Thinking about getting this for work. There is no Core I5 or I7 version is there?
Also the SSD needs to be 1.8" right? -

No idea what Adamo normally cost in UK, but in the US, it can be had new for $899 + tax and shipping (so around $1000 total). Figure it out based on that. As far as hard drives go, don't worry too much about it. All Adamo's come with an SSD, which will beat the pants off a regular hard drive. Mine came with TRIM enabled firmware already installed, but if yours doesn't you can download it and install it yourself.
-
Yes, this is a good deal as you are getting the faster SL9600 CPU and the larger 4GB RAM
-
Ordered just now with 10% Discover card cash back, can anyone recommend their choice of carrying bag/case?
Thanks. -
Would you be able to give me some links to US sites selling the adamo for that price? I tried to have a look around but couldnt find anything -

Is it Pearl or Onyx?
PICOW -
Can't any prior owners help me with the correct carrying case?
-
Its about half the price of the laptop over here.
I might have to find someone in the US willing to take delivery and send it here. -
I will order it anyway. I have an Adamo but I will easily sell it for the price of thr new one. The only thing that bothers me it the color - silver.
PICOW -
i can only see the admire version, not the desire quoted above...
-
Nice. IBM/Lenovo x61s heatsink/fan died today, ordered the part ($65 shipped) after taking the entire laptop apart because my delivery date on Adamo was Dec. 30th, now received shipped/delivery date Dec 10th. It will probably beat the part by 15 minutes.
Going to the Apple store to see what it will fit into after it arrives. -
You mean it will be delivered 20 days ahead of the date in the cart??
-
hi there,
This might seem a bit random, but can someone tell me the size of the box dell ship the adamo in (as in the absolute outer box)?
Im trying to get it shipped from USA to UK and need dims and weight.
Cheers -
My Adamo Pearl Box was
13.5 x 45.5 x 51 cm
4.6 Kg -

In terms of performance would this be an upgrade for my Dell M1330, or would it be more or less the same?

Well, I'm returning the refurb Onyx Adamo and have purchased the new Pearl Adamo...50% fast cpu clock, same 4GB ram, SSD with firmware already updated (presumably) and Win7 HP 64bit already installed...all for $100+ less than the refurb. I'll be even if they charge the restock fee, but even then its worth it! Pays to watch the forums...
-
Just ordered the laptop. 875 shipped with tax. Too bad it's silver .
Delivery date says 12/16/2010. Hope it's a valid date.
BIG thanks to the poster of the coupon!!!!
Can anyone confirm that the ordered Adamo is really with 4 GB of RAM and 2.1 GHZ CPU?!
Kind regards,
PICOW -
verified 2.16 4gb ram and samsung ssd pm800 trim enabled
Nice machine, the incase nylon sling sleeve for macbook pro 15 fits well $60 fair trade -
I think the processor data is wrong (SL9600 should be with 6 MB cache and 1066 bus) and I suspect DDR3 is not 800 mhz but 1066.
Anyway, great news, watchtower7! Thank you.
PICOW -
6mb 1066 and memory is 1066

It has a T7500 chip 2.2 Ghz, 4GB of Memory, Nvidia Geoforce 8400M GS , Toshiba 250 GB hard drive.
So the Adamo looks lighter. But will i have a better computer in terms of processing power and how will the display match up? -
Major upgrade on the hard drive
Major downgrade on video card
About the same on everything else. -
The Adamo I was looking at had an integrated 256 (MB) Intel® GS45 Graphics Media Accelerator. Are you sure the 128 MB Nvidia Geoforce 8400M GS is so much better?
Also, wHat about the screen display quality to watch netflix movies? Is it at least as good as the M1330? -
Nvidia GeForce 8400M is a separate dedicated graphics processing unit. It has 256 GB of dedicated onboard memory. You can play non graphics intensive 3D games on this. I had no problems running Medieval 2 Total War, TorchLight and a few others.
Intel GS45 is the built in crappy intel graphics adapter present in all Core 2 Duo chipsets by default. It's memory is not dedicated, just a shared chunk of the main RAM. You will not be able to play ANY 3D games at all on this.
I had an older M1330 - 1.5 Ghz CPU with an 8400M then got an Adamo XPS about a year ago. The screen quality is comparable. Neither one is amazing - both have a 1366 x 768. I loved the M1330 but 8400M video card kept overheating and I kept having to send it in for sercvice.
Having said that, the Adamo feels MUCH snappier due to the SSD. Applications come up faster, Windows boots faster, etc. And of course Adamo looks great as well. -
Well, great.
I ordered, paid, delivery was scheduled 12/16/2010. AS of today, no status update. Order stil processing. Deja vu all over again

Dellienware Workstations & Ultrabooks
Hi guys, i just ordered mine with the basic specs.
is 2gb ram really enough though?? i mean the 1.4ghz cpu wont be able to do much anyways in terms of multitasking,
but what are your experiences with just 2gb ram?? please tell me your experiences!
Thanks! -
as a general rule, i like to have more memory the weaker the processor, so i would not be a fan of your purchase
-
Got the non-refurbed Adamo Pearl the other day...much better than the refurb, snappier processor, everything really...great price too, paid $130 less for it than the refurb w/o Win7, updated SSD firmware, and much faster CPU. Question - how do you disable keyboard backlighting on this thing...I can lower it all the way down, but I want to just disable. Didn't see anything in the BIOS. Thanks!
-
Just ordered the SL9600 4GB 128gb Pearl Adamo. Should arrive by wednesday

My new Adamo arrives tomorrow .
I have to think what to do with my old Onyx. I love these machines! -
my adamo came a few days ago. the sl9600 version runs things pretty smoothly. the fan only goes on when im streaming multiple videos. it never lags doing any browsing. i connected a external monitor and everything is running great.
-
Got my Pearl. I like my Onyx much more .
I am thinking of changing the motherboard from Pearl to Onyx .
One thing though.
I ran CrystalDiskInfo and it says 91% healthy. If I do the same with my 1 year old Onyx, it says 97 % healty. ?
The new computer says Power on hours: 27. Em?
Any comments on this?
One more thing: I found the teardown guide for Adamo. Is it possible to just remove the whole motherboard and screw it into another case? I dont want to remove all the cards, SSD, cable etc. just to switch the inside of the laptop. Any experience?
Edit: Yeeeeez..the Pearl has MUCH more keyboard flex than my Onyx. ?
Cheers,

Another thing.
Which WWAN module do I need to search on ebay for Adamo? -
Just took delivery to my adamo and I already have a few issues and It'd be great if someone could help me out. First, the fn control for the display brightness does not work. The other fn commands like wireless work, but not brightness display. Next, the fan stays on the entire time and has never shut off! Lastly, unless I mute the volume, any keystroke results in a beep which gets really annoying when I'm typing. All help would be appreciated. I reinstalled the latest bios but that did not solve any of my problems.
