I ordered mine on Feb 15th, 1.4GHz 2GB and 128GB SSD. Standard shipping. Order satus shows delivery march 15th, but not shipped. They upgraded me to next day shipping because of the delay. Today is Friday, and if it is not shipped, how can it be delivered on the Monday the 15th?

    Hmmm, I don't think this SKU exists: 1.4ghz 2gb 256gb

I'm telling you, you won't get it. They will ship it with 128GB if at all. I had another Adamo, a business laptop, ordered for me with: 1.4ghz 4gb 128gb and it came with 2GB. Dell fought me on the 4GB thing to no avail. I was very displeased with them, but ended up keeping the machine. I may try to get them to replace the MB. I hear other people may have had similar results and issues. Check here:

That may be it. I did order the Desire model (2.1Ghz/4GB)... Anybody else?

All, please keep telling me how much you all love this laptop because honestly, I think about cancelling this order daily...

I'm on the brink of calling shenanigans...

Just called Dell, new estimate date is updated to 3/22/2010. Still on the phone, there will be a lot of bad words...
Edit: Ended the call with Dell. The rep and his manager, kept on repeating "at this point, the power cord is on back order, but there could be other parts that are on back order which we do not know about." There is nothing that can be done, I asked. They said no. Is there anyone in Dell, the entire company, that can provide a definitive answer to when is this going to ship? - No, noone knows.

This is not true. I ordered my Desire at the beginning of Feb and it came with TRIM enabled firmware. Others have reported this as well.

    Hi all~

Recently, I'm looking for a laptop. At first, Dell Vostro V13 attracted me, the only thing not satisfy me is that it only got a vga out, not hdmi...

After that, I found Adamo, with price only $999!! and even can down to 899 by EPP (I'm not sure if it is applicable for all customer) and maybe 849 with $50 coupon.

Adamo is really my dream notebook... But the sad things is, I'm from Hong Kong. And Dell HK don't sell adamo here. I contacted Dell US customer service and they said they won't ship it out of U.S.

Any ways for me to buy Adamo??

    Please advise. Thanks a lot!

From a previous post I see that you ordered 2/16/2010 - is this right? I ordered 2/15/2010, and mine shows not shipped with delivery date 3/22/2010. Come tomorrow, I am going to call Dell, and you will help me a lot if you PM your order number, just to have levarage when I raise Hell. BTW, did you order thru EPP?

Just FYI, if your tracking number is not yet available....sometimes if you log into your Dell account, and go to your order page, just click on the invoice link and if the invoice has been created....then the tracking number will be somewhere in the top right corner.

I just received my Adamo XPS today. Now this is a computer I would never think of getting, but at US$800 for the entire package (including external DVDRW), I sort of found it hard to pass up. Especially since the thing is effectively brand new, with not a scratch or speck on it.

I was getting quite tired of my Latitude 2100 netbook, since the slower atom processor was killing me (it was my first trial at a netbook and I guess I didn't like it). Sold off my netbook for about the same price I bought it at, and paid a few extra hundred to buy this Adamo XPS. Now this is sort of my new netbook to compliment my Precision M2400. Completely different leagues I know, but how I see it is they have the same number of ports so its about the same (actually the Latitude 2100 beats it out on ports).

Now my question is, where can I find another power supply and battery for this machine, without having to go through Dell? The Adamo XPS seems to have a square pinned connector for the power supply, whereas the Adamo 13 has a circular pin. I can't seem to find any info about purchasing a power adapter for this machine. Even typing "PA-10M10" / "G095T" / "da45nm103-00" (which is the family / dell product number / model for the adapter respectively, as found on my current adapter) into google comes up with nothing. I've contacted my Dell rep at work (I'm a sysadmin at a software company), but I can be assured they are going to charge me through the roof for it. Similarly, I'm trying to find additional 20Whr and 40Whr batteries for this machine, but no luck. Sad thing is that I have quite literally 15-20 power adapters for Dell's around my house, ranging from the d-series latitudes and docks to the e-series latitides and docks. They all use circular connectors.

I know that if I want these parts I need to import them in. Where I am from (New Zealand), the Asia Pacific Dell doesn't even allow you to buy 40Whr batteries or external hard drives with a brand new Adamo XPS order. It all comes prepackaged in one lot, with no choices. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Oh by the way, the Adamo XPS is still for sale in Asia Pacific region. I even received a flyer in the newspaper today advertising it for sale.

