Honestly, even though the delay is not posted I'm willing to bet that's the problem.

Fostina, I'd definitely give Dell a call. The order status number is 1800-433-9014 (US ONLY). After it tells you the status, it'll ask you if you'd like to speak to a representative. Talk to one to see where your order could be, then demand compensation because there are no posted delays for any of the parts that you ordered.

its in the build stage, and from what i could understand "i might be happy to know that it might ship out before the new ship date" i think thats what he said. i was afraid to demand anything, i could barely understand him.

Do these delays mean that my laptop will arrive its est date plus x days?

    That is unacceptable.

    riahc3,

The Boxing stage can take anywhere from 1-4 days (more like 3-4 days).

    Give it time.

Can you please add the Studio 15/17 or point me in the right direction to find out what is delaying the Studio 15.

I hope I don't find out the wireless-N card is causing delays. And I got a 9-cell on my studio 15 so that shouldn't be a problem.

    Updated 7-21-08

Added the Studio 15 and 17 for the United States. Some delays. No more processor delays. SoundBlaster X-Fi now delayed. Battery delays are the same. Dell has removed some covers from the inspiron line. Nothing HUGE has changed though.

How did you get yours expedited? My m1530's estimated ship date is 8/18 (ordered on 7/5) and I need it a fair amount before that because I'm leaving for school that day. I got the 9-cell as well :(

Will any amount of e-mail whining help at all?

Excerpt from a dell email I just received this morning:

"I am sorry to inform you that there are 3 items on your order which are currently in shortage.

They are the Graphics card, LCD Screen and 9 cell battery.

The lead time for Graphics card is 7 days and LCD Screen is 12 and for 9 cell battery it is 20 days."

Might wanna update that list. 20 freakin days for a battery?

What kind of battery did you get? I canceled my Dell laptop order this morning that had a 9-cell with it(not the reason I canceled, I was new to laptops and overpaid for the options I picked - and this morning I found an amazing deal on a dell.com banner). Anyway, I ordered the first one July 14 and the est delivery was Aug 8-12. I ordered a new laptop today and the est delivery is aug 4-8. How does that work out over a battery?

I ordered with a 9 cell. I don't know what rules these people follow. On June 3 I ordered an XPS1530 that was delivered to me July 2nd......it came with a hump on the keyboard and a couple of other problems, after a few days I sent that one back to Dell, got a full credit and ordered the Studio 15 on the 23rd. I don't know what is going on with what part but I hope I don't have any problems with the new Studio.

    It's not dell.

Open up a battery (NOT RECCOMENDED), and you will see many smaller batteries in a circuit. THESE smaller batteries are delayed, and they are from a THIRD party.

So, you can call Dell all you want and complain, when realistically many computer manufacturers are more than likely having delays.

I'm very tired, so what I just said more than likely makes no sense. I will update this list soon.

I know Polarix but Dell is a big company, they should be able to forecast sales an keep an inventory based on whatever that projection is.

Dell uses a manufacturing process where they keep very small inventories. Combine that with battery shortages throughout the industry due to the explosion at a factor and you have yourself a problem.

After more badgering, I received another email from dell today.

"I have checked and found that we have received the Graphics card and 9 cell battery and we are still in receipt of LCD Bezel to process your order."

So I have the 20-day-delayed battery in my building computer and not the 12-day-delayed LCD screen. Great.

Remember, I ordered this laptop on 7/5, and I've read accounts of other people on this forum with the same config as me who ordered later and have already received their laptop. My est ship date has stayed at 8/18 ever since I've ordered it.
