And you just got screwed by asus by buying the ddr2 8600m :D
We said no, because historically, none of the top enthusiast range fits a 15.4".

Screwed? I payed $1600 for my c90. No other laptop will give you this amazing performance for that price.

Possibly, they will of course increase the price though. So like I said the early c90 owners probably will be in the hole 100 or 150. Its not like they will keep the price the same.

These last volley of responses, case and point :D

Atleast we'll get the 9600M or something better, maybe not the 8800M.

That's only the core, you have to add the memory and the card, wich puts you back to 30-35W, or even 40. And the NB8E-SE is the 8700M GT

it doesn really matter later on there will be a better card out and then people who bought the c90 with the gddr3 card will also be "screwed". im not jumping on the new card like i said ill probably need a year before i save up to jump to a faster card (hoping for a 9600gt 512m gddr3 card ...)

But the 8800M (if available) won't be under the $400 mark, while the GDDR3 8600M GT will be like $30-50 more than the DDR2 one

Yeah lol, but we have to say it's new just other versions of the same card =/.

I'm wondering if it will get too hot with an overclock to 550-600mhz on the core

Any news about the ATI drivers they have ont their web site? would they have an ATI card too? (if that is possible) And would they have a 512 meg version of the gpu DDR3? Sorry to ask you many question Ken but since you are the one who gave us lot of updates I guess you may have the answer :D

Now I understand that JCMS basically answered the first part of that question. I would still like to know about the second part. Any hopes for a core exchange? Or am I just dreaming?

if they can keep this apparent "8800gs" or whatever you want to call it at 22watts, you could have the first quad SLI laptop, im sure they could stick two on one card...one card with two cores would consume less than a 7950gtx(only by one watt) but i think that would be an interesting concept.

Asus will sell the new card with notebook only at the first few shipments, once they have enough shipment coming we will be able to sell card separately, you don't need another 8600GT since you already have one :D , I would wait for something different.

I think he's wondering if you'll offer an exchange system. (i.e, you re-take the DDR2 and give him a GDDR3 one, for the price difference)

Yea, the 9600M, i hope it is out soon with DX10.1. DX10 was, a bit unmatured, but tat was due to new cards anyway, i hope m$ dun spoil the 9 series hardware coz they refreshed the requirements.

DX 10.1 is a minor improvement. Its not like DX10.1 will solve the DX10 issues which aren't issues at all because the problem are just drivers.

From what i read, Dx10.1 and Dx10 aren't compatible, means the current dx10 might not be able to fully utilize dx10.1 or worst, not at all.

DX10.1 features are the new sound system (the one used in the X360) and mandatory 4xAA.

DX10.1 will be used for X360 ports

If it can run MOH at that res with no hiccups, thats pretty impressive. Definitely was not enjoyable at that res on my c90.

Just finished my deliberations on a new laptop. Went with the c90 with 8600 GDDR3 from GenTech.

It'll be E6700, 2GB Corsair, 7200RPM build when it's done. I'll beat the hell out of it and let you guys know the results once I complete the build.

Any ideas for the best place to find XP x64 drivers? Vista x64?

No it ran great at 1280 x 1020 and pretty good at 1400x 900 but it had stuttering at 1680 x 1050, not terrible but not great, it wasn't enjoyable at that res. Otherwise on the lower resolutions it ran on max settings fine.

Interesting...wonder what better drivers would do? How does it do if you tweak down the vid settings for the stuff that isn't really noticeable, at 1680x1050 or is that what you did? curious.

hey quick question guys...im new here...but whomever at the top of this page said they were gettin an 8600m gt gddr3...how long was the ESD on that...cuz im thinkin about gettin a c90...and i realllllly want gddr3 in that puppy.

but im also stuck on gettin either the c90 or an np2090 with sager....because of
funding issues...although i would definitely cough up the extra 300 bucks for a c90 with gddr3....so when are is your ESD for that gddr3 asus!?

    A little impatient aren't we?

I'll wait untill a better card comes out, I'm still iffy on that subject though. Since we have no idea of what talks there are of a better card, the GDDR3 might just be "the better card"....

There will probably be no better card because all cards that are better than the 8600M GT GDDR3 are already MXMIII.
Someone said the 8700M could come as MXMII but it is in fact more likely an overclocked 8600M GT GDDR3 so you can get an 8700M yourself ;-)

Well.... Damn. I'll just go back and confirm something then.

Ken, he is correct in what I was asking. Only, something along the lines of I buy the GDDR3 and once that gets to me, I send back the DDR2 (isn't it GDDR2?) and I get a refunded price set by GenTech for a used DDR2. I know these boards are recyclable, if not by GenTech, by someone else like Asus. Either way, just a friendly inquiry.

I'm sure I could find a place here for that, but I would get pennies for a used GPU, this country is very very poor.
