If you're looking for a sleeve, check out the waterfield laptop sleeves. They're custom fit to any notebook and look really nice....I'm not sure abou the A/C adapter.....here's the link: http://www.sfbags.com/products/sleevecases/sleevecases.htm

Sorry if I missed this elsewhere, but does anyone have any pictures of the power supply that comes with the laptop? I have seen that it is a 65W? They are generally not too big. If there aren't pictures, could I at least have dimensions for it?

    Dimms are:

    133mm Long
    68mm Wide
    30mm Deep

From other adaptors I have seen it is about average.

Wow, thank you VERY much for the quick response and great picture! That's right about where I wanted it to be and seems pretty much identical to my current adapter!

Please help me on where I can find a W3J-H026P in Daly City. A friend of mine went to Daly City and gave me a favor to buy me a laptop and bring it home to Philippines. Online ordering is not possible because he has no credit card that is accepted in US. So our only chance is to find a store, buy it with cash, and pick it up. I really really need all your help. I am also open for suggestions or alternatives.

If you ask me why i can't buy the notebook here in Phils., it is because all of the electronics here are INSANELY OVERPRICED. Their prices are almost twice the prices in US.

Please help me. Thank you very much in advance.

FYI I purchased mine from Proportable, I paid while I was in the UK, I just got his bank account details and did a transfer directly into his account.

Worked very well, I had it delivered to my work address in the US

What does everyone get in Super Pi? I know its not the most definitive test but I just looked at the newest w7 review and it says it gets 2 mil in 1 min15s. My friend's dell 6400 has been getting 1min17. However I have only been getting 1min21s. All of the cpus are 1.83 GHz......I know...it's a measly few seconds...but what gives? I had the same processess running as the dell when I was doing it and still gave me that time. I had turned off all unnecessary stuff. Could it be from different HDD's? I am pretty sure they all have 5400 rpm drives but they are different make. Anyways I'm sure some people think I might be crazy asking such questions but I'm more curious than anything. I am still happy with my w3j.
    thanks

This should be a quick question, but what are the methods to disable the wireless on this laptop? Does it have a hardware button/switch or is it all done in software?

kf_man: its a button on the right side of the notebook..but if you shutdown the hcontrol it doesn't work so i guess you could call it software...

Ok, that's a little disappointing, I think a hardware control over the wireless is really the ideal way to go. It's not a show stopper, but it is something to think about.

you'd have to manually shut the software down for that to happen..i only did it once by accident..so try not to consider that a negative

I'm not worried because of what you said, the reason is because I may decide to use linux on this laptop. At this point, I probably won't be, but I like to keep some options open. It's not really a negative, but there is always annoying software riding behind those buttons as well.

ahh i get what you mean..yeah they might not work on linux..though im thinking that a lot of the other laptops with switches like that have to run on some kind of software..so i guess the only way to be sure is to find someone who also runs linux to see if they would still work

ok I win :D ha ha not quite but close, I ran twice and got 1:16 both times, I run a 160gb Seagate 5400.3 perpendicular drive (currently with only 33gb free) and loaded with lots of software, when I first instaled this drive it booted in 30 sec

So would be interesting to see if I cleared some space and processes if i could shave a sec!

I would also like to see a W3J with 2.0ghz processor and a W3J with 7200rpm drives... I know they are out there :D

Ps: I have the 1.83ghz Duo with 2gb RAM

haha yes dan..i guess i forgot that important part of it -_-

from nz's time it seems the HD plays a role too..as i have the 100gb 5400 in there..i also only have 1gb compared to him..but the super pi doesn't really draw that much from the available memory

jterp- haha there we go- By the way, what were you using to undervolt? I find your time interesting because the guy who reviewed the w3j on this site had similar times to me. If you had a program that makes it go as fast as the 2.0 Ghz like lord roddington's (~1:16)- then that would be sweet. Makes me think (wishfully) that everything else might be sped up too! thanks

Great, if you could go to this site:

    http://www.benchmarkhq.ru/english.html?/be_cpu.html

Scroll down to Super Pi, download it, unzip it, run it, calculate to 2mil

and post your result here :D

Mine is also rock solid, we are next to an organic to go cofee shop at work, their wifi is free and fast.

Maybe you should take your W3J to another wifi hot spot and see how it goes.

i haven't had a single problem with the wireless card, which impressed me because my first experience with wireless was terrible, with the connection dropping all the time and the speed usually below 36mb. i can use this laptop anywhere in the house(maybe even anywhere on the property, i've used it outside too) and get perfect reception

Greetings to all. Sorry I haven't clocked in such a long time, but I have my reasons. Here's an interesting one for ya. I stand by my review, I think the w3j is a superb computer, and I couldn't be happier with it. The ONLY thing that's giving me grief with it right now is the touchpad hotkey on the right-hand side of the keyboard. For some reason it's decided to stop working on me. I've re-installed the touchpad drivers a couple of times, but to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas outside of cracking the bios and screwing around in there?

I know this sounds simple, but have you tried a System Restore to before the problem surfaced? Once in awhile this cures stuff that simply appears out of nowhere with no explanation .

OK so i downloaded super Pi and ran it, and heres what happend!

So, i turned off all my extra stuff, wireless etc and closed out of all open apps. (didnt defrag the HD haha so that might effect this but only by a second or two)

I ran super Pi under the 2M setting and my time was ... <drum roll>

    1:14!

That was with a Seagate 100GB ST910021A 7200 RPM drive with 35GB free on it.

    Go figure!

Hi sorry it took me so long to respond. Been busy. I am from San Diego, CA, USA. However my friend brought me my W3J from Taiwan. Therefore it came with all the stuff and 2 year global warranty. The CPU speed is lower than the U.S. countpart but the savings of $300 was worth it for me, since Blizzard games are what I mainly play and don't need all *that* much juice.

To my knowledge U.S. ones don't come with the messenger bag and mouse, but sometimes they might vary... *shrug*

I got my case today too. After extensive research between Sumdex, Timbuk2, Brenthaven, Crumpler and other sleeves, I ended up going with the Shinza Zeroshock. The sleeve seems substantial enough I guess. The only down-side is it's too wide/high (top to bottom) so it no longer fits into my Asus W3J Messenger. Therefore, if I wanted to carry it around in the messenger, I'd have to forgo the sleeve, or get another sleeve. Lengthwise (side by side) it fits fine, so I guess I can carry it around without buckling up the W3J messenger. (As you might be able to tell, I've grown really attached to my W3J messenger bag. Since it's custom made for the W3J, it really fits like a glove and offers substantial protection and the little Asus accents with super soft leather handle, and I mean soft. Even Downy doesn't make my clothes that soft. :p)

nice, the 5400 rpm hard drive is probably the bottleneck on my setup, but hey its only 3 seconds on superpi. :) in fact since i'm getting the same score as the 1.83Ghz models its possible that the hd is the bottleneck on those too.

Hey, does asus do repair work after your warranty has expired? Like Dell? I'm not talking about them sending you parts but you sending in your W3J and them repairing and then you paying the bill? Thanks guys.
