Well I based my answer off of Gentech's site where they posted the pics of it. Could be they used the g72 since the video is of that unit.

I personally like gentech's website, though it feels more like a warehouse type... seems something like John Madden selling for Rent-A-Center or something.. but I still like it personally.

But the reason I believe they did was due to the G51J. They discontinued that model after just 3 months of production due to issues. Asus has long known they have hotter than average laptops, and from what striker has written, they are expected to have redesigned the thermal management for this machine to emphasize the cooling needed specifically on the GPU to run it at maximum power and efficiency without having to worry about throttling issues as the AW M17x is troubled with.

This is how I am drawing my conclusions. Also, the 8600GT was a troubled card, again, because it didnt have specific cooling, it melted itself away.

I have my fingers crossed on all of this. This is what I have gathered in the past 2 or 3 weeks of reading over these forums sense I have joined them.

While they may have stopped that model after just 3 months, the REAL test is how they treated the people who, during that 3 months bought it....did those consumers get their money back ? Or get compensated somehow....

Its one thing to stop selling a POS, its totally different to compensate those who bought your POS.

True, alot of times getting there money back depends on the reseller and there policies. I am getting a 100% refund for my G51J from newegg.com.

While I woould tend to agree, but in this case the manufacturer should have stepped in and said carte blanche refunds because we screwed up. It shouldent matter on the reseller at this point...Yea, you could say I still distrust ASUS

Newegg is known to be extremely strict on refunds for laptop purchases. How exactly did you get a 100% refund from newegg if you don't mind me asking?

ZipZoom is charging me a 15% restocking fee, and they wouldn't give in at all on it. I'll just have to suck it up though. Not worth being stuck with a BSOD'er.

True, but I'd prefer not to use such vernaculars :p

Most online resellers/retailers will charge a restocking fee and I believe it's the norm nowadays. This is why I find it a bit odd for Newegg to offer a 100% full refund, especially when their refund policy states "non-refundable, only for exchange". I think this would be good info to share for future reference :)

Yes, agreed David, the only time I have personally seen 100% refund from NewEgg, is when the product was mistakenly mis-advertised. Though their policy seems written in stone, I think NewEgg does try to handle these on a case-by-case basis.

    Looks fantastic!
    Baby got back. :D
A little thick in the rear but with a beefed up dual fan cooling system it's a good compromise.
I think I found my next laptop.
So far so good, looks amazing and performance should match.
The link says it gets 3DMARK score of P 7260.
How does that compare with other single GPU laptops?
Sorry little ignorant when it comes to benchmarks

Pretty darn good for a single GPU, and lets not forget, this will be a DX11 card. The thermal design, and improved styling over the G72Gx, it's sure to be a WINNER!

Also, I predict we will smash those marks in no time , once we get our hands on this notebook.

I AM SOOOO STOKED HERE.... and still trying to figure out what to do with myself!!!

Also, DX11 is going to be the most hotly supported versions ever! HIGHLY support in the community, expect all the new games to be heading in this direction, and FAST! For some quick info, watch some of the vendor 'DX11' vids on YouTube.
