    Hey EB

I expected that the HDMI port on my laptop would be an HDMI OUT, I had a look at the manual that came with my laptop and searched for information online about the 9500M GS but didn't find anything that confirmed it for me.
I guess I could just go to a store with the 225MS monitor with my laptop and a Bluray movie and see if I could try it out.

It's Vista Home Premium 32, everything is out of the box and all I did was just add the ExpressCard. :)

I disabled SmartLogon and the problem hasn't happened in about 24 hours, so now the question is whether the program is at fault or does it have to do with the program trying to turn on the camera while the computer is still coming out of sleep.
Both the driver and the program are the latest versions.
Does anybody know what changes were made in the last release of SmartLogon? Maybe a downgrade would help...

No because the BIOS doesn't support boot from ExpressCard.

Anybody here tried dual boot (Vista and XP)? I really need some assistance here because some of my application doesn't work in Vista and i wanted to have an XP in other partition without losing the Vista OS.

i've been having a lot of problems lately.
I think it's vista but i'm not sure. Common programs like mozilla and itunes seem to crash all the freaking time. Vista won't end any of the processes that freeze when i tell it to in task manager. I'll hit end process and it'll either do nothing at all or tell me access denied. You don't have sufficient rights to do end this process.
But my account is an administrator account. I'm sure of it. Whenever i run spybot and try to immunize, it says i don't have access either? What gives?
My computer seems to also get slowed down really easily. It was blazing before but now anytime i'm downloading something, videos i'm playing will skip or the audio isn't constant. It's like there's too much HD activity.

Should i do a fresh install of vista or should i just go back to xp. I love the laptop itself, not liking vista so much

Try these to speed up your notebook and make it more stable....

Delete Norton if you haven't already
    Install SP1
Clean up and defrag your hard drive
    scan for viruses/spyware
    minimize your startup programs

I had to uninstall sp 1 on my m50, becuase it made my touchpad and my external mouse useless. When I would unistall the driver for the touchpad, it wouldn't let me reinstall it, saying I didn't have the harware.

OK, I'm giving Vista another shot. Here's the list of drivers included on my drivers CD. I don't want to install them all of course, so my question is, which drivers do I need from this list to get full functionality from all of the hardware on my M50Sv?

Can you please just copy and past the ones that I need in your reply.

    Thanks!

Sorry if this has already been posted, can't find it anywhere...I am looking for the fingerprint reader driver for XP...does one exist?

Also, is there any utility similar to the Asus auto-logon that can use the webcam to log you onto your windows XP acct?

    Thanks

I'm new to webcams and just now started messing with the built-in on my m50sv. When I use capture video with either LifeFrame or Nero Vision, there is a delay (a second or two) between what I shoot and when it appears on screen. The audio therefore is way off from the lip movement. Can someone point me to what I might be doing wrong? I doubt/hope this isn't normal !

OK, I think I have everything together for my Vista install, but I have two drivers here that I have no idea what they're for. I called Asus tech support, and they also had no idea what they're for! lol

Does anybody here know what these two, or any one of them is for?

    Do I need them?

Here are the two folder names on my driver CD.

    1.) I386

    2.) LIB

Yes, those are the drivers that are needed.

    1. I386 - contains files for installing, repairing, modifying, updating and rebuilding windows.

    2. LIB - not sure exactly what this does, but I'm pretty sure all the .dll files are language tags...

Either way, I didn't install any of these and it's fine.

Ok guys loving my M50sv-A1, honestly couldn't ask for a better laptop for the price range and my needs. Another props to GenTechPC and crew for all their help and awesome service!

My question is i am having issues installing new video drivers for my Nvidia 9500M GS. I tried using the laptop2go driver's but i could not get them to unzip. I kept getting a "could not unzip as archive"

So i decided to use the standard nvidia drivers and used the modified inf file from laptop2go. It would atleast let me get to the install screen but when it when to install, it would say installing drivers and then say complete but never install anything. I would restart the latop and no drivers, the system would be running of the basic vga drivers.

Any help on how to update drivers or to get aroun the problems i am having would be great.

Were you using setup.exe from the driver folder? If so, try the Have Disk method (there is a guide on laptopvideo2go). If you were using the latter, try the first. Sometimes one works, sometimes the other.

Edit, I just see you were not using the laptopvideo2go drivers. Then I'm not sure it'll work.

Try downloading the ZIP file again, it's probably a corrupted download. Otherwise, download another version of driver.

The two folders is not the drivers, it's just the automated commands for driver installation when using the Asus recovery DVD.

What is happening when i download the laptop2go zip file for the drivers and it uses its self-extract program i get an error that says cant extract as a archive. Can't figure away around or a way to work.

I was using the modified inf on the OEM nvidia drivers, not the laptop2go.

Still have the issue if anyone else has input.

Is it perhaps a permission problem? Where are you downloading the drivers? Try your My Documents folder, or the Desktop, to ensure there are no write-permission problems. You can also try starting the self-extractor with Admin rights.

Honestly, no there isn't. Asus didn't load very much "bloatware" on the laptop. It comes with a lot of programs from Asus and if you don't like them then you can delete them.

I didn't remove much, AOL software, free trial to Microsoft Office and that was about it.

    I need some help,

I cleanly installed windows XP professional on my lappy but I noticed that my mouse pad features dont work. I cant tap on MODE to turn it on. As a mouse in it self it works, but not as the Media center. Which driver do I need to install. I thought I installed them all.

    Help!

    Emporium,

Mine was pre-installed with vista 64 bit. When I popped in the driver CD it didnt let me open it cuz it says "its for Vista ,, blah blah" so I manually opened it. I then opened the folder "TOUCHPAD" and ran the setup. I restarted my computer and it didnt work still.

I uninstalled the driver that I got from pg. 77 of this thread and then re-installed from the CD to see if maybe it just needed a clean install but STILL nothing. What am I doing wrong? what should I do next?

Is there any guide as to how to do that? There was a package put up earlier in the thread, but as I haven't used Windows for a while, anything that doesn't have a setup.exe is a little tricky for me.

On page 77 of this thread, download the "Intel INF" file. It is a zipped file so you'll need the program Winzip to unzip the file ( www.winzip.com). Once the file is unzipped, there is a .exe which you can double click on to run the installation.

To everyone that owns this notebook. Have you had any trouble with the bluetooth after reinstalling Vista?

When I first got mine preloaded with Vista the bluetooth worked fine, but after I reinstalled Vista it was as if there were no bluetooth anywhere on the system. It wouldn't even show up in device manager. I reinstalled different drivers that the Asus tech provided me, and did all the trouble shooting both he and I could think of, but it was a no go. My only conclusion at this point, and that of the Asus tech was that the BT chip must have failed, and was no longer even seen by the system.

I have just returned it for a refund.

Just to let you know I was very satisfied for the most part with the Asus telephone tech support; very nice, patient, and intelligent guys there. This is tech support the way it used to be when tech support was good. I'll try one more notebook before I give up on Asus and try another brand.

Hi guys. Did anyone had problems with builtin microphone? The problem is: when I'm talking via Gtalk or skype my voice is not natural and not so loud. I compare with my previous one A6R where voice heard as clear and loud as if I'm talking by phone. I have vista sp1 and latest sound drivers from 02.06.08. I tried playing with microphone preferences but nothing helps.
