1520 Ruby Red Waiting Room

Same here. Im begining to think that my order has been lost...or deleted.

 

I've been given the runaround for an even longer time. I called to cancel the other day, and after spending time going through thier call tree found out that the call center was closed. Go figure.

hang in there kgriffis! i ordered on 7/19.........not even in boxing yet.....but i know it'll eventually get here, o admit it would be fantastic to actually have it BEFORE college starts though, but i just don't see it happening for me.

 

My original order date was 7/24, but a rep "accidentally" cancelled my order. I had it reinstated on 8/2, and they gave my order an "expedited" status. Most people say that doesn't do anything, but as you can see in my specs, mine shipped a couple weeks after that. It sucks for all you Ruby Reds who are still waiting. Dell's way of doing things is certifiably ass backwards, but the wait is definitely worth it. I know that it's frustrating as hell dealing with the CS sometimes, but the laptop is truly amazing. I was in the same shoes as you, cursing Dell, and finding myself wanting to take a trip overseas to kill someone, but now that I have the laptop in hand I would have been truly dissapointed had I cancelled. Keep up hope, and trust that you've made a great decision. Hang in there, and I'm sure you'll be very happy that you did. Good luck guys and girls, I'll be around for any questions.

 

Very INSPIRatiONal Buckeye! I just got my second delay. Called so it wouldnt get canceled. New EST Ship is now 8/31. (

 

I just got out of chat with CSR, my ESD is 8/23 but apparently the Ruby Red Lid is backordered per CSR. He couldn't provide a date when the lids were expected to come in or even tell me if my order would be delayed again. It's still "in production" I couldn't even get a production stage out of him. SO I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the dreaded delay email or call on the 23rd. Especially since I was asked for an alternate phone number where I could be reached during normal business hours. This bites. I leave for college 350 miles away on the 25th. Grrrrr.

But I'm still hanging in there, even though I need a laptop, and I could get one someplace else. I ordered THIS laptop because its the one I want.

 

kayos, did the phone status change to boxing for you? That will tell us if we are seeing some sort of recovery and are going to get our notebooks any time soon. Please let us know.

 

I was gonna say that I got my second delay yesterday.( Then my power went out and my screen on my window flew off.)

Anyways...My NEWER ship date is now 8/31. Also....Everyone make sure you email or call dell back if you get delayed a second time. Because if you dont, by law, they have to cancel your order.

I went from 8/13 to 8/20 to NOW 8/31. I skipped over the very common 8/28.

 

I am still waiting on my ruby red too.

 

Based on what I have seen on these boards. Add 19 days to your ORIGINAL est ship date and thats when yours will ship. So for me.....I guess I should expect another (*3rd) delay. I should have my laptop in my hands Sept 2.

About how long does it stay in "Boxing" stage? Does anyone know? My order date was 7/23, first ESD was 8/6 on my ruby red and 8/8 on the sunshine yellow one that was exactly like it. We ordered both on the same day, same time, and same account. I was pregnant and on bed rest so thought that it would be nice to have to keep me busy. Well, 8/6 came and went and on 8/8 they finally sent me an email and changed my ESD to 8/28 for both systems. The yellow one is my mom's and she got hers today. But hers was originally supposed to be shipped 2 days after mine Now the baby is born, I am off bed rest and hubby and I still have no laptop. I called last night and they are saying mine is finally in the "Boxing" stage. I am just curious about how long that stage lasts and if you think there is a chance I may actually get it soon??

Let's just say the way they are going you can get pregnant again and maybe have it before your next one comes along. By the way congratulations on the new born and let him/her have their way with the computer. I did with my son and he is soaring in the computer field.

 

Ok, so I was told they would receive "a shipment" on the 27th, so I'll likely be receiving it early september. I'm guessing the shipment consists of red covers. Hopefully this helps some others

ok, so i admit i still had a shred of hope left that i might actually get my order tomo until... when i call the automated number if i use my order number, it says in build, BUT if i use my customer number...........it says PRE-production.

If I use my customer number, the woman tells me that my orders have shipped on Jul 30, whereas only LoJack has shipped on Jul 30. Dell has some fixing to do with their own systems.

 

ya, its the stage right after they approve your payment method. lol. darn it! i just want what i paid for on the date i am supposed to get it on. its going to be such a pain in the butt to start the semester w/o it. my LoJack has been in pre-production ever since i ordered.

I just called and it says build stage, and no further information is available at this time. It is supposed to be shipping today.
i haven't gotten an email yet about another delay either.
you'd think dell would know if something was going to ship by the ESD and send out delay emails a few days in advance. thats what irritates me the most; the constant and consistent lack of communication.

 

I just got off the phone with CSR my new ESD is 9/5, the ruby red is what is causing the delay. I recieved a $75 credit for the delay, and an "expedited" status. Not that 'expedited' means much of anything in these cases.

 

Has anyone gotten a Ruby Red WSXGA+ screen so far? I have a feeling that there is not a single person who has got it. And it is not very comforting feeling...

All I can say is DANG I wish I saw this forum before I ordered! oh well.
8/17 order date-ESD 9/25 - I'm lucky though, I currently have an e1505 that I've upgraded as much as possible- T7200 in it, so I'm not frazzled by the wait. This e1505 has the WSXGA+ ? (1680x1050) display and I absolutely love it-hope the 1520 1680x1050 display is just as good.

Ordered a ruby red 1521 on July 28. It arrived August 23. It's very nice but it was originally to ship on Aug 15. I guess a week late isn't that bad.

The Matt Finish / Anti-glare screen is no longer an option for the 1520.

And Anyone with a Wirelss-N card will be delayed an extra 11 days.

 

OMG I can't believe it!!!! I just called and i'm in boxing!!!!!!!!!! Yaaayyyy. I am like totally ecstatic right now. I am scheduled to leave for college tomorrow, but I'm going to wait until the 28th, hopefully it will have been shipped and delivered by then. My previous ESD history is in my sig, they must have recieved some unscheduled ruby reds or something, seeing where as my latest was in september. Now, hopefully I won't be stuck in the boxing circle for who knows how many weeks.!! There may be hope for us all yet!!

 

The lady on the phone status is telling me that they are not able to locate this order. Does anyone know what that really means?

Actually ordered the 1520 because I tried running DiRT on my e1505 with an Intel T7200/2GB RAM/ ATI X1400 256 shared/WSXGA 1680x1050,and it ain't happenin

If anyone that has received the 1520 and runs games on it, can you please list some? dx10 games would be cool too-

Hey everyone - This is my first post, but I've been reading for a while and am thankful for all the information you share.
I ordered my laptop (in ruby red!) on July 23.
1st ESD - August 6
2nd ESD - August 14
3rd ESD- August 21
4th ESD - August 31
I have been in the build stage for a looong time. This morning I called to check and was still in the build stage. I called this afternoon and it was in kitting. This is before build? When I called again, I was back in build and now I am in testing. I'm crossing my fingers that I will actually get it this time.
