look at this from a reseller in Germany:
Geizhals Deutschland
1099 EUR without SSD and OS. Fair price!
-
-
Which one? I only see 1399 EUR or more.
I looked at Overclockers and they don't charge VAT for customer outside EU and since Switzerland never joined EU they would charge me £966.66 not bad. -
Here is a direct link: GIGABYTE P34G, Notebook
price includes taxes!
Alternate gibt es auch in der Schweiz, oder? -
Thank you! This price is really good and I already own a 256GB SSD so I don't need one. Alternate sends to Switzerland but they don't remove VAT and the price is not shown. I'll send them an email to have details.

Some observations re Warranty I've retained the original LiteOn/Plextar 256GB msata (which I would normally reformat and install in an external drive). Hence, in the unlikely event a Warranty claim would be made I can return this back to factory install, assuming I first remove the 1TB Samsung Evo SSD.
Regarding noise, what noise? Is not an issue. The keyboard is a tad flexible between the F&J keys, yet this is not unexpected I tend to bounce these keys no matter the machine.
Two weeks prior to purchasing this I bought a Venom Blackbook
My take on this lappy on a rating of 1-10 is 9.5 on the other 8.
Love it, and the price AUD was much less than expected for a rig of this calibre. -
Would you say noise levels are ok for a small classroom or a library?
Where do you notice the differences? (brightness, colors, movies, blacks) or is just a general feeling? -
Display, I am nearly 60 y/o, thus it is a matter of which of the two is easier on the eyes. If you go back through this thread you will find some disagreement regarding the displays. I can confirm the Clevo based model most certainly has an IPS whereas the P34G is AHVA. My preference is for the latter.
Hope this helps, this is grand machine. -

Hey guys, just got my P34G, been installing updates and getting it up and ready so far.
I'm happy to answer any questions.
P.S. I'm in Australia. -
Wow, first impressions?
-
The keyboard keys clicking noise is a bit loud for my liking. It's not very loud but I would have liked it to be a bit less noisier.
I had read on other forums that the speakers were rubbish but they are louder than my previous Asus G50V so I'm pretty happy with them. They do seem to lack bass but I judge speakers by their loudness so they perfectly fit my need.
The build quality is really solid, all my previous laptops were made of plastic so the aluminium feels top notch. Really smooth and cool to rest your palms on when typing, same goes for the trackpad it is fairly large and has a smooth finish.
I'm coming from a 15.4" 1680*1050 screen and this 14" FHD screen looks really crisp, love the matte finish. The brightness at 30% while indoors seems to be sufficient.
Overall I'm really happy with my purchase and it meets my expectations build quality wise. -

Just got the following update from XoticPC regarding my order...
-
"We received notice that the Pre-Order model you selected will soon be arriving into stock. You will receive another update once the model is confirmed to be available at Xotic PC location (estimated 3-10 business days)." -
"Psych!"
So you being the "ordered with Xotic several times previously," interpret for me please - what timeline does that indicate? -
video from this thread: The Gigabyte P35K and Gigabyte P34G - Notebooks - Whirlpool Forums
Video: http://david-lam.net/p34g.mp4 -
The screen seems awesome!
I'm a bit worried about the temperature though. He was only a couple of minutes into stress testing, but CPU temperature already reached 90 degrees. It probably wouldn't sustain CPU frequency if he kept it under stress for a while. -
I did notice that they removed the pre-order from the description on the site though -
Yeah literally ordered within 10 minutes of it being available.
-
I understand you said that the display is crisp and you love matte finish, my question and my concern is about the graininess of the display, is your p34g panel grainy especially on white backgrounds? Does it have that sparkle effect like it is dirty and smudgy? Do you have the IPS Backlight bleeding glow when viewing all dark/black backgrounds?
Thanks -
Just ordered from ExcaliburPC. My order says 'In Stock'.....we'll see.
-
Order just shipped, damn that was fast. Had this feeling about Excalibur being quickish. Should have gone for something other than ground shipping....oh well, hopefully arrive Thurs or Friday.
-
Sounds like I'm going to go with excaliber for shipping then.
-
That was quick. Going to stay with Xotic, mainly because of my experience with their support. Not saying Excaliber is bad, because I have no clue. Just staying with who I am comfortable with.
-
This laptop looks really sweet. I'd really like to know how long the battery lasts while browsing or using MS office and how hot it gets playing some games.
-
I haven't had time to do any tests yet, but here are some pictures
There's no light bleed on any corners of the screen. -
So I should have both a P34G and a W740SU as soon as Xotic ships out my order. Does anyone want me to do a video comparison and if so what points do you want compared?

