hey mordeth did you get your tracking number??? I just got mine! It shows Carrier: DHL EXPRESS GROUND on Dell order status page...but Service: Ground on dhl tracking page

 

Hope mine has shipeed. How did you guys find out? Were you sent an email or did you call the 1-800 number? When I tried the number I got nothing but music

After changing around the specs for like 5 hours.....I finally ordered my Jet Black Dell 1520 ......Here are the specs:

did you use the $325 coupon? thats is kind of high for those specs...maybe its because of the screen...

yea, thats with the 325 coupon. The screen and graphics card were the most expensive. Also, tax is about 120 buxx

yea....the $325 off plus free shipping was too tempting to pass up. Everyone is saying that these 1520's are great...... I'll be content as long as its better than the Inspiron 8500's!!! (worse system ever owned....however, it was like almost 5 years ago)

Just called in to the voice status line and I am now in testing? Woo hoo! Guess thats good for a 9-13 ESD!!! ESD does remain at 9-13 tho! Can't get it all updated or the system is messed up! I called back again to make sure I didn't screw up the order number and it is in testing!

 

wow...estimate delivery date - 8/29. Not even "Next Business Day". Dell lied

 

I got the exact same configuration, ram purchased seperatley for:

$1111.94 + $70

I didn't get the extended warranty because I felt it was a waste and I only plan on keeping it for 2-3 years.

P.S. Theft protection is a waste. If they sent me a new laptop I'd get it. well then I guess my laptop would get "stolen" a lot.

Received mine today! and guess what? Everything was fancy EXCEPT the screen. Grainy as hell and there's light bleeding at the bottom. Cheap AUO display!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ordered 8/18 and havent even moved out of build yet.... though i have gotten a free next day shipping upgrade already and be reassured a hundred times by dell csr's it will ship before the ship date (yeah, right) of the 31st. Obviously if it isn't in boxing by tonight... that ain't gonna happen.

I'm guessing you got the 1440 resolution one then? I'm hearing more and more that all people buying a 1520 need to STAY AWAY from the 1440 resolution and get 1280 or 1680.........

 

Yea....I'll pay the 170 and get the 2 year warranty. I personally dont pay over a thousand dollars for something and plan to only use it for a few years.....ain't THAT rich. And even if you do only plan to use it for only 2 or 3 years....getting the warranty is worth it.....cause if your laptop breaks and is beyond repair, they send you a new model. Happened to me.

As for the ram, I was thinking of buying it separately, but I decided that I don't wanna be opening up my computer any time soon....

 

I cancelled the Jet Black system I ordered on 8/7 as a backup in case my blue system didn't ship. I got an email that the black computer would be delayed to the end of the month. The blue one is supposed to ship tomorrow, however it is still in the Bilge stage. If I get another delay I'll cancel it too. I have to get something shipped soon as my old i8100 is dying.

Mine is still in the build stage . At least in the learn more part it says that a Dell team is gathering the parts and gonna stick w/ it blah blah blah instead of just the estimated ship date Hopefully it will be out of build in the next couple of days.

 

So weird. Ordered last night, 8/26......as of tonight, 8/27, its in the "boxing" stage. Guess i can't complain though, just wasn't expecting it to be this fast....

can anyone give me some reasoning on why this is? Most everyone on here wait at LEAST a week for it to ship. This took one day to build! The specs for my comp is one or two pages back. Its got me a bit worried.....I'm hoping they're not just using a canceled order or something.....

I'm still in awe about the price you payed. I got no bluetooth or webcam or dvdrw or case or 7200 rpm drive and mine is 1493. Now I feel like I got ripped....

 

i got the 6 cell and 9 cell battery, intel n card, bluetooth, webcam, 160gb drive.. not sure if you did as well.. how i got the price...... long story i sent back 3 vostro's for bad screens.. it went to escalations.. i spoke with 2 different people and was given a 300$ credit once it ships plus the 325 coupon.. plus he is crediting me for the difference in price of the screen from wxga to wsxga..im still condifering changing to blue though.. so i may add to my delay and frustrate myself i just cant decide..i got the in home warranty and the 3 year i think added as well..

yeah it was a "take it or leave it" deal.. i had to decide on the spot right there so i didnt get a chance to check color delays he said the black and white are in stock so pick one of those 2 and it will ship the rest are very delayed.. i didnt want to wait the near 2 months he was talking about.. so i just choose black im not sure ill be happy though since i really wanted something different this time..
