nice pics and i actually like the black/silver better now..thing i really like about the black lid is that the bottom is the same color.. i kinda think having a blue or white lid with the silver interior then the black bottom is to much of a mix for me the more i sat and thought about it

i am crossing my fingers for yall -
yeah me too lol, i NEED MINE.. for business use i am getting tired of using a pan and paper ... i have stolen one of the wood shop computers for the meantime.. but its slower than dirt its old and its only purpose is to print cuts of wood for my guys to cut for boxes etc... so it doesnt matter really what it is.. i send em to the back and its there to print basically and they can store designs on it nothing more.. i want my laptop.... arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
what was your esd??? i ordered 3 days after you and it says sept 7th right now -
my ESD was 9/5...shipped on the 25th. you should get urs pretty soon
-
-
I ordered a day before Mordeth and I'm still stuck in the build stage. I understand Dell has some systems delayed, but I'm pretty peeved that and almost identical setup is going to at least a week longer from about the same order time.
I am glad you got yours Mordeth and that you are happy with it -

Yup, I am in the same exact boat as you TailDrag. Only difference is our configuration for the lappys are a bit different. But as for the ESD and Ordered date... It's all the same.

I've decided to change my screen to 1440. I'm hoping I can still change up my order even if its on the boxing stage......
-
why the change?
-
-
ah right
anyone know how long it usually takes to get out of the pre-production phase? -
it depends. I think theres a high demand on 1440 res. screens right now. With my specs, I was never even in pre-production. It went from building to testing to boxing within one day.
-
so preproduction is basically the gathering of the parts?
-
exactly...
-
ROFLOL... ok, i ordered my Vostro at like 9:10pm this evening.... i just called for giggles and checked on both orders... 1520 in build stage. Vostro 1500.... in TESTING! so if all goes right with my next day shipping i should have it by fri/sat. Forget about your 1520's... get the 1500... i paid about $25 less for it too.
-
with the 325 off coupon the inspirons are still cheaper no questions
-
-
according to computer lady, my order is "preparing to be shipped"
-
I'm going to call in a minute, then I don't even care anymore. I guess I'll get it when I get it.
-
the website says delayed. automated phone number and a CSR (confirmed twice) says shipping
-
Okay, so the delays are mainly for the 1440 res. screens, as they are the most popular. I placed an order on the 26th of August with a screen res. of 1680 and by the night of 8/27, it was already on the boxing stage. This morning I decided to call and change the res. to 1440 (for gaming purposes) and it bumped up the esd. to 9/21! Buuuuuut, they have me a $100 credit and free next day shipping so its cool Anyway, if you guys want your comp. quick, dont go for the 1440 res. screens...
-
i think i'm the last of the 1280x800 anti-glare jet black
-
-
Now Dell CSR is claiming there is a delay on the CPU... How nice...
-

256MB GeForce 8600M
160GB HD
8x DVD-RW
2.0M webcam

Ordered - 27/08
ESD- 21/09 -
probably a lie... considering i ordered my Vostro with that CPU and im in boxing 18hrs (probably 12, but i was asleep) after placing the order. -
how can i chat with dell? it wont let me.. its says "please send a email or try again" so i pick on try again.. and starts like the beginning...
anyway.. my lap is taking to long. Look at my sig. i´ve been in production for a week =(... need to chat NOW -
order 8/8 and shiped 8/29
but to answer your question, just keep clicking on try again -
ok.... thx
-

Both my laptop and printer is still in production after 9 days since I purchased it. Funny though since my printer is supposed to ship tomorrow (30th) and it's still in build. My laptop is supposed to ship September 4th, which is 6 days from now. Hopefully everything is on schedule.
-
yea same me, hope it´ll get sooner like mordeth. We just got to be patience..... but not for too long =P
-
i just called in for the first time to check my order status (actually i was really calling to get compensation for the 1 week delay) and they said mine will ship either on friday or in 4 days FOR SURE. the lady i talked to was really nice and checked my profile and offered an extra one year warranty over my original warranty (which was for 1 year) so i'm happy for now. all i have to do now is wait and see if there are any problems with the laptop.
-
Just chatted again, and was told there is no delayed on my account, which means, they must have gotten some 1440's in
-
so i found out that you can get your service tag off your emailed invoice. so i entered my service tag into "my system & periphels" on dells website. then i went about to check OEM configuration. it says i have the LG/Phillips WXGA. is that the good one?
-
how do you do that??? id love to know??? im looking at my invoice and no where do i see the service tag???
-
-
o man that would be so awesome.. we would know ahead of time and could continue to cancel till we get the screen we want.. wow that would be so awesome...but it wouldnt work if its when it ships..well i guess we could refuse shipment
-
LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 15.4WXGA, VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC., LGP
i'd assume that LGP = LG/Phillips -
so dell gave me 2nd day shipping. DHL EDD is friday 8/31 (2 days). but right now, my notebook is in ohio. the airport that it's at is only 13 hours from my house. what are the possibilties that it could come tomorrow by 5pm?
it's 12:45am right now in MN -

more and more it seems like people who are are getting the 1520 with 1440 res. are getting horribly grainy screens. Its almost to the point where I'm thinking of changing my order AGAIN from 1440 res. back to 1680, as the grainy issue doesn't seem to be a problem for the 1680. I just really want the 1440 for gaming purposes, so I can stay with the native. Hopefully, by the time mine ships out, 9/15/, they will have fixed the problem.
-
Yay, mine upgraded to Shipped a little while ago. Do you guys know how long it took before it actually made it to a carrier and the tracking number was updated. I was upgraded to next business day shipping and am hoping it will be here tomorrow. I have to go out of town for the next 4 days with work and was hoping to bring it with me.
-
1) According to dell, it's "near instant" update or "a few hours" depending on who I talked to.
2) They upgraded your shipping? for free? when I asked, as I have a similar problem<school starts on the 1st for me, and i'll be in crazy meetings all day> they said that there was nothing they could do, and that I would have to pay the shipping costs if I wanted to upgrade to next day
3) Our machines are very similar, the only difference is I got the stock lcd, and a webcam, and the amd processor. Is it the webcam that's delaying mine, which was ordered on 08/12? -
As far as the delay on your system, I'm not sure. I would imagine its the screen/webcam since the 1521's are less popular than the 1520. -
the black matte is kind of a finger print magnet
-
just got mine at 3:30pm
-
(sarcasm) -
-
i have the 1280x800 anti-glare and i can't see any grainy problems
