No HFR display with working brightness adjustment yet for our 7577. Some said that our 7577 lacking PWM controls for the HFR display since it comes with stock PWM-free display. So your only choice is find some 60Hz display with cool overclock capability if you care about not blinding your eyes

    Oh really? That sucks.
In that case yeah I would have to find a overclockable panel or just get a dedicated monitor.

I bought an NVMe SSD for my laptop (ADATA XPG SX6000) and it's installed and working

However, a little while ago my PC locked up (I could move the mouse, but do nothing else). I forced a shutdown, and rebooted, and Windows 10 couldn't find my wifi adapter. I checked device manager with "show hidden devices" and it was there, but greyed out, like it wasn't installed. Windows 10 troubleshooter said it couldn't find drivers for the card (since the real card wasn't showing as connected)

The only thing I've changed is from a 2.5" SATA SSD to this NVMe SSD, so I'm pretty sure that's what caused it. After a few more reboots, it suddenly works, but I feel like it will happen agian.

    Any ideas?

Now the machine keeps locking up. Task managed shows 100% disk usage when I'm not doing anything

    upload_2018-5-28_2-25-7.png

It's definitely the drive causing issues, but how do I know if the drive itself is faulty, as opposed to it just not working with this junk laptop?

Edit: open up CrystalDiskInfo, which says "Disk not found"

But now HDD usage has dropped to 0% and everything is fine again?

My dell 7577 is being thermal limit throttled. My cpu Temps after undervolt are 80-85°.The area above the function keys f1-f12 becomes superhot to touch, like I can't keep my finger for more than 3-4 seconds. Unfortunately Returning the laptop isn't a choice :( Right now I've disabled turbo boost which seem to fix the throttling problem but I don't want to lose the performance I've paid for.

EDIT : My laptop is being POWER LIMIT THROTTLED as indicated by XTU. no signs of any thermal throttling.

Would an Intel 800p work as the boot drive in a 7577? I appreciate every second of boot time that gets cut off, and if it's compatible I'm going to have a hard time talking myself out of buying an 800p to slot in as the boot drive.

Yes, your VRM is overheating. Maybe your stock thermal pad for VRM messed up during production. You can call Dell and let them replace your heatsink (yes Dell must replace the entire heatsink with fans for such tiny thermal pad misalignment ). TBH, stock paste and pad are the worst, so replace them with good paste and good pad too (even chinese one on ebay still far better than those mushy flimsy stock pad).

Well that sucks. I don't have dell support in my country. Guess I'll have to change the paste and pads on my own. Disassembly of this laptop seems pretty hard thou, I'm afraid I'll break something :'( . Can you plz suggest me a good thermal pad and paste from AliExpress?

Does the 7577 come with the screws needed to install a 2.5 inch drive?
Or do you need to buy those separately

In the three units that I had (none had a hard drive from Dell) they all had the bracket, screws, and connector included.

And I was curious if I needed to buy them separately, glad to see I don't.

Hey guys, been lurking on here a few weeks
Pulled the trigger on a dell outlet 7757 at a reasonable price

But it comes with a 1tb drive and not the m2 ssd

Was thinking of a complete fresh install anyway, if a buy the m2 ssd is it just as straight forward as installing it in the laptop then installing windows 10 on it ?

Is there any extra software/ drivers I need and/or any bios settings I need to adjust

Prob going to get a 500gb one as this will only have the OS and games on it
Any recommendations which ones to get ?

Really getting a buzz out of this puppy arriving :)

I had nothing but issues with an NVMe M.2 SSD (see the last page)

Still haven't figured out if it's the drive or the laptop itself

im not in any particular hurray to order it, since dell is in no particular hurray to despatch my outlet laptop, delivery date 08/06/2018 WTF!!!!

have emailed to complain for all the good it will do, but honestly, could have prob got a new one put together and delivered quicker !!!

Are you on battery? Then is it normal.
Kn what frequency is it falling? It is also power throttling after reaching the short power max limit while turboing, that is normal and nothing to be concerned about.

I would use the time to find another laptop tbh. My experience with this laptop has been awful. In fact the right arrow key (which I rarely use) just broke off as I was typing this (one of the plastic clips on the back broke)

I assume Dell will make me send the laptop back to them so they can take a month to replace the keyboard.

