Yes, drop to about 1.20, 1.25GHz on High Performance on battery, .75, .80GHz on Balanced.

Lastly there's some conflicting information about the weight of the laptop. Is it 3.9 or 3.6 pounds?

Just to add on to what B'midbar mentioned above.
The highest the CPU clocks on battery is 1.3Ghz which will consume a maximum TDP of 12W, which is quite good for battery life as opposed to the full potential of this CPU at 47W (3.4Ghz)

    That's awesome, thanks.

IMHO, I see no reason to game on any battery as you'll only get like ~1 hour, maybe 2 max. Even if you were to play for only one hour, the CPU is underclocked which may reduce performance depending on the game.

I'm confused on this. In my video when doing some sound tests, I'm on battery and at 2:27 of this video task mgr shows the cpu running well over 1.3Ghz? Am I not looking at that right....or it's wrong?

I ordered the last P34G from newegg.com this morning. its availability flipped to "out of stock" right after I placed the order. Lucky me! :D

Anyway, I am looking for 2 additional AC adapters for the laptop but I couldn't find any good information except the two items below.

GIGABYTE P34G power supply charger ac adapter
120w GIGABYTE P34G P34G-CF1 AC Power Adaptor charger

one is listed $28, the other is $82. I am not sure what's the right one or if the seller is reliable

Does anyone know where I can get it? Also any suggestion on compatible universal adapters?

    Thanks in advance!

You need to actually backup the disk/partitions. I had issues with my Windows 7 install on the SSD as my company requires PGP and it doesn't work on a gpt drive. So I used my Todo Backup to restore the SSD and then setup the HDD as mbr and installed 7 there.

If you just do a windows backup/image, it won't fix the partitions and system images.

I'm thinking of getting this ultrabook. However, like others, battery life does worry me. Are there external battery packs that would be compatible with the P34G? Maybe the Anker Astro Pro or some other brand?

Definition of Ultrabook [Wikipidia] "Ultrabook is a specification and brand developed by Intel for a class of high-end subnotebooks which are designed to feature reduced bulk without compromising performance and battery life. They use low-power Intel Core processors, solid-state drives, and unibody chassis to help meet these criteria. To meet these requirements they often omit an optical drive or Ethernet ports."

Steer away from this laptop if you want an ultra book, as it doesn't fit the requirements.

No, that's accurate. We're talking less than .10GHz difference between your observation and mine, easily enough accounted for by what you and I may or may not have had going on at the time with Smart Fan, Ultra Boost and screen brightness respectively. No biggie.

I am ordering from Xotic, can anyone comment on the available upgrades they offer? Planning to just do the base configuration. Also, I am going to be using this to drive dual displays on my desktop (not for gaming for light office work), it should handle that ike a champ, yeah? I like the Belkin in #663, but any other suggestions for a docking station would be helpful. Thanks.

Interesting, the moment I unplug power I drop from 3.29, 3.31 GHz to .77 GHz, even if I keep the battery performance profile on "high performance." If I pop Smart Fan to 'Turbo' and Ultra Boost to 'Extreme' I still only get 1.27GHz. Going to have to start nosing around in BIOS.

And that's the only config Gigabyte has released so far, right? Guess 8 GB will be enough for what I'm doing on it.

So far, yes, but some sites do show the CF2 configuration that bumps the mSATA to 256GB and the memory to 16GB RAM. Unfortunately, memory prices have jumped in recent months. Looking at the 16GB of GSkill memory I bought for my T430s this time last year for $79, the two 8GB sticks are now up to $150.

I managed to get two Patriot 8GB DIMMs on NewEgg Saturday for $122.38 with a 10% discount coupon, but that's about as good as it gets right now, even on eBay.

I haven't confirmed my preoder because I'm trying to know if it is included in the first batch they're receiving. Does that mean the first batch has already arrived?
When did you guys place your order?
Also, have you noticed that the OCUK version only has a 750 GB HDD, instead of the regular 1TB? (+128GB msata)

Did not see the other configs, bigger SSD and more memory would be cool, but I'm getting impatient at this point.

FWIW, just spoke with Xotic and Dynamism-- they're both waiting on a second batch, said it should be another week or two before they come in.

Go take a look at a store, it's the best thing you can do.
I was in the same struggle. I have now a 11'' 2.2kg laptop. I know that it gets heavy to my taste to carry the whole day with some staff. So the P34G with 1.8kg is just great. Besides 14'' is already big enough for me. I think 13.3 is ideal. 15'' is just huge. But you should go take a look and compare other laptops.
If one of your priorities is one of these points, go for the P35K
-2+ hours more (than the P34G) of battery life
    -Screen size
    -Storage

Ordered P35k then canceled my order and ordered P34g.

    Main concerns for me are:

    1) P35k is HUGE with its extra-thick bezel...
    2) Numpad. Who really needs a numpad? On P34g I can use arrow keys w/o looking at the keyboard, on P35k I need to look to make sure that I won't press "0". And I don't like the "shifted" touchpad too.
    3) It's all black and ugly. I do like black keys and silver aluminum keyboard deck on P34g. It looks nicer.
    4) I like sitting on a sofa with a laptop on my knees. But a 15.6 inches laptop is not really suitable for this :)

It was really a hard decision, I thought that the p35k wouldn't be available and it would have been easier.

    My conclusions were the following:
    - The p35k has a bigger battery: sure I'd prefer to have 5-6h rather than 3-4h but I would almost never use more than 1-2h on battery. There is power socket in every classrooms.
    - The p35k has a better gpu: but it has the same number of cuda cores and GDDR5 memory. The only difference are the frequencies and those are easily overclocked with nvidia inspector then the difference is negligible
    - The p35k has 250GB more storage: sure but the p34g has already a massive 750GB 128GB SSD... I have a triple boot on my desktop (128GB SSD 1TB HDD) and still have more than 500GB of free space so I don't see how I can fill 750GB on my laptop. All my vids and music are on my home server, I just keep what I'm currently watching on my computers and 750GB is plenty enough
    - The p35k has a bigger screen: but only one inch and two big downsides: weight and size.

All that said, I like the numpad, I like the black finish and I still like those improvements but I value the 500g less on my back every day and the gain in portability more. It will certainly be different for you but it's a good basis to start with, I hope it helped a bit ;)
