How is your Aero 15X holding up any issue?

I would say not worth it to upgrade if you already have one.

There's the occasional keyboard chatter. That might be it really. The new CPU does not seem like it would have any advantage for anything I do, and I did want the 4k screen but forgot that they do draw more power. Strangely the only thing that seems like a worthwhile upgrade is if the revised keyboard types any better.

Yeah, same. A little bit of chatter which I have a soft fix for. I love how they haven't even fixed the backlight on the right shift key. Also, that new logo is horrific.

I don’t think the new logo is bad at all. Seems like they fixed the keyboard. How’s the trackpad since they kind of dodge that question At the new launch yesterday.

I want to say that the trackpad is tolerable, but I recently had to drag and drop files from one folder to another for hours and it was awful because clicking is on the hinge at the top and movement is less than accurate.

You don't notice it on light use, but back to back with my Razer Blade or my old Asus, the user experience with movement feels so much better.

It is really too bad that this thing has nearly perfect specs all the way around but the basics are tough to love.

What form factor SSD does this 15X Aero have? 2280 etc? Or what sizes can it take?

Did a pre-order with HiD for the Aero 15x v8. Got some time to make up my mind if I should upgraded from the Aorus v5x7 due to battery life and weight being better on the Aero 15x.

Hi! Ive got a big problem i need help with asap!

Something is wrong with the performance of my computer. Sometimes (usually when working with heavy visual programs like touchdesigner or adobe) My screen flickers and drops down in performance. I just noticed something when working in touchdesigner, i just made a very simple system to generate visuals. No drops in fps all good and fine, but then when i view a node in the end of the chain (it brings up a window to view whats happening) It drops the framerate to like 6 fps sometimes, when it should easily be at 60 fps.

I think and noticed this drop of performance is connected to viewing of screens because it usually leads the screen to flicker in a slight color intensity. First i thought it was a bug with the pantone calibration but now i dont think this is the case. This also happens sometimes when using an external screen or using a projector to show visuals ( so using several screens at the same time)

Sorry if im not being clear, but this is what i have gatherd. It really bums me out and gets me frustrated, i just want to focus on my creative work! Help!

Try launching them with the nvidia gpu. I get that sometimes when hardware acceleration is using the iGPU instead of the dGPU.

I really like this laptop but after watching this review it seems to run real loud when gaming, not exactly sure how accurate the tests done by GenTechPC are compared to other reviews but its a little too much for me especially even Max Q is supposed to be under or around 40db.
Not sure if its worth it with next gen GPU's being released in the next couple of months .

Yeah, waited way too long already - so won't wait for the GTX 11 series

Now seems a decent time to buy.

Is the GTX1070 using an old process though?

The GTX 1170 for example will likely be much more efficient - a big jump?

I expect a 30 to 50% jump. Similar to past jumps. Nvidia is a steamroller when it comes to mobile performance the past 5 years.

Depends. Since Nvidia is using the same chips for both laptop and desktop gpus now they might release fairly close like they did with the 10 series.

I have the first gen and it’s not loud when doing regular laptop work. If you’re gaming, you can hear the fans, but it’s honestly not that loud. I don’t need my gaming headset on to avoid hearing them. If it was in a quite library, maybe a distraction to some, but the fan noise I imagine is better than most gaming laptops.

Hmm, yeah, the holding off dilemma. Would be annoying to get this now and then later this year a version with the GTX 1170 comes out.

You can always wait, but how often do NVIDIA refresh their mobile GPUs? The currently platform's been out a while no? And uses the old process? If it's a case of waiting 6 months it's worth waiting I think. But I don't know how quickly Gigabyte would refresh the laptop - it does seem like they don't use a fixed yearly cycle or anything.

Battery life and weight makes it a hard choice to wait until end of yr or next for the new Volta or whatever it's going to be called.

How often do Gigabyte refresh their laptops?

When do you guys that follow this expect them to release an update?

May be worth waiting if we can expect an updated 15X with a new 11 series GPU by the end of the year.
Looks like performance will be boosted quite a lot.

I've tried to find details about when the cards came out and when Gigabyte released and updated their models, to get an idea, but not found much yet.

The new CPU plus new GPU would be a good time to buy I think. As we then won't get a major upgrade for another couple of years really?

i undervolted my aero 15x v8 (-0.150mv) and it dropped 6-8°C :) is it possible to undervolt the gpu for better thermals or is it going to be unstable?

edit: is it normal, that geforce experience shows 388.92 as the most recent driver for my 1070 max q device?

Er, whatever you say sir. But, you will have to excuse me because I do not believe you.

This is the status at Computeruniverse, as it is with every Gigabyte dealer worldwide:
    Announced
for approx. end of April 2018

Computeruniverse is not going to risk its Intel contract by breaking the shipping embargo (which is April 16th), plus, Gigabyte is not delivering production models to anyone, worldwide, before late April or early May.

I humbly apologize. It appears that you have one of the first.

Too bad Computeruniverse violated their contract with both Gigabyte and Intel to begin delivering them prior to the worldwide embargo of April 16th. Not really fair to the rest of the world that has to wait.

hi guys... I'm trying to make up my mind on wether I should buy the new Aero 15X v8 (2018) or the current 2017 model (Aero 15x 7th generation Intel CPU and Nvidia 1070 GPU) and I am strongly leaning towards buying the current one... , but I can't find it anywhere online (USA) where they have it in stock so I can take the plunge... Do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks

Intel 7th Generation "Kaby Lake" version of the Gigabyte Aero 15X is probably sold out everywhere in the USA. That is why you don't see them available anywhere.

    https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Noteb...ncy-to-repeat-keystrokes-maaking/td-p/2650729

    with the changed values:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Accessibility\Keyboard Response] "AutoRepeatDelay"="200" "AutoRepeatRate"="6" "DelayBeforeAcceptance"="0" "Flags"="59"

works for every keyboard i think - no more double keystrokes :) but you have to deactivate fast boot or your settings will be deleted after every reboot... could get annoying
