Wow that cat looks absolutely crushed....it's like he bought a notebook expecting 4870s then found out they only use GDDR3.
-
Thats exactly how I feel...I bought a W90Vp but the postal man stole it!
On a side note...can't believe how long its taking asus to get this worked out... -
Ow man guys, we're done for! Check this out!!

Still waiting for mine... *sigh*
On the plus side my W90 is certainly getting the scenic tour at the hands of UPS (And they call this expedited service?) -
GL with that UPS in Canada blows...
Getting so sick of my Dell e1705 with a fried Geforce 7800...i can't even keep framerate in videos let alone minesweeper lol. -
Seeing as they're out of stock again, I'd just like to remind everybody that my buddy DramaFoYoMama is selling a W90 in the NBR Marketplace.
Jus sayin...
Hey, Asus doesn't have a BIOS download for the W90Vp, but they DO have one for the W90V;
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
Could this work, it says it's version 421. -
That says first release and by the date of it looks older then dirt, so i wouldnt even mess with it TBH . His machine seems to be fine from what i have read, so i would just leave well enough alone for now till maybe something newer comes along .

Here is a post from Paradyne i found about his bios date etc
paradyne64
ASUS BIOS Version 0502 Date 02/25/09
EC Firmware WNB-0504
madmechs version
Asus BIOS: 0404
Build Date: 12/30/08
EC Firmware Version: WNB_0504
both w90's seem to be working fine, but still need the numbers off the first batch of w90's.
Might want to see what Drama's has on it to compare -
So I finally got Crysis running, and done with dinner (PS: I cooked, Authentic Asian food too )
What settings for the Crysis run comparison? -
I would run a high and very high run and maybe a run with everything set to high but shaders set to very high as well . This is how i test my rig.
-
Okay. Beginning now.
EDIT:
Found it. -
X:/crysis/bin64 and 32 folder its a batch file it will say benchmark GPU .
John likes to use a program as well to run the bench as it lets you change settings on the fly without having to go into the game itself . Still these results should be fairly accurate either way . -
PS: watching it makes me want to hurl. -
-
-
So did Drama box up his machine ? i have not seen him post here since the day he decided he had enough and decided to sell it . Would have been great to get some more people involved in this whole process .
-
Ran all high twice. Will post results in a bit.
Simon Pegg, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz are AWESOME.
Edit:... will need to re-run tests. Some problems came up. -
i just got back. was out and about.
i see dt got it up and running. cool
best to run at all high and at 1680x1050 and 1920x1200 -
Ran the first series of tests on the wrong resolution. Was wondering my scores were that high. lol
Doing two all high and two high. Will be going for a bit, will continue tests when back. -
your correct. 1920x1080
im in and out right now..watching my show life -

16:9 widescreen like HD TV's
It works well actually with a high res screen because many console ports are 16:9 and all your movie material is.
In a lower resolution I think I would prefer 16:10 because you need all the vert pixels you can get, but for a 1920x1080 and up 16:9 is perfect, and its what I use at home (37" HD LCD for my desktop)
You will really appreciate it when watching widescreen movies or HD TV channels. Plus for games you get a little boost in performance over 1920x1200 with a better looking wider aspect. -

Very High. 1920 x 1080 Stock everything, with Nvidia drivers. NO AA
-
wow, they took a serious hit there.
-
All high, 1920 x 1080. Stock Clocks, with Nvidia drivers. NO AA.
Did it? I have no clue about Crysis results.
PS: These were run on a D901C, not Asus W90vp. It is merely here to provide a comparison for you guys.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
Woot. Anyone here actually satisfied with this rig yet?
-
they are working on it. now that the next batch has hit the streets.
-
Ya theres a few on here that seem very happy . New machines are shipping now with a different bios and a couple others here have RMA'd theres to get it corrected etc. Im very tempted bro . Ive just been sitting idly by while people get it together with benches etc before i make the call. Good to see ya again btw .
-
Those runs on high seem pretty solid dtwn . Not sure what they compare to on johns rig at those settings ?

Though my money is on the W90Vp-A1 as it comes with the better cpu & hard drive, blueray and all that stuff. More for your money IMO.
The CPU & Dual HDD's are very important to me, but I would gladly give up the blueray for a cheaper price, but hey with a nearly 19" screen in full true 1080p I may just have to get a few BR disks for the heck of it. -

Id imagine you can get a pretty good overclock on the lower models unless you get a lemon.
Im looking forward to the ability to do more video rendering so even @ 2ghz quad is going to do me more justice than a 2.8ghz dual. -
but noone contacted "mobility modder" team @driver heaven ???
They seem the only one skillful enough to help you guys!!! -
the qx9300 es q samples we're 450.00, before they got real popular. and they over clock pretty well for a mobile chip....
stock- 19x1080 high settings (dual core mode)
19x1080 over clocked to the gtx280m high settings (dual core mode)
only ones to help=no
but no one seems to have the exact id string or what it should really be. whether the cards should read 4870 or 4870x2 or 4870 x2
and the stuff in the video bios wasn't matching before, i don't know about now. -
-
both runs high -
-
but try that with 3dmark06 and you will get completely different scores for 2.0 and 3.0. -
Wondering if I should switch to your drivers and give it a shot. Maybe tomorrow.
