    Hi there,

I definitely would love to help you. I have them both installed, and I have GPU temperature clicked to instrument. However, it shows 0 most of the time (and it's not because I chose the intel one). My MSI Afterburner does not display GPU temperature. Here are some sample screenshots:

    Unigine:
    https://imgur.com/2f9Awt3

Note that it is working fine there. It works fine in KF2 too:
    https://imgur.com/bww3X4L

But other games, even when the fans spin up, don't trigger the instrumentation properly:
    https://imgur.com/8z6HDoi

Sometimes the GPU flickers temperature, but generally my MSI Afterburner almomst always looks like this:

That doesn't look like mine at all in terms of the render and color... It could be a few different things I suppose. Have you tried a different render type in Riva Tuner? Also I imagine RT is having a hard time hooking the game DLL's so you can try different hooking aggressiveness or methods in its settings (sorry I'm not at my computer right now). It could potentially be anti-cheat measures being employed by a game disrupting the process but I would imagine most modern games would account and allow for hardware monitoring injections. Do you have antivirus installed?

I would start with using DDU to fully uninstall your graphics driver and then download and reinstall it from scratch straight from Nvidia, don't let Windows do it. Then use Revo Uninstaller to fully remove Afterburner and Riva Tuner. Then redownload and install those from scratch. After that you need to go through the settings and configure AB and RT properly.

It looks like you may have conflicting hardware monitoring happening but it's hard to tell from the handful of screen caps you shared. Do you have Intel XTU or Throttle Stop or HWInfo or any other major apps like that trying to monitor your hardware at the same time?

Also www.snag.gy is a super easy way to share full screen caps.

Sorry I don't recognize the acronym DDU. Display driver uninstaller? Do laptops respond well to it?

I have ordered my dell 7577 on a crazy discount. Looking at the specs of the screen, it seems that the color accuracy is terrible? I'm thinking on replacing it with a better one because i'm using Lightroom alot. Do you have any recommendations for a better matte IPS FHD screen?

Thx. I already read page 47-51 before i asked. Its just that i am thinking: What if i want to choose the different screen than discussed there using panelook website. What will custom90gt do if he wants to do what i am thinking. I am such a newbie in this screen world

I guess i will just use the true tested screen in the future, which means your choice of screen upgrade (Samsung LTN156HL01). Thank you for the reply. With this screen upgrade, Inspiron 7577 have become the ideal laptop for my "not so mobile" lifestyle.

I have the UHD Screen. I will test it with my Datacolor Spyder in the afternoon. It should be way better than the terrible FHD Screen.

    So my recommendations are here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/dell-inspirion-7577.808514/page-50#post-10647637

Take them with a grain of salt since I only spent a couple of hours researching screens. I am very happy with my purchase though.

So I didn't just use panel look. I used notebookcheck to see what their opinions were on screens. I used this forum to see what people with the Dell 7559 were doing because they were really in need of a screen replacement. Any of the ones I listed should work based on panel type, connector, and connector location.

The samsung isn't the only one that's been tested in the 7577, polihedron went with a LG LP156WF6-SPB1 which is also an excellent choice. I used the samsung because I found a genuine panel for really cheap.

So to sum up I would say:
    1. Do your homework and make sure the screen will work (connector, location, panel size, mounting locations)
    2. Purchase a genuine screen since the cheap knockoffs on ebay may look worse
    3. Ask questions if you're not sure.

Please share your findings and if it needs calibration, maybe even post your calibrated color profile here. I am one of the few with the UHD as well. Not that I do any photo or video editing myself, but I'd rather use more accurate colors if possible.

    @custom90gt @GoNz0

Sadly, my replacement 7577 did not show up yesterday December 22 as was directly promised to me multiple times by my point of contact who is supposedly a manager, so I am pretty pissed off.

At this point I don't expect to see it until after the New Year... I am out of patience and about to start bombarding Dell at all levels and going straight up the escalation ladder.

Unfortunately the earliest I can start that will be Wednesday December 27. I ordered the damn thing on October 31 and sent it in for repair on November 17 mind you.

That's crazy. Do you have any time today to call them and complain? Did they give you tracking on it or anything? GoNz0 can help more than I can here, but you should be compensated somehow for this. Either a partial refund or a warranty upgrade or something, otherwise I'd tell them you're going to do a chargeback and they can just keep their laptop.

