Nothing secret, When I met at dell (main shop) in bengalore they said , they won't reduce or give any discount. Then thought to call once b4 finalizing, Just called toll-free number which is in the dell website. dell person himself offed all discounts. I think they would give everybody . In case if you want person name whom I had talk let me know , will provide his mob. number.

I think discount depends upon in which city you are taking delivery of your laptop.

 

why don't you call toll free number and check , perhaps you get more discounts.still if you need, will give his number

 

i called and spoke to the guy but he gave only 2k discount and nothing else..He also wasnt friendly..so may be tat guy u got was nice..u asked him discounts or he itself gave and r delivery charges included in the price??

Dell India sucks, and they are simply looting Indian customers.
I simply do not understand WHY such a HUGE difference in price as most of their laptops (either orders from USA or India) get assembled in China/Taiwan (I guess).

Just compare your laptop (with same model/specs) price with USA price. you will be surprised to see the difference.
And as spicysk83 spent 71K for a Studio 15 laptop, he could have get a Alienware 15 with that price from USA !!!

Hence if possible (again IF) try to get it from USA and avoid Dell India, else set your mind to give more for less.

See a sample configuration of Studio 15 in both countries and see the price difference. Todays approx conversion rate is $1 USD ~ Rs 45/- INR

1. Dell USA ($1099 == Rs 49,455/-)


2. Dell India (Rs 61,000/- == $1355)

 

i think price hike of dell products due to indian excise duty, am i write ???????

 

As the laptops gets assembled in China/Taiwan rather it should be cheaper in India due to less shipping cost as compared to USA (India is close to those countries).

And adding to your comment, Indian excise duty MUST NOT be so high that the price difference will be on Rs 12K for a product of Rs 60K !!! Come on ... They are simply LOOTING Indians. Note that above product prices were excluding tax, means its the cost from manufacturer.

It dpends on the need of the model i guess,as i tried for studio 15 ..buying in india was better..also in India if u bargain u can get better prices of abt 2k reduction and free upgrades also

 

I too called Dell personnel on their toll free number but they are quoting the same price as per their website & not giving any other discount whatsoever. The laptop config you ordered is 53k+ how come you got 2k discount.
Can you plz mail me the name & contact details of the sales person from whom you finalized your deal as I too planing to buy this lptp.

my brother in law is living in us b4 buying i had taked to him and checked the price so i foind that this 1557 is cheap in india in us we have to pay 100$ extra on that same config.

and a intt fact is that dell 1557 have four slot for ram means just 4 spending rs 4000 i can install 4gb ram extra so its cheap to us i i got all that facial rec. n all stuff i had not menshioned all that think extly i got 18%disscount. so is it bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my idea is try to get more free hardware up-gradation than software.
dell people try to offer more free software packages, most of them
are crape or you use them rarely.

 

if Your delivery delayed then only they would offer you hardware upgrade.

is it half pci card or something else?

Can we replace it with intel 5300?

dell 1520 wirelessN adapter on a laptop is in addition to 802.11 a/b/g... Your laptop will work just fine with older wireless access points.

The link is correct and its working fine, i guess you might have given wrong info . For me i've these many infos, Email address, customer code/buyer code, order number and quotation number and giving status, but sadly still says "Order released to manufacturing "
