I think build stage is a part of production stage.

Well, looking at these posts has made me realize that I am not the only one with problems. Just got off the phone with dell. My system has been in the boxing stage for more than 2 days! After talking with and extremely fast talking rep, he explained to me that "one part" was missing from my order. Of course when I asked him he didn't have the information on what part it was.. He assured me that he would have someone call me when they find out what the part is. I also emailed them telling them to tell me what this "one part" is. I hope that it isn't out of stock. He also assured me that my system was built, so I am guessing that it is a power cord or perhaps even packing peanuts?!?!?!?!

Yep. It's probably the best screen for gaming. Less pixels to fill means less work for the GPU and setting higher res LCD's to lower settings makes it look like s### and no one likes laggy games.

My config took 4.5 days (called on Fri Morning and it went to boxing late Sunday) to go from order to boxing. I'm hoping it shows up tomorrow, but it looks like Thursday is more likely.

If you call the phone number that has automated order status it will tell you exactly where your order is on the production line.

Just remember the boxing stage includes the shipment of the laptop from overseas to the TN place where it will actually be put in a box with all the other stuff.

Hey everyone. This is my first post on the forum.

Just thought I'd give you guys some hope (or dash your hopes and dreams for others)

I ordered a pretty basic Jet Black 1521 around 1:40p CST today and received my Acknowledged and Confirmed e-mails almost immediately. 9 hours later, I just called the 1-800 number and found out my laptop is in the boxing stage.

Edit: I failed to mention I got free Next Day Shipping with my EPP discount. Perhaps that expedited my order?

    Here's my specs...
    Dell Inspiron 1521
    Jet Black
    1GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm
High Resolution, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch display (1440x900)
    ATI RADEON Xpress1270 HyperMemory
    80G 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
    Vista Home Premium
    8X DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Drive
Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Mini Card
    6-cell battery

I think the orders status change happen during midnight since there is a time change between us and the dell factory in Malaysia. As of now, for me it is 10:30AM PST and in Malaysia it is 1:30AM.

Seems like the black lids are moving along. Anyways, does anyone have any knowledge on extended warranties? I bought my laptop with only 1 year warranty and want to upgrade to 3/4year complete care warranty. How much am I looking at and does anyone have any similar experiences? Thanks!

I wonder who will get theirs first, you or me taso89, the specs looks identical, and I picked black to get it faster, too...

Correct me if this observation is wrong but I find that this is the lethal combination:

    -Jet Black
    -T7300 2.0 Ghz
    -1440x900 glossy screen

Mostly because of the screen. Seems like anyone with a diff. screen but the same other components already had theirs shipped.

Taso, I think you're right. Everyone else seems to be getting theirs, and mine says it's still in pre-production on the phone. It's insane, really, if they just told me this, I'd change the screen. I hate how dell's treating all of us. I talked to a guy today and he told me that it's the glass, I talked to a guy last night, and he told me it's the 6 cell battery (held up for a battery?!). I can't get a straight answer, but they all tell me the phone's wrong, I'm in build. Not even sure I believe that.