They are closed Saturday and Sunday and Monday is Christmas and they are also closed the day after Christmas on Tuesday. Have not received any tracking details, only empty promises. I have already threatened the chargeback but the problem is I actually want the machine and the deal I got on my build was better than the Black Friday deal so I don't want to lose it or have to re-purchase it unfortunately.

Basically what I would do, I would be asking for either a partial refund or the warranty extending by at least 2 years (from the date the system lands on your door not when Dell say)

If this had shipped it would show on your account https://www.dell.com/support/orders/us/en/04/Order/List

Did not realize there Dell.com order section existed, but it appears to be blank all around. As far as I can tell my particular case seems to be being handled off of the "official" system.

I am currently looking up corporate emails and contacts to get in touch with and will likely craft a few emails and hand written letters this weekend to send after Christmas.

Found a review for the 7577 here: http://laptopmedia.com/review/dell-inspiron-15-7577-gtx-1060-max-q-review-improved-but-still-flawed/

What's interesting is that they calibrate the display, and they do it for different usage scenarios etc. The one I was interested in was there "Design & Gaming" profile. As the name suggests, its for gaming and also movie watching etc.

So I purchased the profile as it was only $4.97 (or £3.85 for me), so thought it was worth a shot!

I got to say, the results are very impressive! The whites of my display are now white, rather than yellow, and the colours seem much more natural etc.

I'm really please so far :)

Wondered if someone else with more knowledge of display calibrations could look into it and see what's going on here?

I meant, if anyone else could give it a go (install their profile) and see what they think. Is it accurate etc?!

I suppose, I don't really know what I'm asking haha
It made sense in my head... lol

Figured out why it was missing, the 1060 GPU was not being automatically selected on some games, it was going with integrated. Once I manually set them it shows up all the time.

Just wondering if anyone else is having problems with distorted audio?
With most things, its fine. Music = no problem, even at full volume, same for general game audio.
But certain frequencies, like people speaking and system notification sounds tend to make the sound distort, even at low volume so I can barely hear the sound being played, there is still distortion!!!
I captured it on my phone and uploaded to youtube (volume is at 100% in the clip):

I agree! Its the right one. If I put my ear to it, I can quite clearly hear it buzzing away.

I really, really, REALLY don't want to send my laptop back to dell for repair!
I need to sort it, as I do like to sit down and watch a few youtube videos etc and it's driving me mad!

Will Dell try and repair it? Of will they just do a straight "Door step" exchange?
Its brand new, so I don't want it "repaired" :-(

From my experience so far, you should expect to be without it for over a month if you send it to Dell for repair... Ymmv.

Or if you want to crack it open yourself, head over to my thread and easily grab the service manual which guides you in disassembly so you can attempt the repair yourself.

Yeah I've been reading all about your problems, and on a new machine that's quite frankly appalling!
If its under 28 days old you should just be given s straight swap.

I'll phone Dell and see what they say, but I got a free Dell Visor with it, which is due to be delivered on 27th Dec, so don't want to be without my laptop AT ALL!
And as it's new, I shouldn't have to be.
I'll put that to them, they might offer an exchange but I doubt it.

I did see your manual, thanks!
The speakers are really buried within the system, surely Id be voiding the warranty if I dig that far into the system?

They agreed to a full replacement in my case since they couldn't get their sh*t together in replacing the keyboard on my original unit. But only after I got on top of them since they say they will contact you, but never actually do so.

The problem with the replacement process is still lack of adequate communication in addition to lying to me about when the replacement unit would arrive just to keep me quiet I guess. Lucky for them I've been busy with my family life and school otherwise I would have been a much squeakier wheel.

I was initially told 7 to 12 business days over the phone when arranging for the repair of the initial faulty unit. That time frame has long since come and gone. Don't let them tell you that without getting it in writing, as it is easier to bargain with in writing. I didn't actually get mine in writing, but I do have it recorded on my phone since I record all of my phone calls using an app.

As for voiding the warranty... Technically yes it would. But only if you tell them or left obvious signs that you had been in the laptop. There are no warranty voiding seals internally afaik. It really depends how comfortable and skilled you are with disassembling complex appliances.

