Hi guys, since installing the calibrated .icm file, I've noticed that when I startup the laptop it takes some time before I can change the brightness or open certain apps. Until the screen 'snaps' into place (don't know any other way to describe it); then the colour changes and I am able to change the brightness, via the keys, and apps start to open correctly.

Anyone got any ideas why this happens? Thanks.

I have the 4k LG display and this profile made the whites look yellowish to me. I can understand the BOE screens on the base model having color problems but on the 4k LG screen at least for me the default is perfect.

Hi guys! Yesterday I received my Dell laptop. I had contacted with one friend to prepare the computer and to install the SSD. He did all the work and the Inspiron works very very well. It's fantastic! I will write my own opinion in one or two weeks later.

Hey guys! I got my own 7559 yesterday. Base model. I love this thing but i hate the screen. It's terrible! It's not just yellowish but it doesn't get bright enough.

Anyways, i want to replace it with this one. My friend is giving me. The model is LG Philips LP156WF6-SPB1
I think he said it's 30 pins. The laptop he removed it from is a Schenker p505 based on Clevo P651SG.

Please i need quick reply. He will ship it to me in a few hours. Cheers.

I don't know if you got your issue solved. However, Google 'DirectX End user web installer'. Download that and run it while connected to the internet. It's 91MB. This should fix. Cheers.

I believe this will work, at least I hope so because I have one en route to me right now. I originally was shipped the wrong item and I guess for some reason I never noticed it. I got LG Philips LP156 WF4-SPB1 which is the older model. From my research it appears the one I got is a tad bit brighter, but the response time is 35ms vs 25ms on the WF6, and the stock BOE display is 30ms. 35ms just is too higher IMO and I can notice it during games especially bad in FPS games that I play. 25ms is still quite high, and I think I would be happier with a TN monitor for this reason, but I'm hoping the new one is satisfactory. I will update you later.

Hey mate, Thanks for the reply. Are you saying the screen I'm getting isn't good enough and will cause me to lose FPS? I don't really understand. Kindly noob it down for me a little. Is this a good screen? It should be. I saw it for about $75 on ebay.

No, the screen you selected should be very good and is the same one I am getting as a replacement. Its definitely brighter, not yellow, and has the lowest pixel response time (according to panelook.com) of all the LG IPS screens I've seen so far. My guess is that it will be a very good screen and you will be happy. I get my replacement tomorrow and will update you with my results.

From my understanding with a 25ms response time of black-white-black as it is measured on the website specs, we will see an actual response time of around 5ms-7ms gray to gray or GTG (which is how most monitors are advertised). 5ms or less should be more than acceptable for FPS gaming unless you are trying to be a pro or something like that.

Thanks for ur spot-on response once more. I will ask him to ship it out to me today. Hopefully DHL can deliver it by Friday or Saturday. :)

Seems it's the 3rd best display Notebookreview likes. From this link anyways - http://www.notebookcheck.net/The-Best-Notebook-Displays-As-Reviewed-By-Notebookcheck.120541.0.html

Btw, lower or higher response time, which is better? Kinder confused about that. Should be lower. Lol i don't know.

Good find, nice to see that it's so highly rated. Lower response times are better. Best I've found so far for IPS is 25ms which is on this display.

I'm don't use my PCs for professional work so RGBs matter a lot less to me than brightness or response times. However, comparing it to the others there it seems to be rather good, and is only surpassed by one screen by a few percent. If you need the laptop for professional work, maybe head over to panelook and look for something that is similar in size, power, connection, yet has better viewing angles and RGB coverages?

Nope. Definitely not professional work. My friend giving me the screen actually changed it because he needed the number 2 screen on that list for professional work. I don't. :)

The screen looks to be amazing from the ratings. I hope it comes in quick and works good.

Btw, can someone make a video that shows how to change the screen myself? It would save me $20 if i did it myself. Is there a tiny slot to fit in a flat screw driver at the top between the front and back of the screen? I can swear i see something there. A tiny slit. Middle-Left position.