Nope my laptop is plugged in when gaming. It doesn't power limit throttle when just benchmarking cpu. When both the cpu and gpu are being used then it starts to power limit throttle after 10min of gameplay. It reaches about 2.2Ghz.

    I feel your pain buddy

unfortunately im not going to get another gaming laptop for the same money, and its pretty much all i have, they all have thier own pitfalls, and reading and watching a shed load of reviews from people like Dave Lee etc, i just felt like this was prob worth a try,

also i have prob ordered at least 5-6 laptops/pc's form dell outlet UK inlcuding the Wifes latest Latitude 13 - 7350 Series 2-in-1, and never had to return or get one fixed,

its def the dell lottery, and guess i will find out soon enough if ive got a decent one or not,

Finally got my 7577 after it supposedly got stuck at FedEx's hub in Memphis Tuesday night going into Wednesday afternoon. FedEx said it missed making it's flight out and nobody there knew why. Dell had it sent Overnight Priority (wasted money on their part) and it was supposed to arrive yesterday by 10:30 am but made it just before that time today.

I'm just getting around to doing something with it this evening due to having to get rid of an awful headache after accepting the laptop from the FedEx lady this morning. Going to install Win 10 fresh especially since the Intel Graphics settings are acting so weird after messing with that in it's current state. It had limited color settings so I installed the newest graphics driver from the Dell site which added more options and then when I restarted those additional options disappeared again. I put some of the tips I've seen in the last few pages into wordpad doc that I'm referring to while using my old backup laptop while setting up this new one.

Today is really making me miss the option to search inside the threads themselves for keywords and etc...

Edited to ask: Did anyone else who got this one as a replacement only get the adapter itself and no cord that goes from it into the power outlet?!?

Hey guys, I have some trouble installing newest Intel Graphics Driver, I tried to remove the OEM DELL iGPU driver, but still cannot install Intel Generic Driver, am I missing something or is it not possible to use Intel Drivers instead of the Dell ones? thanks

I feel like an idiot now since this is the 2nd time you've pointed something out to me in the past week. I haven't used the search feature in a loooooooong time I mean since not long after the conversion so I missed improvements being made to it I think. Usually I've just stuck to whatever thread was created for the laptop model I had and a couple other ones.

That's a good question. This laptop does seem to have driver issues. I'm going to have to pickup a couple new USB drives before I can reinstall Windows since the two I have are dead. I'm guessing starting off fresh may be the only way to get the regular non Dell branded graphic drivers to work.

Right? I even tried the method Intel suggests on their website and no luck, got stuck on a version from October 2017 and games like Destiny 2 or the new DayZ test versions just bug out with black screen after launching, they work only after I disable and reenable the iGPU

The Destiny 2 black screen issue is Nvidia related, not Intel related, so relax.

You new guys are tripping. Aside from the audio quality being pretty "meh" (it's a Windows 10 issue at its root, not really a driver issue), this machine is fine and flawless for me on the software front. I think it's Windows 10 you all are getting hung up on and not the 7577's software.

Also, how much was everyone able to undervolt by?

I have the i5-7300HQ and the CPU is stable at -.155v which seems a little above average, however the iGPU is stable at -.195 which seems unusual (most people on the internet mention between 30-80)

Or am I doing something wrong?

Looks like Windows 10 animations to me. Look on the one screen that asks if you want to optimize windows for performance or visuals. There are lots of check boxes.

You probably aren't stressing your machine hard enough for any issues to show up. Also sometimes issues will show when idling and entering sleep mode. Your numbers are at the far end but not absolutely impossible. If you aren't running anything critical, see how long you can go before you get a random error or shutdown.

When I first turned my 7577 on I only had the Brightness and Contrast options in that panel. I knew I wouldn't be able to install the drivers from Intel's site since the laptop had Dell's customized ones on it so I updated to the latest one on Dell's site since it said that was one of the drivers mine was behind on. After the update the Hue and Saturation options were there and I used those to make the colors look better so things did seem as washed out. As soon as I turned it on the next time the washed out colors were back and those extra two settings were gone. The Dell site said I had the latest driver.

