    Hello guys!
    I have some questions:
    - The material of this Inspiron is only plastic or it has metal finishes??
    - How is the 1080p ips display quality??

    thanks

I don't know if you read, but one of the people who received their laptop installed a SATAIII M.2 SSD in it. That's pretty much the easiest way to find out which type of connection it is.

As far as I know, if it's a SATA III M.2 slot, that means it isn't a PCIe slot.

Got any source on them being mutually exclusive? Can't find that anywhere.

Depends on the starting spec, all but the highest and lowest models have the option to change the Color.

For a standard fit you need the 80MM but I used a shorter one with a drop of hot glue to hold it in place.

I don't personally know of any laptop that can support both formats currently (not saying they don't exist, just saying I don't know of any). Almost all machines made to date supported either one or the other.

I also highly doubt a laptop of this class/price range would support both. But I could be wrong. I mean, the XPS 15 supports PCIe, so maybe this does too.

Yes that would be nice. I have been using hot glue on boards in industrial builds for years, it meets ISO standards so it's good enough for me!

Mine arrives on (supposedly) Nov 2nd. I intend to find out for sure, but I still hope someone will actually let us know before that...

It would be nice to know if the XPS supports both PCIe AND SATA on the same socket. If it's PCIe only (no SATA) then I guess we can start assuming that the 7559 is SATA only.

Edit: When the hell are laptop manufacturers going to publish REAL specs on their products instead of 4 points of data? :D

Yeah, Dell especially is bad with this.

The specs sheet says it has an M.2 slot. Whoopee. What format/size? SATAIII or PCIe? Same goes with other stuff. It tells you the resolution of the display, but nothing else.

If you're the type of person to actually look through the specs sheet, you probably want more detailed information than "1920x1080 resolution" or "M.2 slot".

According to you, is it possible that only the italian querty keyboard isn't backlit, while all the others are? I see that on usa, deutchland, uk and france keyboards are backlit ok the specs sheets...
I hope it's only an error

The only issue I'm having so far is with the track pad.

I can't get the pinch to zoom in and out to work .

No really a big deal as I mostly use an optical mouse anyway.

But I'd like to fix this issue.

    Any suggestions.....

What is the maximum RAM this system supports?
I wanted to run some emulators and a 32GB kit would be quite helpful.
Also, Can some one recommend a good compatible 32GB kit?

I have confirmation from Dell Spain that is not possible to choose gray or other color.

The red lines around the trackpad are a sticker? Is possible to remove it?

Thank you for your comments Amperex. I hate the red too in a notebook.

The red lines around track pad are painted on. Not possible to remove.

I suppose after you decide to keep notebook. You could cover the red with black marker or perhaps self adhesive plastic automotive pinstripe

Actually, Skylake are the first mobile CPUs that can take up to 64GB of memory and up to 16GB per slot.
32GB should be possible when 16GB DDR3L SODIMMs will be available (haven't seen any, yet.)

No idea TBH, i dont have a Dell!
Would expect only normal driver updates rather than an important BIOS flash to be automatic but that is only a guess.
Guess the OP or anyone else with the 7559 can confirm what BIOS their's shipped with.

Yea, I couldn't find many 32GB options and the ones available are pretty expensive, maybe I'll do 16 now and replace when the costs go down a bit.
Here is the only one I found :

Does the memory upgrade have to be in matched pairs.?

    You can't have 8 + 16 or 8+4

    It has to be 8+8

    or 16+16

    or 4+4

    etc

    thanks

    Two small quirks I noticed.

In sleep mode, the power button goes dark. It should blink on and off.

No light on the Ethernet port when cable is plugged in.

Hi, how is your fan? Is it very noisy? Mine is very noisy like a table fan when playing games. And when handling normal task, the fan may speed up ocassionally but just last for about 10 seconds.

For the italian model and the backlight question.

"Illumina i tuoi giochi: non perdere un colpo con la tastiera retroilluminata che consente di giocare o utilizzare il computer anche di notte. Il touchpad integrato offre il supporto per comandi gestuali rapidi e precisi."

No, it doesn't need to be matched pairs, you can use any combination you want, but remember: this laptop has only 2 DDR3L SODIMM slots, so 4+4 is out of the question.

About the backlit keyboard options, installing a backlit keyboard is actually very easy and they're pretty cheap on ebay (about 20 bucks).
You can use any keyboard from older models (Inspiron 3542 or 5548, Latitude E3550 and so on) as they're the same one.

I think the 7548 looks better, but they're 2 different laptops. The 7548 is an ultrabook with an ULV CPU and low-to-mid range GPU, while the 7559 is a true desktop replacement.

I don't know if I'd go so far as to call the 7559 a true DTR. It has a weak GPU, only two HDD/SSD storage bays, only 2 RAM slots, and based on prior offerings, there's a decent chance the CPU will throttle and not be able to hold its turbo clocks for very long (like the new Alienware lineup).

As far as the lighted keyboard issue - When ordered (10/16), I didn't specify the optional lighted version, yet it shows up on my invoice & packing slip. It's supposed to arrive tomorrow (10/23), so I can help resolve some of the mysteries surrounding the 7559. Can't wait!

Same thing here, there was no option to choose the backlit keyboard - it seems its the default.

I'm somewhat annoyed at the delayed shipping though - I ordered mine on the 13th, and its still showing estimated delivery of November 2nd.

Isn't that the truth. There was an issue with my order, if I hadn't called on the day their system said it was supposed to be delivered I am not sure when I would have found out I needed to re-order. The first order was still showing In Production.