    Exactly, same process, very easy.

Bad news.. They sent me the same screen again! Thats twice I've received the wrong item. I am getting a full refund yet again and have since replaced my screen with the crappy old BOE again. I called a few different sellers on eBay and they all told me I would probably get a "compatible model" While the WF4 is a nice screen, its response time is poor and I won't settle for it.

Sorry about the wrong screen mate. Why not get the one I'm getting from ebay? From a different seller. Or go the 'Chinese' way as someone suggested. Lol.

I think I'd give it a go when i get the screen. It's crazy to pay someone $20+ to do just that. Oh well!

    SCREEN CALIBRATION (1080p BOE SCREEN)

I calibrated my screen ever so very sweetly, Lol. I used the calibration file from page 105 then i went into Intel Graphics Properties, Chose ' Display'. In ' Color settings', Under 'Color Enhancement' i selected blue color then set Gamma to ' 1.2'. Then clicked on Advanced and set the Saturation to 30.

I like my screen saturated (like AMOLED on Samsung phones). Give it a try too and see if you like it. My screen was a 3 out of the box, now it's a 7 :D

I want to replace the screen of my laptop. The screen has not arrived yet but i want to be ready to go immediately it comes. The hinge covers, i don't know if they come off completely or they are part of the body/bezel and they open up only in the middle like in the picture shown below.

Hi guys, just realized there are 4 partitions in the 1 TB HDD. Why can't I delete the recovery partitions because they are 100% free of space anyway and don't have recovery files on them...if I were to make a backup, could I select this partition as the destination using Windows recovery system?

I want to do this so I can invest in an M.2 ssd and then copy the OS only

I don't exactly understand what you mean, however... When i buy an SSD, I'll use EaseUS Partition master. Pro version to move my Windows to the SSD. Does this help? Lol

I just got one of these and I am pretty excited about it. I was wondering why all the whining about the screen was happening, but I checked and I have an LG screen so I am pretty happy about that fact. Laptop has a nice feeling, doesn't feel flimsy. Trackpad is definitely the worst part, take a little bit of travel before it actually moves, I guess to prevent the cursor from moving when you are tapping on something? Also there is just the tiiiiniest bit of looseness to it. Not nearly as bad as some others have received. I am impressed by how cool it feels when running new games at full settings. Never uncomfortable. Battery life is awful when gaming, but very good when not. I am glad that I am not regretting this laptop.

If I ever decided to be crazy and wanted a quhd screen on this, is there a matte version that would be compatible to install?

Is urs an i5 with LG screen or i7? I find it weird that they'll choose to put 2 diff screens on exactly the same spec lappys. Maybe they ran out of the quality thing and decided. Hey! U paying only 800 box anyways, here have a shxt screen! Thank you! :)

So I am getting one of these and will put some extra ram and ssd in there.

About the screen. I would really prefer the FHD because it's matte and consumes less power.

But, I will go for the higher resolution if that guarantees a good screen.

So, what screens are they using? I have read maaany pages but can't find a definitive answer.

Fhd comes in one LG (better) and another one (worse).

Can't order a samsung display as shipping and taxes kills me here in Sweden.

    Cheers

    It's a BOE Screen.
BOE NV156FHM-N41. It's a decent screen at best after calibration. But default mode. 3/10. After calibration maybe a 6.5/10

Here is a comparison to the one I'm getting -

    you can delete them
however let's say you install windows on ssd, windows will create them as well, just act them is system reserved
as for windows recovery and clone I no idea about them, because I do clean install on the ssd

I asked since, nobody answered. When removing bezel/changing screen, do the hinge covers come off completely? Or they are part of the bezel/back of the screen?

    Hi

I can't enable the GTX960m on editing software ! Anyone had this issue too ?

