I remember rather clearly that it was only $130

It's available, just don't click "Recommended", click "Standard" or "Performance" or one of the others.

That is correct. They are sending it as a warranty replacement

Cliff notes: Warranty replaced my Inspiron 1520 that had a 1680x1050 display with an XPS 15 w/ 720p display. I called them today after noticing that the 1080p was again available. They sent a new 1080p out, overnight, to me with no probs after telling them I am extremely dissatisfied with the lower resolution.

NICE!! This must be an awesome deal for you then! Once you get your replacement, will you please let us know if the now-available 1080p display is indeed the same as the previous 1080p, and how it compares to the 720p. I need to know if it's worth it to pay $195 for that upgrade.

I will. Hopefully the tech shows up tomorrow. They did confirm it was a B+RG LED from the XPS 15 and the part # was X7C4C.

It's worth it, I'd pay +$300 for 1080p any day over 720p, no matter if it's super-quality or just average quality.

You are getting the awesome 1920x1080 LCD!
X7C4 is the part number, per Dell Parts.
    See my comments below.

I then called Dell Parts (x7244161) and asked if they had any 15.6 FHD LCD screens in stock. They do, but they are super-expensive!

    15.6 HDF (Parts # iJC2N) ... $99.99 (1366x768)
    15.6 FHD (Parts # X7C4) ... $364.99 (1920x1080)

It's been duely noted. At this point if I get a higher-res screen it will be for just that. I'm not really worried about the amazing color gamut because I've lived around pretty mediocre screens as it is. The 720p one I have does look nice as it is and I'll probably keep it as is for quite a while. I did manage to at least get $120 to keep the laptop as is since I hinted at the possibility of returning this one and reordering another appropriate unit.

That's really sad. I knew the sales reps weren't the sharpest knives in the drawer, but it's pretty bad when you can just go on the website and order it, but the sales rep is telling you that they don't know when they'll be available again.

I once asked a sales rep something about the E5510's 900p display, and they said they didn't have that option for the E5510. They said that right as I was looking at the "choose your LCD panel" page and seeing both 720p and 900p.

I should mention that anyone that wants a 1080p display on their laptop should order one now. It is still listed on the website.

Yep. Six days, including holidays, since I made my order. Looks like I'll have to cancel another order to get it right.
