Any solution to this? NOT disable NVIDIA graphics?

I'm curious about people having Wifi and graphics card issues. Did you upgrade the laptop with the 10-15 different updates on the dell website? I am running stock everything.. bios 1.0.3.. no updates done, and everything is flawless.. no wifi issues.. no trackpad or screen issues other than a tiny bit of backlight bleed in the top left corner.. nvidia card is working properly.. The people running into issues did you update Wifi / Nvidia / Intel drivers? And if you did, did you use Dells drivers or Microsofts?

Never had any wifi issues. I haven't seen any reports of Nvidia issues that I recall.

I played Diablo 3 last night for a few hours, everything was great on 1980X1020 and Ultra settings. The fans didn't kick in much which I was quite surprised with. The laptop does get a little bit warm after a gaming session, but it's not too bad. I will say that this thing will end up probably being a fingerprint magnet.. though pretty much all laptops I have are because I always get black. That being said, I really like the rubbery feel of the palm rests.. it's a nice touch.. Keyboard is easy to get used to for me. Trackpad is a little meh.. It's alright and will probably just take some getting used to.. If you are on the fence about getting it, I would definitely recommend it, unless you are coming from an older laptop with an AMAZING screen, then you will probably be disappointed slightly. The specs of the laptop, the look of it, and the price, it was definitely worth the money and I am very satisfied and happy with the purchase.

I ordered mine today. The estimated time is November 17th. I took the 4k screen (since the FHD review wasn't that nice) and the 16gig of ram with 128 SSD + 1TB. I wanted something lighter in weight but for the price, this laptop seems to be the best choice if you are a developer like me that also like doing Photoshop and some video editing. I will give you my feedback once I get it. The final price was 1223$, bought if from Dell.

Testing out the battery life now. What power plan do you guys use? Is the custom 'Dell' one the best? Or do you create your own? On the dell one it says I have crazy battery life left. I'm assuming I need to let it normalize.. I'm very curious how much actual usage battery life I will get..

Looks like the power plan I was using was having a very negative impact on battery life. Still running a test (playing HD movies), but Battery bar is now showing 3 hours of run time left after over an hour of use.

Was using the Samsung Performance profile, now use the Dell Profile.

Yes it is. You can buy a 2x2 card like the Intel 7265 and swap it out.

Man Im still not sure whether to get this laptop or not. I think I can deal with the screen since my last computer was a crappy Acer. Since the wifi card can be changed thats good too. Im still between this or the Clevo, but the Dell offers way better warranty.

Thank you Ramzay for your fast answer.
This is a good news. I will start with the current wireless card but will definitely looks forward to change it in the future. It's pretty cheap improvement (under 30$).

Well I was thinking on getting the N155RD, but if I go the Clevo way I was kinda thinking of pushing myself and my budget to get the P650RE3. I am not such a heavy gamer at all (more console gaming) but having the better graphics card seems nicer. Not sure if I am really gonna need it tho.

Well both Clevo models (assuming you get the AUO or LG panel) will have a MUCH better screen.

It really depends on what you value more.

I really wish Dell would make sure their systems went out the door fully working. Wifi was completely useless until I updated the drivers.

As to the i7, not sure about that but I do notice it is slower to load the initial screen for COH2 even with an SSD than my daughter's 2 year old Sony with an nvidia 840 that has an i7 so perhaps there is some anecdotal evidence that it matters.

i5 6300hq is roughly equal to a stock clocked i5 2500k. Threading does help with the i7s, even with lower clocks but usually isn't the case with gaming. Perhaps it's coincidence or there is I/O lag with the dell that the sony does not have.

So I have seen. The main thing that is keeping me to the Dell is the warranty man. Being a college student I'm not sure if I can deal with the loooong waits and turn around times for a gaming laptop if a problem occurs.

Overall the build quality is a bit better on the Inpsiron, though I prefer the keyboard on the Clevo (it's more spacious, has better travel, and has a full size num pad, unlike the 3/4 num pad on the Inspiron).

Question to those with the 4k screen... Is it worth it? Does it make a difference on stuff not natively 4k? (youtube, pornhub)

I have the Amazon one, but found out I can get the 4k for only $150 more (through college) and am feel maybe it would make it more future proof... Plus I've never had anything more than 1080p and am curious how 4k is...

I'd probably just use the 4k for basic stuff and 1080p for gaming.

I'd really like the 4k but am genuinely not sure if it is something that should wait till next laptop...

If you have one how is your experience with it?

    Hi Swanmojo,

I guess it really depends of the use you are going to do. I am doing software development and I was working on a 1080p resolution. It was fine for many years. However, the 4k screen allows me have more easily the code and the browser at the same time on the screen. So for me, the 150$ is worth it.

Screen is easily replaceable FYI . Takes all of 2 minutes to pop off bezel and then 4 screws . Long cable to work with.

Uses the same connector as all the other 15 inchers out there. i had an old screen laying around to test and make sure it was the same.

If you decide to install Windows 7 you will have to inject the USB 3.0 drivers into Install.wim and boot.wim.

The new CPU removed EHCI support so there is absolutely no way to install Windows 7 otherwise.

I ordered that one because i had it in my last 15 incher and loved it.

You can find used ones on ebay for $75 ish.

Just make sure it is not compatible garbage but the actual part number.

    So many listings are misleading.

This. Whenever you order an LCD panel, make sure you confirm it to be the EXACT model #. The VAST majority of places will ship a "compatible" screen, though you may sometimes get the panel you want.

Always contact the sellers/vendors to confirm.

It indeed won't void the warranty, but the panel you install yourself won't be covered under their warranty. Also, if the panel itself is determined to be the cause of damage, that might cause an issue. But that really doesn't happen.

If you have this laptop, disable "MAXX AUDIO PRO" to get much better sound. It just causes tons of distortion, and forces your headphones into mono mode. You can find this setting on Dell Audio.

I'm going to be buying a gaming laptop for multimedia editing and I want to go for an IPS screen. I've pretty much narrowed down my options to this Dell, the Lenovo Y700 and perhaps an Acer Aspire V15 Nitro.

Since one of main considerations will be the display quality, can anyone who's used this Dell and the Lenovo Y700 let me know how both their screens compare? From what I've read here so far, the Dell's screen isn't the best IPS, but the Y700 is so new there's barely any reviews for that. If you can compare with the Acer too, that would be even better (though Acer is my lowest priority bc I've had bad experiences with their build quality).

If it helps, a review on this foum ( here) says that the Y700 display is "manufactured by LG Philips (LP156WF6-SPK1)". I'm a complete noob when it comes to display types (I've just learnt a bit in the past few weeks while researching what I should buy), so I have no idea how good this screen is and how it compares to the Dell's, which (according to the review here) "appears to be the BOE NV156FHM-N41 model".

Oh, and according to pretty much the only other review of the Y700 that I could find (on YouTube here), the screen of the Y700 is actually glossy but it's coated with an anti-glare plastic which washes out the colours. The reviewer manually removed the plastic using a hairdryer, and he says that the actual screen is fantastic.

I have just spoken to a dell rep
"The Inspiron 15 7000 can produce 93.4 percent on the sRGB color spectrum. That's better than the mainstream category average (84.3 percent) and both the MacBook Pro (86 percent) and the V15 Nitro (83.9 percent)"
when talking about the 4k model
    Can anyone confirm this?

Must be talking about the 4k model. The 1080p only does 70% sRGB according to the testing in this thread.

Also the MBP does 99% sRGB, no idea what the V15 does though.

*on edit* - the MBP pro also displays 88% of adobe RGB. Dunno where the dell guy got his info.
