Ah, thank you Thraken. I gave up on page 19 or so
-
I downloaded lastest BIOS's drivers in www.asus.com ...
What I've to do? -
-
I finally got my F3SV in today and I'm totally impressed with the system. I'm installing XP on the machine and have managed to get everything working but one app. Does anyone know where I could DL the XP version of the hotkeys? Like Fn + F10 is supposed to mute the system etc.?
-
feel free to steal my sig if you want (thank the graphics team if you want, i didnt make it myself) -
-
Hope that helps. Good luck. -

Almost all drivers can be installed automatically from the Asus Driver CD
the rest can be found on page 21
for hotkeys you need ATKOSD2(looks really cool, came w/ Vista), or ASUS ATK0100 UTILITY driver(aka, ATK Hotkey, looks a bit more primitive)
Check if you have ATK Hotkey installed under "C:\Program Files\ATK Hotkey\"
If you do, make sure HControl.exe is running, and run ATKOSD.exe from C:\Program Files\ATK Hotkey\ or ATKOSD2.exe from C:\Program Files\ATKOSD2\ and you'll have control of the FN keys -
Also, is anyone else having problems overclocking w/ RivaTuner?
I don't know why, but I can't overclock; anytime i try to change the clock times it reverts back to default. -

Did everyones power adapter come with a 3 prong plug? On top of the fact that its 3 prong, is the fact that the power cable is way too short.
I really wish they just kept to the industry standard of 2 prong. -
-
finnaly got my second GB of RAM back! wow i missed that
-
Thanks guys, yes I needed the ASUS ATK0100 UTILITY driver and now the hotkeys are working fine. Yes if anyone needs any drivers and such, just PM me.

Has anyone achieved any level of success in unlocking the additional pipelines with Rivatuner? I've been working on it for most of today, (got my F3sv-X1 yesterday ) and have made no progress according to Rivatuner's status (16SPs, 8ROPs). So far I've been trying to discern a pattern that would denote certain bits as SPs, and others as ROPs, but haven't even managed to change the numbers one bit. My next test will be to enable all bits, and hope I don't fry my video card.
I've just downloaded the Lost Planet demo for testing purposes as well. I haven't managed to see any performance changes or artifacting after changes, but I may not have been pushing it hard enough, it pegs Guild Wars at 60fps all the time. -
how many of you got a backpack?
I got a targus. has a HP logo on the front though. didnt spot it while buying.
where do you hold it while putting it in the bag's padding area? dont want to break the screen or something holding it at the wrong place.
this is where i lift from when putting in :
-
Mine came with a Carry on bag, but I bought a Targus for it anyway.
-
do you find your F3SV solid ? isnt it too cheap ? -
build quality is definitely not cheap! i find it quite solid and reliable
~1500$ is probably a bit cheap for its performance / quality -
Otherise really good build quality. -
hey just got my F3SV B1
and i have one question can iI disable the shared memory with the graphice card ?? so it will use only 256 it has
because iI see vista takes alot of RAM
anyway i bought another 1GB ram but there is an option to disable the shared memory? -

Hi guys im looking to purchase this laptop in the UK. I have cancelled my order for the M1330 as it has taken so bloody long. Can I be convinced that this model will satisfy me since i play CS:S and BF2 mainly. Will it support the Intel Readyboost technology?
Thanks
Here is where I will be buying it from. Anyone know any recommended sites in the UK?

Yes, yes, and yes, on all three of your questions. In fact, Eddie(Geared2play.com) has done some testing with Robson and the F3Sv, and GentechPC offers it as an upgrade.
-
Brilliant, I shall be buying it now. -
Hello everyone. I purchased the F3Sv-b1 about 2 months ago and overall I've been satisfied with it's performance, although I've been most disappointed with both the performance of the video card, which was apparently underclocked by Asus.
Anywho, I've also been disappointed in the battery life, which lasts only 2 hours on a good day with the standard battery saving setting enabled. Anyone know how to extend the battery life? -
FusiveResonance Notebook Evangelist
youre gonna need a battery with a higher cell count. good luck finding that though. Otherwise...youre **** outa luck. The battery life for this system is abysmal.

this actually reminds me of a question i have, after i got my second GB of RAM back my fps actually dropped to like 83. Why is that? is this second stick of RAM slow or something? im really not sure what speed i got (it was on sale so i bought it, wasnt really thinking i guess ) -

Hi guys,
I've purchased this notebook one month ago, so far with no problems (ain't Vista a problem?), I've installed another 1 gig of RAM and I was very pleased so far.
But today something strange happened - I can't hear any sound either from sounspeakers or headphones. I reinstalled audio drivers (tried both from asus pages) but with no succes... It looks that I'ts working properly in windows but all I can hear is popping sound when headphones are plugged. Actually even the pop-up icon that jack has been plugged or unplugged in is not showing anymore. Sound doesn't work in any application I've tried. It worked this morning and I don't recall doing anything with the sound settings since then. Any idea? Every input appreciated -

Oh...geez...I've just found out that the hibernating\powering back on might help. Gonna try it -
I just faced a weird problem.
I have a teammate with whom I would be doing projects. I made a user account for him. But when I try logging in with his, it doesnt and gives me an error asking me to contact the administrator.
anyone faced it? -
Got it...I've only closed my lappy and then powered it on and it helped. Weird, I'm wondering why the multiple restarts didn't help It seems that I'm not the only one with the same problem. At least with a simple solution
Thanks anyway -
I'm just wondering if anyone has the F3sv-B1 model and can please tell me their GPU idle-gaming temperatures on high performance..my idle on high performance is around 70-77 and during heavy gaming is around 85-90c...is that normal??
-
-
~65 idle for my GPU which is quite high, thermal paste is just bad i assume, i changed the thermal paste used and it dropped ~5 degrees...

Hi All.
Well got my F3SV-AK118G (Austrlaian Version) WSVGA+ Screen.
I looked for a new laptop for ages before setting on this one.
Overall i am very very happy with this notebook. Price vs built and quality is awsome.
My only dissapointments are the SPDIF output is on the front of the unit while video is on the side, a bit dumb really. Battery life could be a bit better.
Other than that it is a great unit. Hightly reccomended.
I dumped Vista and got XP MCE2005 on and it works great.
The only prob i am having is getting all the ATK hotkeys to work properly. But i am sure i will figure it out. -
-
This is the error I get when Vista starts.
This appears before the icons for different users is shown.
When I click on admin icon, Vista starts. But if i click the other, I get this
it seems to be a unique problem -

Seems like the service isn't running. run services.msc from the run command window, and check whether Group Policy client is enabled and running. IF it isn't, set it to automatic.
-
Hi Sess.
I did that. Group policy was there and it was automatic. -

Hmm... Is RPC enabled too?