From reading, it seems like the Gigabyte is the better machine. Beefier video card, and better build. I've read no complaints about the P34G keyboard, either. Everyone hates the one on the Sager. I will be interested to check out your head-to-head comparison. -
-
Whats up with a wireless module? Is it good? Do i need to upgrade for some intel model, or this stock one is just fine? Because i live in a house, with many walls, so it can be a problem..
-
I can't take the pressure, I'm swapping my w230st for one of these, the w230 is just too thick.. If anyone are worrying about temperatures, consider the IC thermal paste from xoticpc (or repasting yourselves). I have it on my 230, and I get avg temps around 75C when running prime95, while others are getting as much as 90. I can almost get it down to 70 if i manually turn the fan to its max setting, but for real world use that fan noise becomes too much...
-
The fan on the P34G runs louder, and hotter.
-
Damn, that's bad news , is the grainy/sparkly effect on the panel severe? I hate grainy matte panels, of all the laptops I own and tried that's matte and 90% of them have this cheap and dirty/smudgy grainy/sparkly look on them except two laptops which are the clevo w230st and asus n550jv and they both had very clear non grainy matte panels , pls tell me the matte on this laptop is not very grainy?
Severe grainy/sparkly/smudgy panel ruins the viewing experience in my honest opinion and i'd rather use a glossy screen even if I had glare just so I could have a vivid and very clear panel. Obviously I still prefer a matte panel since it doesn't have glare but if it destroys the color and if it so grainy then it ruins the viewing experience. You would understand and people would understand what i'm talking about if you and they had a clear matte panel and grainy/sparkly panel in the past with previous laptops. -
mo danishe where did you get that laptop sleeve ?
-
-
Not looking good for my order from xotic so I'm going to switch my order as soon as I can get excaliber on the phone

I did not know this so it was a great surprise when I opened the box. -
thats pretty cool to know.
I hope the P35K comes with one, finding a sleeve for it is going to be hard since its so long. -
Seems like I'm not the only impatient one here, lol. -
mo_danish did you order from affordablelaptops? This model is really nice with 256GBssd and 16GB of ram compared to the one from OCUK.
Also could you do a CrystalDiskMark of your ssd?
Thank you for all the informations -
I just did a live chat with them:
-
Hi mo_danish, first i would like to thank you for your comments and pictures.
Could you do me a favor and test Prime95 and/or ( Linpack ) while connected to the charger running on full power for an hour or two and monitor the temperature readings of the cpu? I hope that temperatures will stay below 95 degree celsius and that the cpu won't throttle itself down. you can easily see if it throttles on linpack. if it takes the same time for each steps, it is unthrottled. if steps take longer after a while, it is slower.
Thank you for your effort!

Nuked Xotic and ordered from Excaliber just now myself. May be a day or two behind you, but it's still 11:34 a.m. PDT, so hopefully only a day. -
Thanks for replying. Can you tell me about the wireless card that comes with your p34g? What brand and model is it?
Others also with the p34g, what is the wireless card on yours? -
Very usefull thread, been following this for a while now.
I was just wondering if anyone has ordered this laptop from dynamism, because everyone seems to be ordering it at ExCalibur? Just wondering if anyone had ordered it there or had any experience with them.
