finally in build stage, it only took them a week

 

Did it take a week from pre production stage?

 

MIne is still in pre-production. I ordered it on wed 12.15 a.m. Hoping that it will go to build stage in less than a week.

what is the fastest time that a vostro will go to the build stage?

 

So who will get it first?? (the date please)

yes, but you cant generalize and say it will be that way with all the vostros.

 

how do you guys check what stage it is in? online it doesnt say all of those stages.

search for the number to call its in tons of threads. then you enter your order # and it will tell you the exact stage. the online thing is basically useless.

My vostro went into build stage in less than 2 days. Let's party.

 

Mines scheduled to ship June 25th, but I have regular shipping so I won't get it till the first :/

 

Mine is scheduled to ship on the 31st and I have overnight....so right now its a race between me a methodis. Anyone have an earlier arrival date than the 1st?

 

you guys are lucky... i re-ordered mine (ordered 1500 first time on the day it was released, est. ship on the 26th)

my 1400 went into build 4 days after i ordered it...the wait is starting to killlllll me

 

jeeze no one thinks they will ship before the estimated dates?

I have a 1400 scheduled to ship on 8/2/2007, overnight shipping. I had an original order for a 1500 with a date of 7/30, cancelled and re-ordered a 1500 with Vista Premium, then cancelled that and decided to go with a 1400 and save the weight and get the better battery life. Never was able to get Premium put onto the 1400 order though...

 

+ a video if it is possible.

 

if my laptop goes into production quickly does that mean that it will ship earlier than the estd. ship date?...i ordered mine July 19th and was in production within a half an hour.

 

or an hour...anywhere in between...couldnt have been longer than that though.

i actually have the same schedule as you, i also ordered mine on the 19th and have an estimated shipping date of aug 9th

 

i called the automated status system this morning and they transfered me and put me on hold...first time that's ever happened to me

Wow you're dang lucky. I bought mine on the 11th and mine is still in build stage. My est ship time is 7 days from now. I guess we'll see.

 

It was probably in pre-production for a few days. If you just check the dell website, it'll just say in-production automatically as soon as your card clears, while it's really not physically being built yet. You have to call the number to get the stage it's in. That's why people are saying theirs is in the build stage/boxing stage/testing stage etc, although the website status check never shows those.

 

Yay my delivery date has been brought forward to 30th July (from August 9)

Thats it, im not going to check this website anymore. It just makes me depressed! Just under two weeks now and Im still just in production, not testing, not boxing...just production. Sad thing is this time last week they told me they were expediting my order, I hate to think how long it would take without this (made up word) expeditation.

Hooray, my 1400 moved into the testing stage. I wasn't able to get through on the phone all day until just now. Hopefully it will be boxing stage tomorrow.

Some guys at the local Dell kiosk said there was a massive wait on the M1330s but not really for the Vostros here ...

3 days??? It took that long just to get into "production" for me, and I've been in the "build" phase for at least a week. Glad to see SOMEONE'S getting some love, but what gives here? This is the most arbitrary delivery system I've ever seen!

 

It makes me worry actually. Expect a thread from me in a couple of days about how I received an early laptop with the screen and/or keyboard upside down

(assuming they don't ship an empty box)

 

as much as i want it NOW, id rather dell spend a little extra time and give me a decent well built laptop that wont come with broken stuff or crap out on me in a year because they forgot to assemble it right

(im assuming that they are spending extra time on quality control)

I ordered my vostro 1700 on 18/07/2007 and its still in pre-production. Why has noone else ordered a 1700? Im only reading about people having ordered a 1400/1500, you guys not like the 1700?

I upgraded to Next Day shipping, so saying it ships before 4 PM today, I should have it tommorow.

 

Methodis how did you upgrade your shipping?. coz mine is in boxing stage and the estd shipping is on 9th august. Should I need to call and upgrade the shipping?

 

Heh, mine is in boxing too. I think they need to ship all the notebooks via freight ship to Nashville first (if it's headed to the US). That's why it's going to take a while. It doesn't make much business sense to airmail it from Malaysia.

 

I just asked the Chat Service and they did it for me, but had to pay money.

I got a delay e-mail, saying my order will probably ship around August 1st, but I know it'll be sooner then that, and I was expecting the e-mail since I doubt they'd get through boxing in under 2 days and meet todays ESD, heh.

 

go chat with Dell customer service online, complain about long shipping date and they'll offer to upgrade the shipping to next business day for free.
my 1st vostro i called customer service to get a price match, he offered shipping upgrade for free
my 2nd vostro i chatted with customer service and complained my prelim shipping date was 7 days earlier than my expected shipping, he/she offered a free upgrade.

 

why the hell dell is not updating online order status?
