It looks to be a great looking notebook IMO.

It's a shame I'm in the market for a tablet pc.

Maybe the cpu might use one of Intel's new ones that slot are in between Atom and Core 2?

Is it possible that this notebook has a dedicated GPU?
Maybe they will use a low-end Ati graphics card (HD 4000 series) since it runs cooler than nVidia GPUs.

I'm really hoping it will. The best would be if it had integrated and a dedicated, with switching similar to the Vaio Z.

In other news, does the fact that this thing won't have a user replaceable battery deter anyone's desire to get their hands on it? That sort of jarred me, though I figure the more knowledgeable will still be able to change by themselves, though with a bit more effort than one would apply with most laptops.

And what can we expect in terms of battery life? More or less than Sony Z?

I would imagine it would have to some pretty amazing battery life considering that the battery won't be modular the way most laptop batteries are.

Hi there just so you know, There are going to be two versions of the Dell Adamo.

One at £1565 and the other at £2251 in the UK

Here is evidence.. (Screenshots of Currys Till system)

Because Currys has two different Adamo items on its stock system is by no means an indication of different versions of the Adamo or any other item for that matter, I suspect this will simply be different configurations of the machine :D.

From my experience the computers on offer at everyday consumer orientated retailers such as Currys, Comet etc. Is limited to say the least...

Would be nice if there was say a 15 or so inch model though similar to the Macbook Pro, guess Dell is aiming the Studio XPS 16 at this unfortunately.

I just hope it doesn't have netbook specs is all. I mean I'm sure (hoping) it won't given that it looks to be a premium ultra portable but I've been dissapointed in the past.

But it's just so thin. I can't fathom how they are going to pack it all in, keep the heat down and give it decent battery life. It really will be a technological feat if they do all that.

The prices seem ridiculously high, especially for the second model. That is, unless the pound is suffering far more than I think it is. Dell's big thing has always been price, so I would imagine they're going for that with a more premium product this time around.

Also, I can't imagine it's going to have netbook specs. Dual core, 7200 rpm hard drive, at least Intel's highest end integrated graphics, and 4 gb memory is what I expect at the absolute minimum.

    Hi all,

well, it seems to me that Dell is trying to get its place in the i buy it cause i like it market, beautiful pcs where you pay that extra on design.
They did not have any similar so its good if they can offer that too, thats my opinion.
With adamo and the new studio xps's systems we can see the new keyboards they are going to be sporting i suppose, and most important, finally they are paying good designers, or either they are listening to the ones they have, cause dell lack a bit on that field, personal opinion as well.
I suppose, SSD disks, and top of cpu and graphics in terms of heat and noise reduction + battery life. And probably a good LED display, just the glossy screen that i am not fancy of, but i have to admit that the model in black it really is gorgeous.

Lets wait for the prices to drop down in crisis time, maybe thats why they are not releasing it yet, they would like first buyers to pay for the news, just a thought.
Obviously is always better to wait for somebody to try out and get a reviewed version of the system, theres always somebody that can not wait.., the question is.., could you?

I am waiting..very patiently, just like I did with all my lappy, and netbook! ;)

We don't have an exact on the pricing, so I am going to wish and hope that some approachable pricing is released on it! :D

With todays economy, I would hope that the pricing isn't too high!

Don't expect the Adamo to have a powerful processor. Just look at its competitors: Voodoo and MBA. Most likely it will have a SU (small form factor, ultra low power processor) and if you're lucky, the option for the faster SL (low power).

Already pushed back my decision to get a new machine by a few months...and all this adamo talk is still speculation...don't think I'd be able to wait much when they are out and IF I like them...

Just hoping for a decent processor, good heat management and very light weight...when you think about it I'm not really asking for much am I?...plus I'm already sold on the what I have seen so far (which ain't much).

    Greedy Prospective Adamo buyer.

    -"we cant give out specs"
-"as we said we cant give out specs"
-"this is a LED, but we cant give out any specs"
(and this is how it should have followed)
-"no, we dont want to give you any specs!!!"
-"even if you cry, we wont give you any specs"
-"even if you pull down my pants, i wont give you any specs... okay now that's just wrong..."

hehe anyways, i do hope this new fancy dell comes with some decent hardware, and not some crappy intel celeron *laughs*

The Adamo site is up, but there is nothing there aside from pretentious bull. Even the links are just to blog posts. Here's to hoping for at least a penryn CPU and a slightly ok video card.

Montevina is the chipset they still use penryn chips. The Adamo will most likely use the low voltage cpus which consume less power and are smaller.

There are newer chips that run at a higher FSB. The size is only one factor, the lower power consumption is big too since the battery can't be large to save on weight.

I think the adamo is going to use ULV CPUs, which are small but slow (though better than atom)...I doubt that dell would use discreet video cards...this line is going to replace the XPS, so I think its price tag would be around 1k3-1k6 start

Both the Macbook Air and Voodoo Envy both go this route and I would assume the Adamo will follow with the latest tech such at the Intel 4500 IGP and Montevina chipset.

That sounds predictable but it would already be obsolete at this point. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it will use some of the first mobile Nehalem chips.

I spoke to a Dell EPP representative who said the Adamo is going to be a super pricey laptop. He said they started passing out literature for for the reps to start familiarizing themselves with the new Adamo.

According to him, at MINIMUM it will sell for $1799USD for the basic model, which will include fairly standard specs.

Also, according to the Dell EPP rep, they are planning on releasing this in the 4th Quarter, which is November, just in time for the holidays because it's usually the big bounce the shareholders look for as to how the company will do in the holiday season and the following fiscal year.

Now personally I love the design, and is a laptop I'd love to shove in the faces of those target Macbook Air buyers. Snobby B*st*rds! But in reality, in this economy, I do not see many people buying this type of laptop anytime soon. I think it is just solely for the purpose of diverting attention from Apple and centralizing it to Dells' new motto which is, "Hey-Look-At-Us-We-Have-The-Best-Of-Both-Worlds-Designer-Style-&-Competitive-Prices"

    Huh? Snobby?

If you buy this laptop for $1800 its like buying a pimped out Chevy when you could have gotten a BMW.

Hint: The Macbook Air also starts at $1800 and was said to be very expensive.
