Dell Part Delay List

My customer service rep email me today to tell me that the Bezel Camera for the Studio 15 is in. I am hoping my system will ship this week.

just wondering, but does dell build their orders in order cause when i was ordering my laptop, i didn't see any "may delay your studio 15 ship date" warning signs on any of the components. but now seeing all these delays in backlit keyboard, soundcard, and apparently now 6-cell batteries...i dunno. cause if they build in order of the purchases, wouldn't my laptop not have suffered any of these delays and only people who order now will??

and polarix...you need to update that list on the first page. 6-cell batteries are now seeing a 4 day delay. 9-cell batteries are apparently 0 days now. backlit keyboard is 12 days

 

I wondered the same thing when i ordered mine but I still got mine before dell estimated so i think youll be fine

 

This isn't a laptop part, but I'm going through the same crap with dell, with a monitor, I ordered it, supposedly arrival in 2 days, ooh, i thought well of it, instantly extended the next day for 7 days

CS Give me the run-a-round, everybody makes a new story of their own. I finally have come to several conclusions, i got a shipping refund, i got my order expedited, the parts have been "back-ordered" yeh right, there is no problem at all and it should arrive soon.

We'll see.

meh, it supposed to ship tomorrow but apparently it's still in the "build" stage. so i'm pretty sure it's gonna be delayed for the second time.

 

arogjaweoiawoegi..sorry for a post right underneath my other post, but DELAYED AGAIN! =( now it has a ESD of 8/18....11 MORE DAYS. seriously, how much more of this crap is gonna go on? i would cancel my order, but i just don't know what other laptop to get to meet the same specs and price range.

 

I ordered a Studio 15 on July 18, and it's was given an outrageous ship date (At least in my opinion - August 1), and only did they tell me it was delayed at about 8 o'clock in the evening on the first. No explanation, just 'sorry it's delayed'. I only found out earlier this week about the more detailed phases than 'In Production' that you can only get by calling in, rather than using the online tool. I've been in 'boxing' all week, apparently, and I doubt that their description (putting the components in a box and taping it shut) takes all that long. Is there somewhere to get a better explanation (and average time frame) for each sub-phase... And if I'm in 'boxing', can I actually expect my new ship date will be accurate?

EDIT: Never mind - when I stopped being a stupid forum noob for a second and went around looking, I found my answers. Post left here for you to point and laugh at.

 

Fault, I ordered a Studio 15 on 7/23 and they gave me a ship date of 8/14. I hope is a good date. I waited a month for an XPS1530 and had to return it because it was defective. I feel your pain.

Ordered 7/23, ESD 8/14

 

Seems like 8/14 is a date a lot of people are getting now. It's also not the standard one-week delay after my last estimated ship date, so I've got some hope for the 14th. - Also, if they ship to me on the 14th, I'll get it on the 18th. Exactly one month.

 

By the way I ***** to a customer service rep and she offered free next business day shipping!!!

Maybe I'll try that on Monday. Though, I'm already getting two-day shipping. There was free two-day shipping when I ordered it. It'll only make a big difference if it actually does ship on the 14th or on another Thursday. Then it's Friday vs. Monday instead of just a one day difference.

 

I ordered a dell xps 1530 on Aug.2 and there was a 12 day delay on the LED LCD screen i got an EDD of Aug.29. hopefully nothing else will get delayed.

 

I just found out that my laptop won't ship until Monday. My original ship date was today. On Monday they told me that it was on a plane coming to the states and today they told me the same thing. Dell lies and their customer service sucks. This will be my last Dell.

About an hour after being told that the laptop would ship on Monday I got an email from Dell telling me that it won't ship until Thursday the 21st. Dell sucks.

9 day delay on the Core 2 duo 2.0ghz. Oh my god.

Never, never am I buying from Dell again. It has been in build mode forever.

 

Relax, Dell is probably doing all they can to order chips, as it is 'Back to School' right now.

Exactly, how are they not prepared for this? They must realize most people need their computer by the end of august.

 

Maybe dell is playing it safe? What if Dell orders tons of T8300 processors expecting to run out of them and then they don't sell all of them?

 

Dell doesn't usually order much more than than are going to use so that they won't get stuck with extra stock they can't sell. The only down side is that sometimes they run out of stock, so that is why you see these delays.

 

Don't -need- your computer by the end of august - you can survive a week or two without it.

Also, don't blame Dell. You're blaming Dell because they're the one posting delays. You've got to realize, that it's probably not Dell, rather the actual manufacturer of the batteries that is experiencing heavy volumes, and is having a hard time producing that many batteries for multiple companies (HP, Dell, Gateway, etc etc etc).

In a nutshell: Stop blaming Dell.

 

Ah thanks for this list. It kinda sucks because there are things on the list where there wasn't any other alternative part. Sigh.

But it's okay. I'm still in early stages and they haven't sent me a delayed email. Hopefully they won't!

 

talking with a sales rep at the moment, she's saying that the hinge for the Studio 15 system is currently on delay -__-"
but then again this is for australia.
