Hi, can anybody help me with my BIOS login issue? I seems to have forgotten my own BIOS password. Is there any program out there that can overwrite the BIOS to default setting hopefully resetting its password or do I need to physically rip out the BIOS battery (if there is any) from the motherboard to reset it? Please help thanks.

p/s: I've tried accessing the mainboard from the back panel but couldn't see any BIOS battery or similar chipset. And I couldn't manage to unscrew the whole mainboard out from its upper casing (where the keyboard and mousepad are). Please teach me if there is a way to take out the mainboard successfully from its casing, I might be able to find the CMOS battery on the upper side of the mainboard.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello,

My VX2S no longer boots. I read, earlier in this forum, the same symptoms - it starts and you hear the Lamborghini sounds, then nothing but a blank screen and it shuts off when you hit the power button. It appears to be a bad motherboard and I have not been able to locate any new ones for sale -a few used ones of which I am leary of being in the same situation again soon.

    Anyone have suggestions?

Also, if I can't find a new motherboard, I was thinking about trying the " reflow" process with the old one - any comments about that?

    Thanks

If you're going to reflow the whole m/b, I'll probably suggest that you do it with the GPU card first and see if your system will boot up again?

I had the same symptom as yours previously and all I did was changing a new GPU card.

I should think you should still be able to find GPU card for our VX2s online, browse through some old postings and you might get some idea where.

BTW, do you know how to rip the whole M/B out of the notebook casing's? I have only managed to rip the bottom cover out totally but couldn't manage to detach the M/B from its upper casing. Couldn't find where else the screws that is still mounting the M/B to its upper casing or maybe there are other ways to do that. Please shed some light on this problem as I need to get to the CMOS to change it's battery.

    Thank you.

Thanks for that direction. I have noticed on other posts references to bad display cards, it seems to me that the Lamborghini uses an Nvidia card - I will follow up on that.

I have not taken the MB out yet, but from some YouTube videos I watched I think the key board has to be removed in order to access the screws holding the MB. As I recall, some tabs at the top of the keyboard need to be pried.

Hope this helps and thanks for the tip on the graphics card.

Has anyone successfully managed to control the laptops fan?
Special ACPI drivers may be necessary to let speedfan or some other program to control it.

I´ve tried to install the Win 8 Release Preview but it keeps telling me that the CPU isn´t compatible. As far as I can tell the problem is that the NX-function of the CPU is inactive. Normally it should be possible to activate it through the BIOS but ASUS seems to have ignored that function. Has anyone any ideas on how to proceed?

    Regards

    Bios for 4gb x64?

Theres is an unofficial 303 bios for the v1s that fixes the problem with 4 gb in x64 os.
Would this work on the vx2s?
Would be nice to finally get all 4 gb up and running at full speed!

    I am using 4GB in my VX2S with an official BIOS release - I believe I'm using 301. I have tested both Win7 x64 and Ubuntu x64.

Hi, are you seeing 4gb in task manager?
    System running fast and smooth?

I am also using bios 301, but system is really slow unless I use msconfig to reduce memory... Boot time is more than 4 mins if I dont.

Hi WLF46WLF any chance you could provide me with details on upgrading GPU? Or even better, a "how to" guide. I would like to do this upgrade, as my gpu just died.

    Thanks!

Hi, you have to buy the GT130M, I have a blue model from VX5. I can provide you the modded BIOS for the laptop.

I provided it even to Doze; he had a red colour GPU, but to be honest I don't know if it finally works for him, as I havent received the final feedback after the initial issues.

    send me your e-mail

    Bye

Hi, WLF46WLF really good to know that you were succesful in upgrading the GPU of your VX2S laptop. I have had same issue with the gpu earlier and ASUS replaced the Laptop for me. The new laptops GPU worked for around 4 years and then artifacts started appearing. So got the GPU reflowed, which worked for another 6months then started having black screen problems but after I boot the laptop and keep it running for some time let it heat up then reboot again, it works again. Now I have been to trying to replace the GPU itself but not able to find one. I found one 9600m gt MXM II module and 130m mxm II module. Compared both and found 9600m gt to be more superior than that of 130m was wondering if you can share the modded bios with me. Also if you can find modded bios for 9600m gt. Would be really greatful to you for the help.

