On the plus side my W90 is certainly getting the scenic tour at the hands of UPS (And they call this expedited service?)

Seeing as they're out of stock again, I'd just like to remind everybody that my buddy DramaFoYoMama is selling a W90 in the NBR Marketplace.

    Jus sayin...

    Hey, Asus doesn't have a BIOS download for the W90Vp, but they DO have one for the W90V;

    http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

Could this work, it says it's version 421.

That says first release and by the date of it looks older then dirt, so i wouldnt even mess with it TBH . His machine seems to be fine from what i have read, so i would just leave well enough alone for now till maybe something newer comes along .

I was wondering more along the lines of if it was similar to the BIOS people have seen in the newest "batch" of W-90's.

Here is a post from Paradyne i found about his bios date etc

    paradyne64
ASUS BIOS Version 0502 Date 02/25/09
    EC Firmware WNB-0504

    madmechs version
    Asus BIOS: 0404
    Build Date: 12/30/08
    EC Firmware Version: WNB_0504
both w90's seem to be working fine, but still need the numbers off the first batch of w90's.

Might want to see what Drama's has on it to compare

I would run a high and very high run and maybe a run with everything set to high but shaders set to very high as well . This is how i test my rig.

X:/crysis/bin64 and 32 folder its a batch file it will say benchmark GPU .

John likes to use a program as well to run the bench as it lets you change settings on the fly without having to go into the game itself . Still these results should be fairly accurate either way .

Running the very high tests now.

Ran all high twice. Will post results in a bit.

Simon Pegg, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz are AWESOME.

Edit:... will need to re-run tests. Some problems came up.

    I'm running it at 1920 x 1080, isn't that the W90vp's resolution?

Ran the first series of tests on the wrong resolution. :p Was wondering my scores were that high. lol

Doing two all high and two high. Will be going for a bit, will continue tests when back.

    16:9 widescreen like HD TV's
It works well actually with a high res screen because many console ports are 16:9 and all your movie material is.

In a lower resolution I think I would prefer 16:10 because you need all the vert pixels you can get, but for a 1920x1080 and up 16:9 is perfect, and its what I use at home (37" HD LCD for my desktop)

You will really appreciate it when watching widescreen movies or HD TV channels. Plus for games you get a little boost in performance over 1920x1200 with a better looking wider aspect.

Ive just been sitting idly by while people get it together with benches etc before i make the call. Good to see ya again btw .

Im tempted too and its time to put my G50V on sale, if somebody buys it I am upgrading.

Though my money is on the W90Vp-A1 as it comes with the better cpu & hard drive, blueray and all that stuff. More for your money IMO.

The CPU & Dual HDD's are very important to me, but I would gladly give up the blueray for a cheaper price, but hey with a nearly 19" screen in full true 1080p I may just have to get a few BR disks for the heck of it.

I may take that route as well, its just a tough call TBH(xoticpc=return if not happy while Newegg+ no return = bummer) . Blu ray would be a nice to have as i have quite a few laying around , the extra 320 gigs wouldnt hurt either, but the 2.0ghz quad is whats holding me back and while you can overclock it , im not sure to what degree and it would be a few months before i toss in a Qx9300 so it may be another waiting game till someone gets one and starts throwing around some numbers and so the cycle continues .

I saw some good prices on the Q9100 but the QX9300 is still too much for what its worth.

Id imagine you can get a pretty good overclock on the lower models unless you get a lemon.

Im looking forward to the ability to do more video rendering so even @ 2ghz quad is going to do me more justice than a 2.8ghz dual.

the qx9300 es q samples we're 450.00, before they got real popular. and they over clock pretty well for a mobile chip....

but no one seems to have the exact id string or what it should really be. whether the cards should read 4870 or 4870x2 or 4870 x2
and the stuff in the video bios wasn't matching before, i don't know about now.

yep, that would be correct. although i dont think it matters much since i tried both ways and the scores we're identical.

but try that with 3dmark06 and you will get completely different scores for 2.0 and 3.0.
