If its like the desktop it should go to both cards on its own, its not like the cat software gets installed to the cards memory its just linked as your current drivers.

I did have to manually updated them once from the device manager due to driver corruption.

So you can use the new desktop cat drivers on the laptop? Thats good news being stuck with stock drivers sucks.

Ya they have been having problems getting other drivers installed on this machine and a few people were trying to come to grips with why they wont work. Usually someone can use a mobility modder to mod the drivers to work with any mobile GPU(ATI) but these are such new cards no one has had much luck getting them to work proper atleast not on both cards.

    That's disappointing.

If I calculated the 3dmark06 score from my old desktop 4850 using Bibsy's CPU score (2555), even my desktop 4850 gets 11361.

That was stock...the 9.2 drivers i cannot get to work with both cards or crossfire....basically the 9.2 just works with the 1st card of the two, and the second one sits disabled.

You really have to know what the rest of the hardware looks like when you say that though.

    For example there's a GT725 owner over in the MSI forums that's got a 4850 scoring 10.5K with his CPU overclocked to 2.7Ghz and RK computers got a 4850 scoring 12.7+K 3DMarks running a T9800 OC'd to 3.51Ghz.

Regardless there's no question W90's card will definitely score more than a 4850 because of the extra clocks but how much more is what I'm interested in.

So if the new stock is coming with a new bios version...why haven't asus put the new bios onto their site for download? This would avoid alot of RMA's

Honestly, I think it's more of an issue of communication. Probably, the people who need to know about this bios issue do not. The tech. I've been dealing with didn't, and if he didn't, I'm sure others don't either. Of course, it is better for Asus to make sure the bios flashes go smoothly, meaning they do it themselves, so you could be right too.

Speaking of which, do you know if Asus overnights back to the customer, or do they use regular shipping? That makes a significant difference to a customer waiting anxiously, i.e. myself and probably everyone else.

Call Asus and explain the situation. They'll probably try to talk you through some standard procedures over the phone. I just said I tried all of that already. After that, he promptly gave me an RMA number. You'll get all of the information over email. Package up your computer, send it back. You should get a call from Asus after they receive it. Then you can hear what they have to say, whether or not they can fix it with software, or push for a complete replacement. I should be hearing from them on monday, so I'll keep everyone informed to how the process goes.

It may be off topic, but is Clevo preparing a notebook with two mobile 280s? I doubt one 280 could beat two 4870s, no matter what the early reviews say. And if there are two, then it will likely cost considerably more than the w90.

1:yes there are two high end clevos
    2:d900f with a i7 and 1 280mgtx
    3:m980nu with 3 gpus (9400m/and 2 gtx280m's)
    4:the w90 with a quad & gddr3 will run you about $3700.00 more with gddr5
5:the 280's cost quite a bit less than the 9800m
6: if they run a low end cpu like the p8600 and so on...could cost the same amount as a w90. all speculation till they actually put a price on it.

Ya the M98(clevo) is coming which looks very similar to the W90 and has 2x280m's and sports a 18.4 inch screen as well . I have little to no doubt that its going to be faster then the W90 because the 280s are faster or supposed to be then the current 9800gtx's which seem to be closer in performance to the 4870s, though that will vary from game to game etc. But i think the main thing will be the price and if its selling for say 3k+ then i would not be interested anyhow . The great thing about the W90 is its powerful has alot of potential and is priced very reasonable for all you get +plus i dont think i could wait another few months, i think its july or something like that for a release .

edit:Lol i was typing right when you posted :)

All the more reason for Ati to work harder on their mobile drivers if they'll be threatened by nvidia. Still, it's shocking that a core going back years to the 8800gt can outperform a modern 4800 core. Disappointing then that the mobile 4800 series isn't living up to the game changing desktop 4800 series.

Its hard to say at this point what clevo will do interms of pricing but you could very well be right and they could release the machine with a low level CPU and the 2 cards and hit the $2200 mark to compete against asus . The 280m's are way cheaper this round so its possible. its just to bad its going to be a while for an $$ announcement .

It's kinda hard for ATI to provide driver support for their partner cards unless they make their Certification Program mandatory.....which they should seeing as ATI offers the service for free.

    Far Cry 2 please! :)

Two separate tests would be great too:
1920x1080, DX10, max graphics settings, max AF, 4x FSAA
1920x1080, DX10, max graphics settings, max AF, no FSAA

Curious to see how AA affects the performance of these cards. Also, I generally don't feel a need for AA at these high resolutions, so if the frame hit is significant, no AA is fine for me.

Nice catch! And it looks like the w90 page is finally up to speed, instead of the pre-release page that used to be up.

    Here's the link:

    http://www.asus.com/Product.aspx?P_ID=uJ1aGDQDfOLUcJjH&content=specifications

'tis a shame I don't have my w90 here to install the bios on. I guess though it's better to have Asus deal with it.

Anybody going to try this out?

The new BIOS is indeed there.
I also selected other OS types and it still shows up in the list of downloads.

FYI: this is my first fourm post (on any site) typed using the W90 :D

Well I'm working away from home right now and I don't know where it is...says its delivered but it was my laptop cooler not my laptop. So I don't know what the status is. I have a claim# with newegg and they are doing a trace. I've done all the phoning I can for now...for all I know it could've been delivered and stolen from my front porch cause the dumb ups guy left it there...I had a family member drive 3 hours to check twice now but I just moved to my new home recently...don't know until I get home...not to mention I stopped by the location it said the computer was at before i went to work on Monday and the UPS guys said it wasn't there or on any trucks. They actually told me I was screwed and there had been some pieces go missing lately. Hopefully I get my money back if thats the case...its gonna be a while though from the looks of things :(

BTW striker I can't see the bios on the support page either...I can on the other link though.
