Your laptop at stock clock speeds will perform the similarly to the F3Sv reviewed in this thread, however it won't over clock as well due to the DDR2 memory.

And MHz stands for mega hertz, which is a measurement of the frequency of your card's components; more MHz = faster card.

is it true that the ASUS F3Sv (8600m GS) with 3gb of system memory performs better than the ASUS G1S(8600m GT) with 2gb of system memory? Someone was saying that Ken Lee from GenTechPc proved this..

    please reply

Ah brilliant. Would this still apply if i had an F3Sv w/T7300 - 2Ghz 800Mhz FSB instead of the T7500 2.2Ghz tested in this review?

and will the ITM w/1GB make things faster at booting up? or slower, but make games run faster?

    Thanks

The processor difference shouldn't matter much in most games, in some CPU heavy games like Supreme Commander you'll notice a difference, but the extra mem will still help out regardless of your processor.

And the ITM will (theoretically) make boot up and app loading times faster, but it will not affect in game performance, it may even make in game performance slower.

None of these laptops currently have the ability to upgrade the GPU... If that were the case, why would anyone buy a C90s?

none of those have the 8600M GT. However the F3Sv has the 8600M GS. In addition, the F3Sv's GPU at stock is so severely underclocked, it performs at 8400M GT levels.

The 8400M GT and the 8600M GS are almost the same cards even on nvidia's official GS speeds anyway. The 8400M GT is the desktop 8500GT and the 8600M GS is a bit overclocked

    Yes I can.
On Crysis, shader clock is what slows down the frame rate, if you set it's to low you will get around 30fps, if you want higher frame rate you will need to use riva tuner 2.5 to overclock the shader.

hey guys just wondering, did you test crysis on DX10 or DX9? if its in dx9, its a real shame the develepors didnt put any time into Optimising if for people with decent computors such as the g1s, which i must say is a beast for the price you can buy it for. i can play bioshock on 1280x800 with everything on MAX and dx10 shaders on and it plays around 25-50 fps with the 163.44 drivers (no overclock), i dont see why crysis would be SO MUCH different

    chearz guys, Pans

    the 8600M GT is a DX10 card. Why would u run a DX10 game with a DX10 card in DX9?

Because it performs better in DX9 and allows you to turn the settings up higher, so it looks better as well.

So you get like a fps increase with 3GB ram, i was going to upgrade my G1S to to 3GB ram but people said you don't get an fps boost with it so i didn't do it...

How much is the fps increase?
Can you test it in Crysis dx9 mode?
    2GB ram vs. 3GB ram
(With same settings of course ^^)

    Thanks :)

I also have a G1S-A1 (no-overclock). But when it is under load, it runs at at least 90+ degree. Even when it is not under load, the core temperature is still at least 76 degree. Why is mine running so hot while yours is at about 69 degree (from I have seen)???? Thanks in advance.

90+ is a little bit high on G1S, my temperature of 69* was running at stock drivers no overclock, old BIOS I think it was 202, so drivers and BIOS shouldn't be the problem on yours.

Just like CPU, not all GPU performs exactly the same, there is always one or two GPU out of 100 runs hotter, if you experience system crash when play games then I suggest you RMA it.

Yes I do get fps increase with 3GB RAM with the settings I tested.

Sometimes you don't get fps increase with more RAM maybe is because the video settings in the game has reach GPU's limit.

One example, C90S's 8600M GT 512MB DDR2 and GDDR3 both can get 4700 overclocked on 3DMark06 at 1280X1024, but that's the highest 8600M GT can go even the GDDR3 has faster video RAM.

Hmm? The 8600M-GT (overclocked) can break 5000 at 1280x1024 with GDDR3.

Nope, I tested on C90S and it can only go up to 4700 at 1280X1024 with GDDR3, the 512MB DDR2 can only reach 4700 with BIOS level overclocking.

Perhaps it's a voltage problem on the C90s then? Because I've seen confirmed 5000+ scores on the 8600M-GT at 1280x1024. What's the max OC you've gotten on the GDDR3 card in the C90s?

could be the VGA BIOS, I can only get 4221 with G1S using driver level overclocking, 4700 on both C90S GDDR3 and DDR2 must be done by modify VGA BIOS.