I'm using Sony Vegas and with complex editing the preview even in lowest settings is running very low framerate (maybe 1 frame per 2 secondes) ! It's terrible even my 5 years old laptop do way better !

I don't understand why I can't enable the GTX on vegas, I already checked the nvidia pannel and forced the GPU on Vegas, and why right clic on vegas I set "run it with the Nvidia GTX960...etc"

    Any idea ? Thanks

    Hi,
I bricked my Inspiron 7559 last month. Today I managed to unbrick it with a CH341A. If someone needs help with a failed bios update/modification I might help. :)

The hinge covers do not need to be removed. The bezel should pop right off with half of the hinge cover part of the bezel. Just lean the screen all the way back to remove the bezel. Really easy to replace screen. Just a couple of screws to remove once you pop off the bezel.

Are any of the following screens compatible with the 7559?

Samsung 156HL01/LTN156HL01 (are these the same? I've seen places say it was IPS but TN in the model number...)
Sharp LQ156M1 (from the XPS 9550)

My goal is as close to 100% sRGB, and I hate wide-gamut displays.

Are there any decent 2560x1440 screen that would fit?

Just got a replacement laptop myself since the old one I had developed a cracking noise when opening and closing the laptop. I was within the return period and offered a return or replacement. I took a replacement. I got an LG screen (LGD04B9) on this unit as opposed to the BOE display and IMO the LG is far worse! Its very dim compared to the BOE and the colors out of the box were very washed and poor. I also seem to have some sort of weird "box" around the entire outter edge of the screen about a half of an inch thick. It's not always there and more noticeable when first booting on a lighter colored background. Maybe it was the display breaking itself in? Either way I was tempted to swap out the screen for the BOE until my replacement LG arrives tomorrow.

Edit: After a slight calibration, the screen looks much better but the brightness is either about the same or slightly dimmer than the BOE display. Either way I'm glad I'll be replacing it tomorrow.

I have a LP156WF6 SPB1 arriving tomorrow. Hopefully 3rd time is the charm on this screen. Its supposed to be the real deal, and it should offer the best response times and color brightness of all the screens I've had.

Haha bro! U decided to get the WF6? Like i did. I hope it's great, i hear it's great. Hopefully, 3rd time will be the charm and u give a great review. Mine won't be in till next week I'm sure.

I guess we now know where and where Dell cut corners on this one.

What is sad is this LGD04B9 display is the same one they are putting on the new Alienware 15s. Sad sad because the brightness is very poor IMO. Its has to be worse than the BOE with maybe only slightly better colors/contrast. Either way it is far from a premium screen and totally unacceptable for an Alienware or premium laptop IMO. I would expect it in something like this Inspiron for the price, just not anything more expensive.

I'll let you know what I think of this new screen I have coming today. Third time better be the charm haha! I got the wrong screen twice, and this is supposed to be the real deal according to the seller.

Ebay seller in US yes. Many of the sellers on eBay will list that you're getting a specific model, but put in fine print that they may send and most likely will send a "comptaible" screen instead of the one you're trying to order.

I managed to find a seller that had pictures of the exact model I am looking for and he informed me it was correct.

Another seller sent me 2 of the wrong screens, even after the first one and them telling me they would send the correct one next time. Both were returned for full refunds though so no biggie, just a waste of time.

I hope you get the correct screen.

I got the screen and it's 100% legit! Perfect screen with zero issues. My god its so much better than any of the screens I've tried so far. Very bright, white are very white and blacks are black, great colors and the response time is certainly noticeable. Games don't blur and images are clear and crisp.

I am extremely pleased with this monitor. Anyone looking for an excellent screen replacement I don't think you can do much better than this one.

Also please can you tell how much it affects battery life? Do web browsing on WiFi for 30 minutes. Lowest brightness with Power saver on. I want to properly compare conditions to my test on the BOE screen.

50 mins on battery. Wifi surfing on Firefox with hardware acceleration turned off. And power saver on. Lowest brightness. Only 6% drop :)
