    Not a bad package.

I "grew up" with a Radeon HD 3200. Finished Crysis with it. Just barely.

Nah you get around 10-15 on low settings as far as I remember...

A friend of mine had the HD3200/HD3650 combo dual graphics for power saving, and he actually had the HD3650 turned off all the time.

He did play crysis like that until I played on his laptop and noticed the performance was wrong for his laptop, and that is when I found out.

I finished crysis on a 9500M GS, with the downclocking issue. Boy were the last levels a pain even on low settings... No wonder I am happy running it at 1920x1080 all medium at 30fps, compared to 20fps on 1280x720 and med/low settings...

I know what you mean. I still remember the day nVidia came to shook the world with it's Geforce Card.

Hell, I have fond memories of my ATi Rage 8MB video card. That was such a huge amount of video memory :D

HAHA Yeah I had one of those with my Commodore Vic 20. I remember spending an entire day typing in a basic game that was in the back of the manual then troubleshooting my typos for an hour or 2. Then I got to save the whole thing on a cassette tape that took about 20 minutes.

Yep well did that as well on my C64 and ZX spectrum, Now I'm feeling old even tough I'm just 34. At least by the end of the tapes there was turbo loaders that were loading the tapes quite a bit faster. I wonder how there was not more epileptic seizure back then with the color stripes flashing on the screen while loading.

If the CPU on 09 has what you need (im not sure), and if you dont mind the extra $$$ then just go for it. But also consider newegg version, with better warranty, better screen just with the normal 6cell and one less hdd, same CPU, and probably save the tax it will become cheaper than the 09.

I would say get that G51Vx instead of the RBBX09... though it doesn't mention if the screen is LED backlit or not. Screen quality is not determined by resolution... some low res screens may be superior to high res ones for a ton of different reasons.

CONGRAD! just very basic, uninstall all those unwanted programs you don't need on the laptop then install latest update where there are a bunch of them. Then download this freeware

    http://www.ccleaner.com/

clean out trash then clean out registry, this will take off all those broken links and registry values left over from the uninstalled and newly installed update and cosolidate your machine :D

Then go from there see how it runs then we will see what else can be done :D Just do the minimal stuff an let it stabilze.

    Hi, I'm new here.

I'm thinking of this laptop or it's bigger brother with 17" screen (nice, but I don't like the chassis at all, ugly)

    I had two questions..
1.) Dual Harddrives? (I saw it was answered yes, yay!
2.) Can the memory be upgraded? How much? DDR3?

Or, would it just be better to pay the extra and go for the 9cell? ( I hate waiting for delivery.)

Still, even the 9cell is DDR2 memory. I'd liek to upgrade that to possible 6gb or 8gm DDR3

    thanks.

    1) Dual HD yes,
    2) You can add memory, maximum is 8GB OF DDR 2 PC 6400 800mhz ram. Which will be 2 X 4 GB ram. No DDR 3
    3) 9 cell is nice, but it will stick out, depend on your need. But you get P870 withitso its up to u

hmm, okay, thanks howard. I'm trying to decide on which laptop to get. I will be playing mmogames and crysis, but for the most part, it will be used to watch tv on and DVD's. I was at best buy today and the sales guy (who didn't really know ANYTHIGN about computers, and it was obvious) stuck in a DVD so i could see the image. It was kinda grainy. Not at all like my desktop. I run a dell 24" monitor and a EVGA 8800 GTS 512mb g92 card with and intel 6850 cpu.

Maybe it was just a bad DVD. What's your experience with dvd? Good picture?

Also, off topic, but I was looking at the K-Will USB TV Tuner. any thoughts on that? it's cheap, just 30 bucks.

I'll be on the road, driving tuck, so I need a good laptop to use for entertainment.

What is the resolution on your desktop monitor? it'll look worse full screen on a 720p monitor because it has to scale up the picture.

I'm assuming your 24 inches is 1920 x 1080. Of course 1366 x 768 will look more grainy compare with 1080P screen and remember DVD is 480 only and we are pretty much spoiled by HD youtube, hulu, movie trailer, movie, TV, so DVD will look more grainy than you are used to. I have the g60 and have n problem getting beautiful image. You will just have to mentally prepare yourself that it's not a 1080p screen and its a darn stunning screen for what you pay for :D

I have it set at 1920x1200 right now. and on that setting, i can ALMOST play crysis at max settings

I guess I can't be picking, but i was just concerned with video quality watching TV or DVD's. It sounds like the games play just fine though from reading the reviews.

Also, i'm running XP on the desktop, so only seeing 3gb of the 4gb ram installed.

Ya, the weight doesn't matter. I might even get a stand for it and load on Co-Pilot GPS so I can have a big screen for the GPS instead of those small 4.3" ones. But Ya, I play games. I want to start Playing Fallen Earth. I played it in Beta and really Like it. it was kinda hard on this desktop though, so Hopefully it will play okay on the laptop.

Get a nice laptop cooler. ZALMAN 2000 is really good.
You can also add a good thermal paste to the GPU and CPU to lower temps but that might void the warranty.
I added IC7 thermal paste and it helped a lot but to add you have to remove a little yellow sticker that says "void if removed".
    That's pretty self explanatory.

Oh...the everlasting debate about HD space...and yea... supposed to be 320GB and it is 320 GB - windows 7 OS and other softare installed and after formatting, I won't go into detailed formula here, but the way manufacture measure it with how computer reads it are different, both parties are right but it does confuse the consumers. Just for sure, 283gb is right..u do have a 320gb HD but the way of measuring capacity and the space software taken up result in significantly less HD space for u :D but no, u didn't get cheated.

i wud also lik to add the g72gx 05.... a good comparison wud be really helpful.....

Which one from Newegg, the X1A or X3A? A couple of differences between both of those models and the Best Buy model is that they have a better screen resolution at 1920 x 1080 and Bluetooth. Plus don't forget they come with the better Asus warranty.

Some one returned it and now they are selling used.
If ever buying a "open box item" ask if it why it was returned. Could be a RMA.

Unless you are a power user 6 gigs is overkill for a everyday user. 4 gigs is more than enough for everything to run smooth.
G72 GX is nice but big

so has it been properly confirmed that the G60VX-RX05 runs cooler than the G51VX-RX05 or are results still inconclusive? wondering if its worth the extra $$ for the g60vx over a g51vx refurb :)

Anyone else having issues with the color on their display? I'm finding that orange/yellow/red seem too saturated. Maybe it's the drivers I'm currently using 186.62. I think I'll try a few others and see which one gives me the best color.

You need to calibrate your display, drivers don't make any difference.
