I have received my one. cant believe they put a slow ssd in such an expensive machine! only 1800mb/s read!

The last few days my laptop has started rebooting itself when I game. I game for a few minutes and the machine locks up and reboots. I have tried the latest Nvidia drivers and the older drivers posted on the Aorus site with no luck.
Normal Windows operation is unaffected. I opened a ticket with Gigabyte online support. -
Have you ruled out high temps? It sounds to me like a super-fast temp spike which causes the GPU to go into self-defense mode and shut down. How are your temps? Any abnormal spikes? -

Anybody knows of anyone who does bios unlocking for gigabyte machines?
-
Hey I did some stuff on my own but what other recommendations do you have. i have updated my first post -
No OC or UV.
Temps were in the low 80s both on CPU and GPU when the latest reboot happened.JCordero31 likes this. -
also have you switched from optimal power to Adaptive in NVIDIA control panel?JCordero31 likes this. -

Ordered on of these yesterday was looking at the Zephyrus gx501 but the heat was the man drawback for me. Should be in today. Main complaints ive seen is the fan noise what would be good base UV settings to reduce the fans pickup. Also are elevated laptop coolers even worth it?
Edit
It came in so far temps are great I got an Open box on newegg due to the savings in Price $2156 with shipping next day. no Scuffs, scratches, dents or fingerprints on it.
It came with everything only complaint is I need to look for a new power adapter, in the box was a Dell 180W supply and the system usually comes in with a 250w thin profile.
The Aorus updating software is dreadful. Some of the slowest downloads i've ever witnessed.
I can't seem to get my drivers for nvidia updated. Gets stuck on installing 3d Vision driverLast edited: Sep 8, 2018 -
15sec boot with a evo ssd. I had it freeze once. Now i have xtu undervolt -0.120v when the game is loaded. I will repaste it when the stuff arrives (kryonaut and conductanaut coming). I wanted to use the nvidia optimise, but i dont have that option.
-
@Andy120nz could you post a screenshot of you utx settings
-
I took utx out. I could not get it to work consistentl. it would load, then not, then load and do nothing...... Put throttlestop on instead. Only have undervolt of -0.120v
-
I would have done a fresh install with no aorus crap. A repaste of lm on both cpu and gpu works amazing. I have not found a fan controller that works for this (besides the aorus software but then it doesnt let me keep my profile settings in XTU and Afterburner). My undervolt is 0.160v and i have at 4GHZ. Stays very cool and super quiet with reg fan profile setting that comes preloaded. I saw that on new egg i was tempted to purchase a second one and resell it but didnt -
-
There is some bloat on there not much but I wanted to do a fresh in stall and get also possibly rid of this unknown device that is there too
How do you get the boot options to see a usb stick. f9 showed only the nvme drive so did the bios.JCordero31 likes this. -
I have -0.130 undervolt. i was getting weird things appear on the screen on a game when i had -0.150v. Still waiting for my paste to arrive.

anyone on the fresh install process?

Hi All , i've got Alienware 15 R3 with 7820HK and GTX 1080 max Q , i tried to run Win7 with it,the win7 installed without any prob, but after installed Intel n GTX 1080 maxQ drivers, laptop not working with aero,i means all GPU drivers Installed n showed up in device manager, but non working ! i took 2 weeks to find a solution, but no avail ! my bad,for not do the research first,i then forced to sell it in order to get the AORUS X7 V6 ,which i hopes can run win7,coz i owned a X3 V5 (skylake) with GTX970M n it's run win7 OK ! when i checked with AORUS support website,it showed all the drivers for win7 there.one thing i fear is the GTX 1070 will work with win7 or not ? i'd like to make sure B4 i get the X7 V6 ! does any one here run win7 on this X7 V6 successfully ? please ! any opinion n help will highly appreciated , please ! n sorry 4 my bad English.
Thanks all Gentlemen. -

Remove the secure boot keys in the bios restart and change uefi options. make sure you boot usb drive is set for uefi setting if you used rufus. -
posted a few screenshots i will post a cb benchmark when done againLast edited: Sep 13, 2018 -

My machine is a lemon. Sending back. I cant game for more than a couple of minutes before it reboots itself. I did a full windows reinstall and not difference. Normal windows operations and web surfing is OK.
We will see if they can repair it. My suspicion is the video card but I don't know for sure. -

