don't see them releasing an updated model that soon.
I'm not doubting that Skylake will come to notebooks, but it's not going to be as soon as you're expecting since the desktop versions were just released.

You can look up the time frame that aorus updates laptops from other models to get a guess. But i can agree 3 months would be a long shot
Back in the day they went like phones once a year and sometimes earlier
The p35 though i think it did upgrade that often.
Imo. They did not sell broadwell to desktops as it will be the mobile chip. For a while for a minute. For at least months.Last edited: Aug 7, 2015AriStar likes this. -

From our very own forums. I'm going to wait for the 6th gen. -
The newest gpu is the 965m. The very newest gpu is the 965m sli.
The newest cpu is thr 5700. The newest gadget is screencapture.
G sync
The newest laptop is the aorus x5.
All the other laptops in the world will update first. All the other aorus msis whatever.
This is the state of the art right this minute.
If you are waiting for the new x5 you got in the wrong line. It is not even in mass production yet. -
Yep 5700 and gsync is pretty cutting edge
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk -
Yeah I do think its coming in Sept, but assuming that happens how long for Aorus to implement it into the new X5? I assume atleast 6 months from now right? -
There will be new laptops in sep. The skylake advancement doesnt mean anything to a laptop like the x5 . but the cput probably fits in the same mb
If it can generate leas heat maybe all laptops will be smaller .
Fanless laptops may have more gaming....
But unless theres another gpu upgrade and probably even if there is but its weenie the x5 type machine wont change much
If the machine that is the sager 8652 gets an update to skylake g sync and something unannounced like a nvidia 985 comes out
Itll be awesome a machine that games better than this one. Then in another few months maybe they invent an aorus a4 with x sync. Therea always going to be something new.
But if it doesnt have a new gpu its nothing new.
This x5 actually has it own unique gpu nothing exciting like that is likely to come out.
A lot of the new cpu upgrade is iris pro graphics that the x5 cant even use.
It cant use the irisbpro in the 5700 it has.less power usage doesnt matter to an sli notebook the battery life will suck no matter what it has gpus on at all times.Last edited: Aug 8, 2015 -
Looks like it's cap at 1,000MB /s read with 4 M.2 SSDs.

Interesting
Does that mean that 3 m2 ssds will also hit thr cap? -
Hey guys, I just got my X5 a week or two ago. I was curious if anyone had issues with the trackpad? The right side of mine has a noticeable, tactile 'click' before the actually 'click' of the button press. Like if I was to right click slowly I would feel it click twice before I hit the bottom of the switch.
Additionally, does anyone know if I can uninstall the touchpad drivers that came with the X5 (ELAN) and switch over to Symantec or will the hardware not match up?stamar likes this. -
One Clevo reseller, Eurocom, does sell upgrade parts. Among those you'll also find Sharp's matte 4K panel that currently holds third place in Notebookcheck's display ranking. Perhaps G-Sync functionality would also stay put after a panel swap since at least one Clevo reseller advertises the combination of 4K and G-Sync in one of their notebooks. About now, a downside would be expected. The quote I got from Eurocom was €395 for the panel, cable, and international shipping. I know IGZO panels are expensive, but damn. When you also factor in how we don't know how well the LQ156D1JW04 would align with mounting intended for the VVX16T028J00, I'm suddenly a bit more on the fence about this. I do wonder if the X5's bezel comes off easily or if there's a high risk of scratching it using a pry tool. Has anyone seen screen disassembly performed on another Aorus model?
-
Can you directly link a 4k sharp izgo screen for me?
Anyhoe were going on day 7 since i ordered my x5 and its still in phase 1.
So they werent kidding on 9 to 16
Or it could be worse still.
When i look at xotic pc customer complaints they mostly deal with them takin an order and 20 days later still not sending it out. Cancelling then and it takes 10 days for a refund.
Im ready to still get it but im prepared to cancel.
Definitely never ordering from them again no question. Somewhere i missed everyones positive reviews not mentioning 9 to 16 days processing? No way never had that experience with any retailer anywhere.
There are two related businesses right down the street with the machibe in stock with 3 day eta shipping. Excaliber pc and apc computing.
And i may just change my mind at that point and walk into frys for a ms60 ghost broadwell. If im paying sales tax i dont need to go this route i live in silicon valley -
I have 3 M.2 256 GB SSDs.

The part number is enough. We can get the screen for less than 100 dollars but we need to see what side the cables goes to.
