haha, thats pretty sweet for you..did you call in your order and let the sales rep "take a little off the top" for themselves? i ordered on the 16th and they are still compressing the silica to make my processor.

-
Yeah it is pretty sweet, i'm grateful!!!
I didn't call in my order, I ordered on Dell.com. -
no recovery disk??? wtf are we supposed to do if we need to do a full re-install... i mean i would not use everything they give you so i always do a full clean install and re-partition the drive any time i get a new system... but now how do we get all the drivers and such we will need to do this.. does dell expect you to send it back to them every time ??

My delicious addicts! We must all calm down and feast in the glory of our shipments. Have a donut. If you'd like have two donuts. Once we receive these wonderful little babies the world will be at ease.
Excellent. -

-
-
Ah it worked! Now you will go to bed, and not worry about your laptop. Mhm. Yes. Dream Sweetly.
-
-
Talking about RAM, will anybody replace their RAM when they get their Vostro?
-
I will. I plan on swapping out the 2x512 sticks for 2x1g crucials.
-
i cant get windows xp to install. i keeps telling me that thier is no harddrive
-
I have a question. I've tried to install other versions of OS' on laptops with widescreen displays before, and they always looked weird because they weren't made for widescreen and I didn't know how to change the display (there was no widescreen option). Let's say I went ahead and installed Windows Vista Ultimate, would it look weird too, or is there an option for widescreen?
-
if vista home can do it, ultimate surely can
-
Here's what I mean. I had another laptop that was a compaq. It had Windows XP. I had another version of Windows XP (a re-install disk for a gateway), and I installed it on the compaq. The compaq was widescreen and when I re-installed the new Windows XP, it looked weird, because it wasn't made for widescreen I guess? I'm wondering if that will happen with Vista too...
-
-
Noooooooo... oops! So that will fix it if the problem does occur?
-
I installed XP on my Inspiron 1501 and it looks great in 1280x800 once the drivers are installed. I'm running Vista Ultimate on my T60 with the WSXGA+ screen and it looks amazing. -
This might help:

so does the Vostro come with a recovery partition on the HD if they don't include the driver discs? If I have the recovery partition, do I still need to make an XP disc with SATA drivers on it or will the recovery do it's job?
One more ?- if I have an XP SP2 OS disc from Dell (my Dimension) that says 'For Distribution with a new Dell PC only" will it work on the Vostro since it's a Dell too? Or should I hassle CSR for disc? -
Hassle Dell for the discs. No reason they should not send them out.
-
-
I'm leaning more and more towards the Vostro over the inspiron.. Can anyone tell me how well the lid closes. I've heard the Inspiron's doesn't close full and is a little loose.. i'm hoping this isn't the case with the Vostro.

Has anyone posted their new pics of their Vostro laptop?
-
-
anyone with XP get their yet? any drivers/OS discs?
-
My partner is picking this up now (because she gets my old laptop), however, it means that I wont get to see it until tonight.
Quite annoying.
Note Im not expecting a huge amount of sympathy from the people who have ordered before me, but, not received their order yet... -
"This CD is not for reinstallation of programs or drivers" is written on the disc.

All i got was the reinstallation disc for xp home...I didnt get a driver disc or any disk for the media direct. its weird cause for my e1505 they came with all of it
-
There's no delay on the Vostro 1500 for the US right?
-
my 1500 with truelife,1.6ghz core 2 duo, 120 gb hard drive, wireless a/b/g, bluetooth, 1gb ram, Nvidia 8600GT and a 9 cell battery went right into production yesterday after I ordered it.
-
That's good to hear, I just ordered a 1500 with 1.6ghz, 120gb, 512mb, 8600GT and 9cell
-
that doesn't nessesarily mean much- see my sig... still building, even tho my bro-in-law ordered the same pc one day b4 mine- he got his today, build time seems to be random
-
Well I hope it's not delayed, I'm about to cancel my 1520 once the dell chat frees up...
-
Now if they could speed up the Inspiron that I ordered on 7/30, check out the sig. It will be replacing my Inspiron 4100, bought in 1992, which has run like new except for a faulty cdrw/dvd eject button causing me to go into winexplorer to eject it there, otherwise it just makes a noisy racket and doesn't open at all, but still plays dvd's and burns cd's. I plan on using the new laptop for video editing since I take a ton of pictures and video's with my Fuji S6000FD digital camera. BTW, this is my first post in what seems to be a great, no fantastic forum! Hello everyone!
Anyone got their vostro?
