I was wondering if anyone can tell me whether you have significant performance increases? Also does the laptop run cooler than with Vista? And lastly I would assume that the hard drive thrashing would stop. Is this correct?

hey everyone - great postings. I just "upgraded" off vista back to a legit copy of XP Professional but have spent two days struggling to find the right drivers! I've tried all links posted on this forum but most are expired. I've tried using Vostro 1500 and manufacture sites but have no luck. What I REALLY need is the ethernet/wireless driver on XP Prof (32 bit). Can someone post what updated driver I should download?

    Dell Studio XPS 1340
    2.4 Ghz, 2.75 GB Ram

    Thank you in advance.

I see the TS isn’t updated for a long time.
I’m planning to do a format again. At the moment I’ve mostly the drivers from the topic start installed, except of the following drivers:

    nvidia driver (from nvidia self):
179.28, but 185.85 is already out. Didn’t tried that one yet. Maybe someone of you did try. Which driver do you guys recommend?
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_notebook_winxp_185.85_whql.html

    Creative Labs Dell Webcam Manager:
I’ve installed this one for more advanced functions for the webcam.
    http://support.dell.com/support/dow...1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=25&fileid=229607

    Dell Touchpad - Pointing Stick:
    R175658.exe instead of R155586.EXE
    http://support.dell.com/support/dow...1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=17&fileid=238839

    Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN:
I’ve have a other WiFi card than the TS.
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/fil...ofessional*&lang=eng&strOSs=44&submit=Go!#DRV

    Dell Quickset Drivers:
    R188931.exe instead of R165094.exe
    http://support.us.dell.com/support/...eid=R188931&formatcnt=1&libid=0&fileid=258765

Are there any other updates for drivers? Or which drivers do you guys recommend?

That is strange, but you do had sound in vista? Because it sounds like broken speakers to me.

    Btw, I'm running Windows 7 now. It's great :).

Hey there! Gonna bring this post back from the dead.

I recently "upgraded" a buddy's XPS M1330 to XP from Vista (Yeah, I know...but I haven't been able to get my hands on a copy of Win7 yet). Anyway, got everything up and running no problem. The only issue I'm having is the CD/DVD player will not recognize data/movie DVDs. It can see CDs no problem. It's the Mata UJ-867s. I have the hard drive mode in BIOS set to SATA but I did change it to IDE just to see if that would do anything...no dice. I've deleted the Upper/Lower filters and still no luck. I've uninstalled/reinstalled...no luck. I am at my wits end on this thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Do you have the Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card? If so, there is a link on the first page. If not, find out what type of wireless card you have (it should be on your order receipt) and post it here, and we'll probably know where to find the XP drivers.

For those of you having Graphic Driver Issues:

XP drivers for Dell XPS m1330 My 1st Blog

It appears I did NOT have nvidia drivers on my M1330 and therefore had Intel Drivers.

For intel drivers for video - do NOT try the nvidia graphics drivers (unsigned) from laptop guide websites - it will NOT work. Use the INTEL link above it will update all your chipset to the latest.

    Hello again all, :)

I have good news for one who had problems with bluetooth 360 after downgrade xps m1330 from windows vista to windows xp.

After a long absent in browsing the web for the solution with no result, yesterday i finally found the answer on the web. Here's the link to the page i found:

Twig's Tech Tips: Dell XPS m1330 with Windows XP

The driver from Dell "R155172" works perfectly on my Dell XPS M1330. Here's the direct link to the file:

    Dell's R155172

This one link stated on twigstechtips wireless-driver lists a driver ( R231570 ) which also works on xps m1330, but i prefer the one twig gave ( R155172 ).
I know not which one's better, but it seems both of them works.

Thanks again to snowbro in this forum in providing links to the drivers needed to downgrade xps m1330 from windows vista to windows xp. Most of them works beautifully. It's just that i realize for my bluetooth is 360, instead of 355. That's why the bluetooth solution snowbro gave didn't work on my xps.

    Cheers.. :)

bringing this back from the dead myself.

I've had problems with my M1330 under XP that I'm sure no-one else has, I run DJ software from it and i get what are called "USB dropouts". as such im trying to find the most up to date drivers for my USB ports.

I'm pretty sure these are located in the "Intel Mobile Chipset" package (or R153997)?

Can anyone point me in the right direction for the very latest of these? Most importantly for XP but for win 7 / Vista too.

    thanks

Thanks to UDI I have Win XP running on my machine for some time now.

I was wondering if anyone has tried to install a VM on this laptop while running XP and if there are any pointers to that effect.

    Thanks,