I did a fresh install of Windows this morning and downloaded the driver from Intel's site directly and still only have the Brightness and Contrast options available. Is there anything I can do to get the Hue and Saturation ones back again so they'll stick?

I had that problem and i cant remember what triggered it in the BIOS. Its maybe disabling legacy option ROMS. or disabling secure boot.

I am running the skip ahead build of Windows and cannot reproduce it, i tried to but saturation is there no matter what ive done.

So its either the build of Windows i am on or the intel drivers i am using.22.20.16.4836

But on my old 7577 that problem reared its head and by accident i had fixed it disabling or enabling one of those in the BIOS and could reproduce the missing saturation option.

Try secure boot first with what you are running now. Then try maybe the drivers i am using if you cannot figure it out.

I tried most of your suggestions. I couldn't get that driver version to install because I kept getting the message that my system didn't meet the minimum requirements. The DellCares people keep DM'ing me to try and get me to say I'm pleased with this replacement which right now I'm not because I can't get the color settings the way I'd like them.

I tried the color profile for the UHD screen and it helped a bit. While my 7559 was away I've been using my old 17in Inspiron 5720 which has more color depth then the 7557 I was sent. I'm missing the 7559's screen too because I was able to tweak it to my liking. I want to give a good wack upside the back of whoever's head that came up with letting Windows control the saturation and hue settings which resulted in those options being removed from the Intel Graphic Controller setting for the 630.

I think I might just be honest with the DellCares people and tell them how unhappy I am with these color issues. I have had the same wallpaper image on all three of the models I mentioned and color wise it looks the worst on my 7557 due to the colors being so washed out. I'm beginning to think the screen may have been why this one was sent back in the first place.

I told them I wasn't pleased with the screen. Now they want me to provide them with a 2-hour time frame so that they can look into the issues and help me with "the best options available.".

Anyone else not been happy with the unit they were sent to replace a previous one? What did Dell do in regards to that?

Did I chase everyone else away from replying or have people moved on to discussing the newer "G" modes that have come out?

There is nothing Dell will do for you. It's a cheap panel. If you like the laptop and hate the screen then I suggest replacing the screen yourself.

Anyone that wants to downgrade there BIOS to 1.2.0 or 1.1.3 for any reason it is possible even though Dell blocks it if trying to do it the standard way.

    1. Get a USB stick and format it to FAT32

    2. Download the BIOS of your choice and rename it to BIOS_IMG.rcv Make sure it looks exactly like that with rcv being lower case. You will probably have to enable show file extension types in your file explorer options in Control Panel because the file is .exe and you want to change that to .rcv

    3. Power off the machine and insert USB stick and pull the power plug. Now hold CTRL+ESC on the left while plugging in the power cord. Hold the 2 keys till you see the Dell logo then a custom recovery menu will appear.

    4. First thing is Reset all BIOS settings, let it do its thing, it will power on and off a few times now power down the machine again and repeat steps 3 of holding the 2 keys and plugging in the power cord only thiis time when the Custom recovery menu appears just click on the option asking you to install a different BIOS.

I have downgraded to 1.2.0 and 1.1.3 so it is certainly possible to downgrade no matter what anyone tells you.

I found a few posts of people asking about this so i figured i would do a quick write up on what i had discovered for the few who want to do it.

Looking for help. I am attempting to run an hdmi attached monitor at 144hz or 120hz. I have the ViewSonic XG2402 https://www.viewsonic.com/us/xg2402.html which has 144hz through the hdmi ports.

    FYI, I have the Dell 7577, i5 with GTX 1060 Max-Q

I purchased a new certified hdmi 2.0 cable, so I know the hdmi cable is good.

FYI, I plan to run the laptop with the lid closed / laptop display off.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Sorry to bother everyone again, but is there like a final list of supported panels. From what I gather there are several options.

There's better 60hz panels (no idea which ones).

There's an AUO panel that can be overclocked to 100hz (i can't find it)

    There's 3 120 hz panels for consideration.

Zephrus 120hz IPS (brightness doesn't work)
AUO 120hz TN (brightness doesn't work)
Chi Mei MSI Panel TN (brightness works)

Can anyone confirm or deny my findings and correct me if I got something wrong.