Ok, I suppose as long as there is no warranty problem then I may as well give it a go. But really don't want to.
More of an OCD thing for me, I don't want my brand new machine being taken apart, either by me or Dell! Although I'd have more faith in me doing it then a Dell technician lol

Thanks! I paid for my profile, and have no problems sharing it, but don't want to get into any trouble lol What's the best way of sharing the file?

Excellent! Don't suppose you went anywhere near, or saw the speakers did you?

I did see the speakers but didn't spend any time with them. I just read about your issues, they are NOT easy to get to that's for sure. You may be better returning your order and placing a new order to minimize your down time.

I made something similar with my LP156WF6-SPB1 screen, and I notice that is quite difficult to reproduce colors difference between displays using dslr camera, especially on low brightness, so I chose vibrant and juicy color images to compare. Photos made in the manual mode with the same exposure settings, but somehow brightness difference between the displays is not so visible on images, than on live view.

LP156WF6-SPB1 with 100% brightness on the left, and on the right stock LP156WF6-SPM3 with 100% brightness:

Hmmm ok. Thanks for your help :)

Having a closer inspection, it feels like the speaker is just slightly touching the housing. When playing audio, if I put my finger on the left speaker grill there is no vibration or anything, but on the right speaker (the one with the distortion), the grill is really vibrating! If I push hard enough, I can stop the distortion.

I may give opening it up a go, I'm fine with screws, but I hat stupid plastic tags! I find they either break, or I will marks on the housing :-(

The service manual stated that you have to pop some tags to remove the palm rest assembly, do you do this from underneath, or do I have to use one of those plastic things and wedge it down between the palm area and housing?

    Update:

I got an email update early this morning from my point of contact with Dell. My replacement should be delivered Wednesday December 27 now due to holiday delays. We shall see.

All you need to do is ask them for the details so you can track it then you will know the state of play.

Be prepared for a delay in receiving it. Holiday shipping is a crap shoot at best.

Yeah he finally shared the FedEx tracking number with me. Just checked it on FedEx website and it says Wednesday expected delivery.

    Talk about pulling teeth....

They originally quoted me 7-12 business days on November 10 to have the keyboard replaced so you can see why I am pretty annoyed with this entire process at this point. They should have prioritized my case a bit higher if they were really interested in customer satisfaction.

Happy holidays to all of you! I'm really glad to see this thread still going strong. Following the discussion here is really nice and I'm glad that the community is able to tackle that many problems.

To those of you that upgraded the ram on their units what did you get? Do any of you know what I should be looking at? Same frequency (2400MHz), does CAS matter? Speccy is showing the default ram I got in my ram to be 8 gigs but the only 8 gig/2400 stick I can find in my country is CAS 14 while 16 gig sticks are completely different (2133MHz).
Does anyone know if these things matter when upgrading ram as I haven't done that without replacing ALL off the ram sticks and simply going with a complete new set.

Get the lowest CAS you can find. Stick with the 2400Mhz if possible. Lower voltage is better if they offer multiple voltage modules. Higher capacity RAM modules typically have slightly higher latencies than smaller capacity modules. If you end up going with mixed module specs they will default to the lower and slower of the pair.

All said, the differences between 2133 MHz and 2400 MHz and slightly higher latencies will likely be negligible in 95% of use cases.

Thanks for the clear up! I've ordered a RAM stick that has faster CAS than the one I am now ordering a second 8gb ram stick to to slot into the laptop :D

Also I must say that it's painful just reading about your experience with Dell support.

I've also been toying a bit with ThrottletStop and undervolting my CPU, for those of you that did (i'm on the i5-7300HQ here) have you been using an udervolted CPU while gaming or just for battery saving?

So, I contacted Dell about my speaker. I've had a response with the usual nonsense about wanting me to update drivers etc, and a line that says if the speaker is still distorted then they will have to repair my laptop!

That's not going to happen. I want a new one, or I shall just return this one for a refund and order a replacement on a new order.
The same deal is currently still active until the end of today, 12% off code and the free Dell Visor. My Dell visor from this order is due to be delivered today, so I can see this all getting very messy...
I may just not bother and stick with my 7567 :-(
