5583 is the proper sku. 5589/5591 are the one which were originally being put on the systems. Yesterday, Im told, thks issue was fixed and all cancelled or present systems would have the led correctly applied.

Please take this from what its worth though....a laymen forum member who has been lucky enough to get some answers.

Whatever the case, the problem has been found and the systems will come out with the proper LED or LCD as it was ordered.

And no...Im in no way the cause. The systems were all getting sent back from the beginning of the month. They would go to the production table but the sku's were not proper. It just kept growing from there. If the proper sku isnt listed when the build starts...the order is simply cancelled and rejected.

People were all upset thinking Dell was cancelling the orders and not advising (I included) but, the truth is the software and computer programming would kick out and cancel the order... Notification was automated a few days later.

Good stuff - my order had the 5583 part number to begin with and I haven't run into cancellation issues, unlike some of the less fortunate, such as yourself.

I really appreciate what you've been doing for the community here flamenko. Much appreciated indeed. Perhaps Dell will be nice enough to jack that 50% off coupon to a 75% off one for your troubles/effort? ;)

I just realized that...remembered the coupon. Who am i to complain in any case??? One of my systems is a free replacement upgraded for this "screaming M1210" I am using now and the other was a result of a 1/2 off coupon to which they have already upped me a few options after the fact...

I would just like to see somene actually get a system anywhere in the world though. It then makes them real and within reach.

I just called Dell 2x this morning. The LED issue has not been fixed. My re-order was wrong again! I spoke to my rep and mentioned I ordered the LED screen w/camera numerous times; gave the part-number and verbally confirmed that she understood. This time around they gave me the LCD w/camera and also removed my fingerprint reader(?!). Note: my purchase price including my options had not changed.

I still don't think that they have their issues sorted out. The 2nd Rep though could not help me but he convinced me to wait 1-2 days while they put a note on their system.

Everyone in the similar situation should double check their order detail carefully.

    hmmmmmmmm...
I was told an August 3rd shipping date by a rep! This may actually be true if all the laptops leave for pickering on the 31st!

I just hope my laptop is in this shipment.

i have the same exact problem as you where i ordered the LED but have been given the LCD w/camera SKU (or the wrong/nonexistant one ... w/e =/) except i didnt get my fingerprint reader removed

how can you tell the difference between the LED and the regular? i know its about 1/10 inch thinner but what else? how would i be able to tell between which one i got? (if i do end up getting the wrong one with my system)

It will be on your invoice....thats the easiest way.

Lets try not to panic folks...all the calling the CSRs has been doing is creating more confusion than anything. They will do or say anything to get you off the phone.

Worse comes to worse and you get an LCD...simply call for a reorder and you get tp play with that one until your new one with the LED arrives.

I have been posting updates that, thusfar are bang on almost daily..

Im in the same boat as all...