    Thank you.

    Regards,
    RagzReddy.

Hi WLF46WLF, I'm looking to replace my failed 8600M GT with a GT130M as you did for the VX2S and would greatly appreciate information on the procedure, e.g., modded bios version and .inf file. Thanks for the help!

Hi Phillipfry with the help of WLF46WLF I have been able to succesfully upgrade to gt130m....Even before you try to upgrade the first and foremost thing to do is install the modded bios for the laptop motherboard to accept gt130m. So if you are able to access your laptop display then go ahead and update the bios with the modded one.

    Procedure to update bios.
    Start Command Prompt
    Type:
    cd C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\WinFlash
    Push Enter.
(this is the default install location)
    Type:
    Winflash /nodate
    Push Enter.
Choose the modded BIOS file and it will let you update (and give you a warning saying it's older).
Let it run, do not do anyhting else. It will ask for Restart. Do it. It should test the BIOS and shutdown from what I remember. Then start if from Power. This is tested by me on my Asus laptop.
If WLF46WLF still has not sent you the bios let me know will send you..

...then order for gt130m. Only get Asus Lamborghini VX5 GT 130M N10P-GE1 1Gb DDR3 MXM II P/N :69N0DWV10B01P-01 REV 2.0 blue color board. There is a similar ASUS F90SG GT 130M 1GB DDR2 VIDEO CARD MXM II 69N0DAV10A01P-A01 REV.1.0 N10P-GE1 blue board which wont work with VX2S even with modded bios. you need different bios for that. so be careful while ordering and try to get the picture from the supplier from whom you are buying before shipment coz they get confused easily. Happened with me. So only get Asus Lamborghini VX5 GT 130M N10P-GE1 1Gb MXM P/N :69N0DWV10B01P-01 REV 2.0 blue color board. If you want can help with suppliers let me know. Right now am getting 50c at idle and around 60c while browsing and 66c-72c while using flight sim. Will apply good quality thermal paste and report back. As for drivers am using self modded 307.83 for Vista. working like a charm no reboots what so ever. Intially for two days had few reboots. so took out the card made sure it sat well in the slot then reinstalled the drivers...clean installation and no reboots since then. Hope this helps. WLF46WLF has been very helpful and his friend who modded the bios else this laptop would have been a piece of junk. So thanks to them.. Any help while upgrading feel free to ask.
REMOVE POWER CORD AND BATTERY EVERYTIME BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE BACK PANEL TO ACCESS THE VIDEO CARD, SO AS NOT TO SHORT CIRCUIT THE MOTHER BOARD.

    Regards.

Thank you very much for the reply, Ragzreddy! As of yet, I have not heard from WLF46WLF in regards to the modded bios. At the moment, I am unable to access my laptop display but I suspect there may be a way around that temporarily. Until recently when I came across this thread, I was quite reluctant to swap out the botched NVIDIA 8600M GT due to the lack of information that was available on the procedure. The whole NVIDIA fiasco on this particular card model was extremely frustrating, to say the least. At any case, I wasn't exactly sure which graphics card(s) would actually work. So, I definitely appreciate the detailed information that you have provided thus far. BTW, which supplier would you recommend for the new video card?

At any case, I'm actually really excited to get my system running again and I'm certain with the help of experienced members like you and WLF46WLF I'll be able to do just that. One last note, it doesn't appear that we can send personal messages on this forum, unless I've missed something, but I can also be reached at the following email: [email protected]

    Thanks again!

Hi all, it's a long time since I've been using my VX2s, I had 3 issues with the 8600 GC (black screens) in 7 years and recently found a used one on ebay. My laptop came alive again but I don't think it will last very long...so I'd like to upgrade to a new GT 130M...
Could someone send me the BIOS file?