I don't think a spare battery exists because the battery is theoretically not user replaceable. However, I have seen instances where people buy the bottom plate on ebay and it comes with the lipo battery. While changing the bottom plate is not difficult, it is not something you can do very fast or would want to do all the time anyways. Have you tried ebay for the charger?

The previous poster is talking about an Adamo XPS rather than the Adamo 13 which does not have a user-removable battery.

I would enter the service code into the support.dell.com website which usually lets you buy parts and accessories as the best way to shop specifically for a model.

Sadly, Dell Asia-Pacific don't work that way. The AsiaPac arm relies on you contacting a person to arrange discovery, purchase and payment of items. We have no way to purchase parts through the web. I did try what you mentioned, by my service tag isn't recognized by the American system. Was just wondering if anyone knew maybe a third party reseller for power adapters (not batteries though, since I've heard bad stories about 3rd party batteries), or had any information with regard to the square power adapter plug.

In my region, when a Dell cancelled or returned order are made, the resultant orders are posted up on an auction, which is little known to most people. Auction starts at $9, and where it goes from there, is anyone's guess. Figure I got lucky this time.

Does make for some cunning plans though. E.g. order a Top notch Dell machine configured as you want. Return the order to get your money back (*), and watch the auction and let the market decide its value. I know for a fact this is the case because at my work we are a Dell shop (**). We've returned many a computer, and lo-and-behold I see them on the website with the same service tag we recorded for them.

(*) minus the value of shipping back to the depot which is like $10.
(**) Of course, I don't condone such dishonest and unethical behaviour! ;). Personally I've never done it, mainly because usually I can get better deals through our Dell account manager at work. Since we buy in volume from Dell, we get benefits. Plus it helps when you're also the main Dell contact, e.g. when the E-series and M-series latitudes came out, the contact offered my work 50% off the first purchase of either these machines. Since my work doesn't use the M Precision range, I took up the offer personally. Thats how I got my M2400. Boy, sounds like I'm tooting my own horn. Sorry.

On a side note, I bought the Mandarina Duck sleeve for the Adamo from Dell after reading older posts on here. Ironically, I had ordered a cheap ($3 total - shipped) sleeve for my netbook from meritline about 2 weeks ago. They arrived 1 day apart and almost identical. They look EXACTLY the same and use the same inside padding and outside mesh. The only difference is the Mandarina Duck stitching and the leather zipper ties.

Long story short, it's not a bad case... but it's not worth $50 either. Save your money and just get a cheap one. Or atleast look at some of the companies that make sleeves for the MBR or MBP 13, I've seen some ones that look way better and are cheaper too.

Got my Adamo today! So far so good! It came with a Samsung SSD. With what software can I check the speed and if the thing is TRIM-enabled?

Crystal Disk Info will tell you if your drive supports TRIM. Crystal Disk Mark will speed test it for you. They're both free, check'em out. Let me know how yours does. The identical case I bought for my netbook isn't made in a size that would fit the Adamo unfortunately. Meritline has a bunch of cheap sleeves that would fit, you'll just have to look around. I wonder how the TUMI sleeve on Dell's site is? Looks alright but too expensive for me.

I'm sure they'll upgrade the processor, but I don't think it will be for a few months atleast. I really doubt it will ever get a graphics card that is substantially better, but that's just my opinion.

Side note- I've noticed they have removed the Adamo from the outlet. It's not completely gone... but they've removed from all lists. You can still find a few if you view all the laptops available and then sort by name.

Yea make sure you use crystaldiskinfo because the TRIM command is enabled on Windows 7 by default. Meaning that even another computer without an ssd will show that TRIM is enabled-- it just means the commands are being sent. Even if the drive is TRIM capable and the commands are being sent, I have no idea to tell on an Adamo if TRIM is actually being utilized or not.

A clean install of Windows 7 did not help, drive is still TRIM disabled. Drive is PB22-JS3 TM 128GB. Who reported on this forum that this drive is TRIM enabled. The good news is it is really fast.

Hmm no idea. Definitely worth researching though. I still want to know if there's a way to find out if the TRIM commands are actually being used. I've read other posts that things like the controller can prevent TRIM from being used, even if Windows 7 is sending the commands and your drive supports it.

I am going to be returning this laptop. Without TRIM, performance will be degrading over time... If someone knows of a workaround solution... post it here.

I got mine yesterday. 256GB Samsung SSD. Crystal Disk Info reports that TRIM is enabled.

It will be probably just a little bit faster - though not sure if there is i7 ULV (i know there is i3), but battery life will be better and video will be better.
