for those not following the other thread very hardcore due to the post explosion, enjoy this pron

That finish appears matte. That would be awesome. I'm so sick of the piano finish, finger print magnets.
-
Ah, and I was trying so hard to stay away from 17" laptops.
-
Okay, seriously, I hate that I have to wait for my taxes to be done before I can order this svelte beast. I nearly came out of my skin when I left work yesterday after seeing engadget's post. I don't know the last time I was this excited about doing my taxes!
The only thing I could imagine that would be bad about this system is that the keys appear to only be ringed by light and not illuminating the symbols on the keys. I bought a backlit keyboard like that way back when and I never turn the backlight on anymore since all you see is the keyboard outline. I just hope that it's not the production keyboard in the photos. -
^^ on the G51's keyboard, of which I assume the G73's keyboard is similar, the keys themselves are also backlit.
-
the viewing angle seems relatively good based on the shots seen...
-
I don't think anyone has linked this yet . It is pretty good video that discussed some of the heat features and shows a brief clip of the bottom of the laptop which looks smooth.

PCPerspective vid sucked.
-
Glad to see, from the press shots in the ASUS presentation, that the keyboard will be fully backlit instead of just ringed like on their display unit.
-
I'm pretty sure that it was just hard to see the lights in the brightly lit convention center...cuz I think those are the same unit.
-
Im all excited about getting this thing, but I have to say , to me it looks like a giant black laptop from 1990-1993, Im not bashing it at all, its freakin awsome, but I remember the laptops back then with the rear extending beyond the screen bottom like this one.
I cant freakin wait!!! -
dammit, add me to the list as of today mine's been ordered
tho i'm still happy with my 51vx this will make a great upgrade! can't wait! -

I'm in shock. Asus does a proper reiteration of the classic 17" gaming chassis. 1080p screen, Dual CPU/GPU cooling, Blu-Ray, 8GB (!) of DDR3 RAM, the now-standard i7 720, RAID 500GB 7200rpm HDDs, and of course the big boon, the unexepectedly soon GDDR5 5870. It's sleek, sexy even, and to top it all off, is only $1645 on XoticPC?
This is the king of gaming notebooks, far as I'm concerned. -
$1645 how can it be so cheap?
Only question is how do they expect us to wait a freakin month for this, I've been erect ever since i saw the first picture -

For now, this info is also posted to the lead post of this thread.
ENJOY!
-
So far the design looks really great. But i really hope the screen is not some cheap chinese company. But so far this machine is so much cheaper than the W90. When this does go SLI it will be very expensive but no one is going to buy it due to this economy. The W90 failed in sales but not in performance.
-
Ok I am sold officially for the G73JH.
I will do anything in my power to obtain it! Perhaps even become the first G73JH user like I was the first G51J user ever
But while it does come out... i will be trying to fix the BSOD and sell this laptop.
So long my dea G51J, you were good to me despite the issues. I will miss you (Well, when I get the G73Jh I think I will forget about it anyways).
The design looks amazing! I love the matte finish and possible all ruberized surface! I hate the fingerprint magnet of these new notebooks
And as for screen, I doubt it is that much better. Due to it being a 17inch lappy, it probably has better viewing angles but I don't expect that much -
-
Rubberized....I was wondering about that too. Kinda has that look.
This time tomorrow I will also be a proud owner , well in theory (preorder) -

Unlike the W90, the G73JH comes equipped with a THD 1080P LED backlit LCD.

My mistake i meant to say crossfire, well i am very excited about ATI finally getting up on their and putting Nvidia to shame. Nvidia is starting to bother in terms of the consumer graphic cards, they really are going to loose a lot of customers if they continue with the rebranding and badges of the same old graphic cards from like 4 years ago.
-
If anyone has not heard / understood Mobility Radeon HD5870 will be with 800 processors, not as a desktop version of 1600 processors !
Mobility Radeon HD5870 = Desktop HD5770
Power consumption it will be arround ~70/80W.
-
As much as I like the looks of this new system, probably not gonna jump.....just cant make a good case for dumping what I have for this. I dont see it increasing my current performance at all. -
I am just as excited about my pre-order now as I was a week ago, and that's good news. I knew the new Ati chip wouldn't disappoint! Now the waiting... the painful, agonizing waiting...