I had to remove the secure boot in order for the usb drive to even be found.
As for the 3d vision install after windows completed its installation of windows 10 clean i was able to do an express install for nvidia.
My guess it has something to do with driver privileges because I was also unable to install an update on the killer wireless either
Overall I think this is a great product. Would recommend highly.
I get a bit of slowdown on the computer with a usb 3.0 hub connected. I think the one I have doesn't have enough power for an external HD, laptop cooler fan and a wireless headset receiver.
I own this one (AUKEY Powered USB Hub) 36watts
Plan on getting this (Ankler power IQ) 60watts
Also thinking of getting the TopMate C7 since it can go 2400RPM my current cooler tops at 1500RPM noise doesnt bother me since i usually have a headset on and can not hear it even with no sound going through
With the cooler and a 4.0 clock -.160uv and no change to my gpu settings I get around the settings in my screenshot
GPU = 71 Degrees max 1848 Mhz
CPU = 65-70 Degrees
Maybe also I might need a 330 watt Power supply for this laptop for home? If that would be safe any recommendations anyone?
This is going to be a desktop replacement for the most part from home but I will be travelling a lot in the next 2 years so the 230 watt should be fine for that.
Edit side note: At these temps any bother to re-paste the CPU and GPU?Last edited: Sep 14, 2018JCordero31 likes this. -
look at original post. 4GHz setting with undervolt of 0.155mv turbo boost and short unlimited -
im glad my suggestion worked. you can change the settings of it in msi afterburner and get even better temps and higher clocks or you could just undervolt and get better temps. Less power means more battery life. Skip the 330w..kitzuki likes this. -
Or possible screenshots of your msi setting -

Working on gpu of -0.95v normal but under load -0.975. I has getting glitches when really working it hard. no overclock. out of curiosity, to make a X9, can the cpu be straight swapped? X9's were not available in this country.

Greetings! Just purchased an Aorus X7 DT V8 from HIDevolution and I had some questions and looking for suggestions.
I've spoken to one of the tech guys from HIDevolution and they're super helpful, but I thought I'd get some feedback from people here as well.
I'll be using this computer mostly for large scale 3D modeling, photogrammetry, virtual reality environments, high resolution photo/video editing, and multitasking between these programs such as Agisoft Photoscan Pro, Blender, Meshlab, Meshmixer, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Autodesk, etc.
Specs:
17.3" IPS Level FHD 1920x1080 144Hz anti-glare display support NVIDIA G-SYNC
Core i7-8850H @ 2.6GHz - 4.3GHz
nVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 w/ 8GB GDDR5X - nVIDIA G-Sync
Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut on CPU + GPU, and Fujipoly Extreme Thermal Pads
Samsung 970 Pro 512GB M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe 3D-VNAND SSD
HIDevolution Approved Standard 32GB Dual Channel DDR4/2666MHz
Windows® 10 Pro, 64bit
Intel XTU Settings:
Processor Core Ratio: 43x 4.3GHz
Processor Cache Ratio: 40x 4.0GHz
Reference Clock: 100.000 MHz
Max Turbo Boost CPU Speed: 4.300 GHz

I've done Stress Tests with these settings in Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and they pass and seem stable. Under Benchmarking it gives me 1590 Marks with a max Processor Frequency of 4.30 GHz and highest CPU temp. of 73 degrees C. In CineBench R15 I get a CPU score of 1365 and 110 fps OpenGL. In Geekbench 4 CPU multicore score was 23995 and OpenCL compute results at around 178000. I know I shouldn't be fixating on numbers but I thought perhaps they're useful for reference.
Questions:
Do the Intel XTU Settings seem alright? Do they seem appropriate for using programs like Photoscan Pro for photogrammetry, where sometimes the software will be running and creating meshes, dense clouds etc. for potentially hours? Creating 3D models etc and rendering them? In those situations I might need a separate profile for extended hours cpu-intensive tasks with max potential performance and stability. What about temperature issues with using the computer in very warm and dusty indoor environments like archaeological sites? What kind of setting could I use for those extreme circumstances?
Has anyone successfully installed Windows Precision drivers for the trackpad? If so do they help (I'm a little spoiled from MacBook trackpads). This isn't very important as I'll be using an external mouse for work, but it would be nice.
Any help, suggestions, tips etc. would be much appreciated, thank you.
-
Personally id underclock it to 4.0ghz in boost and see if you can push the voltage lower after the underclock since your gonna be in warm weather/dusty areas you should also try to undervolt and overclock the gpu. It will generally lower temps all-around while giving you a small boost in gpu performance. id give short and turbo boost unlimited power so it never power throttles. put the gpu power in adaptive in the nvidia panel. -

Also on the 411 GeForce update 3Dvision driver gets stuck had to uncheck it again -
Thank you kindly for the response, that worked great!JCordero31 likes this. -

Anyone know if the trackpad supports three finger gestures? I can't get it to work and I don't see an option for it in settings. Do Windows precision drivers work for the trackpad? If so which one can I use?
