Has anybody tried Windows 7 on one of these bad boys?

Vista just doesnt seem to cut it. Especially with all that bloatware prepackaged from ASUS. I wonder why they don't supply the standalone Vista ASUS OEM disc.

I have been using Windows 7 on my desktop and its like Vista on steroids.

Anybody tried using 7 on the F9S, if so how are the drivers?

You can use the recovery disk you have to make a clean Vista install, see the Info BoothFAQ. Basically on recent models, after a recovery from the DVD, you will be asked to insert the drivers&utils CD and then you can selectively install only those drivers&utils that you want.

Wow thats a great post, the Info Booth FAQ.

Thanks so much. I'll reinstall using the DVD.

Another quick question, I tried operating a recovery from the DVD I get this huge "ERROR" sign and it says "cannot load imagex0 from SRC WIM file".

It works from the recovery partition, but I was hoping to completely wipe out the factory HDD and set my own partitions (therefore erasing the recovery partition) and getting rid of the bloatware.

It's likely the recovery disk cannot be read (is it scratched?)

    Some other possible steps:
    Backup your data.

Try deleting all partitions except the recovery partition, and then making a big partition in their place. Then try running recovery.

Otherwise, if you have a spare HDD I would suggest trying to recover from the disks on the HDD. If it works then it's a problem with the current partition setup on the HDD. You can try wiping it then (at the cost of losing the recovery partition)

Is it possible to add the F9S/F9Sg disassembly guide(s) to the info booth?
