Yeah I did check that but the game does NOT run at all. I'm not sure why. BTW I'm running Vista 32 bit and have looked around for a solution but haven't found any. I've tried reinstalling, running it in DX9 mode etc etc. So its just taking space on my drive for now. Any help would be appreciated.

I was having considerable trouble attempting to play the original Crysis as it now crashes before it decides to load. I was only able to get a single demonstration video up before it went kaput. However, my version of windows is 64bit and 32bit Crysis has problems running on 64bit.

The best I can offer would be to try and reinstall your drivers or maybe reinstall the game itself. I have a feeling it's the game that is messing up though from my experience.

I have a WD 320gb 5200rpm HDD and have the Clicking noise.

But there seem to be other people that have it with the WD. someone here says it is b/c of the HDD powersaving or so http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/1192945.html

I would really like to fix it. it annoys me

    I got a Studio 1555 with T6400 and Radeon4570 256Mb and 1080p wscreen.
I love it except for the following:
    - no led indicator for harddrive
    - no separate media buttons (have to do Fn + Whatever, or Fn + Alt + whatever)
    - no wifi catcher switch or led indicator (both I found really useful to help improve battery life)
    - 1080p on 15inch monitor is a bit too small for me. I should've picked 900p. But how could you not upgrade from 900p to 1080p for only CAD$30 more. So I blame Dell for this too :).
    - not entirely related, bu I also liked Inspirons shortcut to inncease/decrease brightness (Fn + UP/DOWN). It made much more sense than Fn + F-something.

    Anyways.

When I ordered it (back in april) I didn't want to upgrade the cpu from Dell. 'Coz the one CPU i wanted was like CAD$350 extra. But now I wish upgrade.

I have a QX9100 (quad core mobile CPU) from a mangled laptop, would it work? I also have an SP9400 (low power cpu), if the above wont work, will this one work???

If none of the above work, what is the maximum CPU can this laptop support? Can I use a 1066 FSB CPU? Coz I know T6400 is only 800MHz FSB. Do they all have the same mobo? Regardless if you buy t6400 or p8700 right now?

    Thanks.

I've ordered mine from the canadian site with T6400. P8600/8700 is nice, but too expensive for the moment.
Probably I will upgrade the CPU with a more power efficient one. i saw some cheap P7350 :D
Now long was your shipping time?

To add more to the 64bit vs. 128bit Radeon HD 4570 debate.

I have as mentioned in the quote Studio 1555 with HD 4570 256Mb.
    Laptop bios A05 (latest).
    Latest GPU-Z 0.3.4

I get 128 bit for bus width.

    http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v133/max62/?action=view&current=gpu-z-studio-1555.gif

So it is 128bit! I should've gotten the 512Mb HD 4570! Damn it!

For some reason it wont tell me the memory size, and few other things... Vista64 problem????

@Max62: the Studio 1555 can use up to 1066MHz Socket P processors, regardless of which one you originally bought your system with. I'm not sure if the processors you listed are compatible. If the socket is physically compatible, then it depends on BIOS support. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to tell without resorting to trial and error, i.e. actually trying those processors in your system.

Commander Wolf is much more knowledgeable about this sort of thing than I am, and I'm certain he'll be able to provide much more useful help. Good luck!

You can set in the BIOS (I believe, or maybe in QuickSet) for the system to default to "Multimedia First" so you can use the media buttons on the F keys without pressing Fn. You use the Fn-key combo when you want to use an F-key (so Fn+Play = F11).

I think I will call DELL tomorrow and make them send me a new drive. The clicking certainly doesn't sound good. Every time I've had that phenomenon with a HDD in the past the drive died shortly afterwards

Here it is said that the Dell Stud 15 with ATI 4570 does 4300 in 3Mark06. Is this true?

Does any one have pictures of a Midnight Blue studio?

Backlit-Keyboard costs £30 and you need to call the sales team to order it as it is not an option on online or on chat sales.

i see, 30 is a bit to much. In any case i u dont want to ruin your eyes, have the light on. Then a backlit keyboard is not really necessary. Am I wrong?

Yes, it is, but it is really up to the individual choice, but personally I feel it is very useful and that to work in dark. Also if you are an touch 10 finger typist, then it wont add up much value, if not then it is really an added advantage.

even so, if I wanted to spend more i would get a custom paint job. But hey, a bit less than 900 is much better then almost 1300 for a Mac I was considering. And that one was with an 11% student discount already included :(

edit: I do graphic design, so no advantage there....
