    Can someone make a youtube video review of the 1555? I was thinking of making one right when I got mine, but looking at the lengthy time it has been to build it, I'm just offering someone else to make one.

    I ordered the same config as you. I have an Estimated Delivery Date of .6/17. I think the 1080p screens is the hold up.

    The GPU-Z lists bus width as 128-bit, but Everest lists it as 64-bit. Which one to trust?

    Yeah I bet so.

    Just hope my studio ships out this weekend or early next week. The day it ships I'll be sure to post back the exact days it took to ship from the day I ordered.

    Long time lurker, first time poster.

    I have the Studio 15 on order with an estimated delivery date of: 22-Jun-2009. That's just over a month after the order date.

    I opted for P8600, 2GB, 1080p screen, 256MB ATI card, 9 cell battery, 160GB 7K RPM disk, DVDRW, Bluetooth, backlit keyboard and Intel 5300 Wireless card. All for $2050 NZD. That's with 8% discount off the website price. It was the cheapest Studio 15 build on Dell NZ site. Dell wanted to charge almost $400 NZD for 4GB RAM upgrade, when I can buy quality 2x2GB SODIMMs for $110 NZD, so I kept the default config.

    Everest also strangely assumes the default clock speed of the GPU is 500Mhz (4570 goes down to about 300Mhz idle and jumps to 680Mhz when gaming) so it keeps telling me my 4570 is overclocked.

    The only way to find out for sure is to contact dell or the manufacturer.

    In comparison to ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 256 MB in Studio 15, it is highly probable, that is a 128 bus. Results from notebookcheck:
    3DMark 05 3566
    3DMark 06 1823

    The only way to get the real answer, concerning the bus width of the Ati Mobility Radeon 4570, is to get to the source. Indeed, ATI itself.
    So I did. I've sent an email to the local customer care (in my case Belgium) explaining the whole thing and asking for the exact bus width.

    I'll keep you informed about their answer. Hope they will reply soon. Mostly they do, here in Belgium. Customer care isn't outsourced here yet. Thanks to our rarely known language :D !

    For comparison, here's mine Studio 1555:

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo P8600 (2.4GHz/1066Mhz FSB/3MB cache)
    4GB DDR2-800 RAM
    256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570

    Stock Vista 64bit install with stock drivers, but with most junkware removed...
    3DMark2001 --> 22699 3DMarks
    3DMark05 --> 7962 3DMarks / 11643 CPUMarks
    3DMark06 --> 3747 3DMarks / SM2.0 - 1356 / SM3.0 - 1486 / CPU Score - 2174
    3DMark Vantage --> 1150 3DMarks / CPU Score - 4465 / Graphics Score - 921

    Do 3D Mark score depend on screen resolution?
    If there is anyone here with the p8600 and 512MB graphics, it will be really helpful if they post their 3D Mark 06/05 scores...

    Since you put everything, I should elaborate on my benchmarks as well (T9550 2.66Ghz, 512MB 4570, 4GB DDR2-800) under Windows Vista 64bit:

    3DMark05 --> 8071 3DMarks / 12557 CPUMarks
    3DMark06 --> 4291 3DMarks / SM2.0 - 1515 / SM3.0 - 1750 / CPU Score - 2421

    These scores are based on the default/trial/basic versions with no changing of settings.

    I am getting the following results for Crysis (32bit) Benchmarks DirectX10
    running on Windows Vista 64bit Ultimate.

    AA is off.

    800x600 Low Settings --> ~84.6 avg. fps
    1024x768 Med Settings --> ~27.6 avg. fps
    1600x900 High Settings --> ~8.1 avg. fps

    And no, Crysis will not run on High at 1080p. It barely runs at 900p on Low. The main limiting factor of the 4570 is the 80 stream processors. (I believe the desktop 4850 has 800).

    Of course it's going to run, but not at playable framerates :) The point of the native resolution is to compare high resolutions, as most gaming laptops have WUXGA screens. In your case, to compare to laptops of similar performance, I'd run it at 1280x720.

    Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 2.66Ghz
    4GB DDR2-800 Ram
    512MB ATI Mobility Radeon 4570 (I believe this is GDDR3 Ram)

    1600x900 (900p) Screen

    I'm playing through Crysis at 1280x720 on Low with Medium Shadow Quality (Smooth out the HUD)

    Hi all!

    Well I truly don’t know what to buy too many choices!!!! I am a not a hardcore gamer but I do play some games once in a while TF2, warcraft 3 TFT, and probably SCT2 and Diablo 3.

    So I have a budget of about 1000€, if I take the studio 1555 ill get a:
    P8600, 4GB, 320Go 7200RPM, HD4570 512mb ,15.6 led 900p,vista home and 4 year warranty for about 1050€

    if I take the Lenovo Y550 ,here in France they sell this laptop with a 130M GT GDDR3 512mb and 3GB ddr3, 15.6,vista home for 600€ but only 1 year warranty, I just need to change the cpu p8600 +200€ , add a stick of 2GB DRR3 40€ and 80€ in a 320GB 7200rpm for a total cost of about 920€
    http://www.surcouf.com/Catalogue/FicheProduit.aspx?TypeAction=goCar&idproduct=9658899#tab

    Or the Asus N81VP-VX015E: P8700, 4 GB ddr2, 14", HD4650 1GB vram, 320 GB 5400 rpm, 2 year warranty VISTA Pro for 1090€
    http://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00088221.html

    So I guess the biggest question is: is 4 year warranty very that useful?

    Thanks! Chart updated! A Spanish user has contributed the results of Mobility 4530, the differences at 800x600 Low are huge because of the different processors (T9550 vs RM-75), but at 1024x768 Medium I think the difference is quite indicative of GPU performance (+20% for you).

    Well I had a 4 year warranty for my previous laptop.

    The screen burnt out in 3 years and I had it replaced that week.

    When problems like that happen, it makes you appreciate a longer warranty.

    for those of you with a 1080P, i would love to see a comparaison of the differente screen resolution. Take a picture of the screen in 1080P, then 900P and 720P.

    it will surely help a lot of people here to choose between all the 3 resolutions!

    It really depends on what config you're looking for, but you may be able to get a slightly better deal using one of the 20% coupons people are posting here:

    http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=740024

    The 20% must be used on a specific system which is priced a fair bit higher than the "sale" price you see normally on dell.ca...the idea is that with 20% off it works out to a similar price to what you can get directly.

    Is it available in France the 900p display?. The Dell site only allows to configure the 1366x768.
