I just got my N53SV, i5 2410m, full hd. I have replaces the hdd with my SSD and done a clean windows install.

surprisingly many drivers weren't found, but i downloaded them from the website to a flashdrive from my other computer. I have some problems:
1: it cant find a driver for a controller for PCI.
2: when i wanna install the driver for the intel graphicard it says my system doesn't meet the requiemets.
I did install the chipset driver from the website. And also i already have installed the LAN port driver, usb 3 driver, wlan driver. The nvidia wont install cause it want the intel one to be installed first,
Also i think that the nvidia is sitting on the pci controller that doesnt work, but im not sure at that. Anyway the main problem is that i cant install the intel driver, and that the pci controller isnt reconised even the chipset driver is installed, and yes i rebooted the pc after every driver install.

Install "Debugging tools from windows" (in the sdk)
    Open windbg
Set the symbol path the the microsoft server: SRV*c:\websymbols* http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols
Copy the c:\windows\minidump files to the desktop
Open the crash dump (from the file menu)
    run !analyze -v

Tell us what the probable causing driver is.

Alternatively, load the minidump files to your hotmail skydrive, and point us to it.

You might need driver verifier. (verifier at command prompt)

To answer on of these: I bought and installed a Vertex 3 MI 240GB. Upgraded the firmware to 2.11 before installation. No issues so far.

I have a Asus N53SN. Does anyone know where to locate Power2Go setup files on the recovery dvds? How to extract them also. I have a fresh install of Win 7 x64 and Power2Go isn´t on Asus support CD...

    Best Regards xSWEDEx

    Hi again,

It seems like every time I type text with the A53SV, it skips some letters. I type relatively fast but it's the first time I experience that. It skips a letter almost every second word. Anyone else experienced that? Do I just need to get use to the keyboard sensitivity? For those who replaced the keyboard with the chicklet one on Ebay, is it better?

Also, I posted some questions regarding the electrical leakage 2 days ago in this thread but haven't received a reply yet. I'd appreciate if anyone with knowledge/experience could look into them.

    Thank you very much :)

Have N53SN with the blue USB 3.0 port. Bought a WD Passport USB 3.0 external drive. However there're problem when using it in the USB3 port. Speed-wise it's only ~25MB/s copying files from WD to internal SSD drive. And then very often, the drive would be disconnected/disappeared from system, even when in the midst of copying files. I checked and have both Fresco Logic USB3 driver and WD driver installed. What else could be the problem?

    Thanks.

    1) Anybody got 32 GB in this.
    Memory up to 32GB for Apple iMac 2011 Thunderbolt equipped models ? 21.5? and 27? 2.5GHz, 2.7GHz, 2.8GHz, 3.1GHz, 3.4GHz Models DDR3 PC3-10600 1333MHz
    or samsung?

    2) It looks like the n53jv had a spare, but empty mini pci express slot. http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...-but-i-got-bored-disassembly.html#post7062522

Does the n53sv/n have this too. Anybody daring to use it? Requires some socket acquisition and soldering...

    3) I have to turn off sonic master to get the best sound. Anybody tried X-fi?

    Hi all,

After much debating, and comparison of specs, I've decided to go for an N53 over a Dell XPS 15. I feel that I'd be getting much better value for money.

I walked in to a London Drugs here in Vancouver to discover that they are now carrying Asus laptops, specifically the N53SN-XR2.

    i7 2630 QM
    15.6" display (1366x768)
    4GB RAM
    750GB 7200 rpm HD
    GT 550M 2GB VRAM
    DVD Combo drive (no Blu-Ray)
4x USB ports (though this doesn't mesh with what I've seen elsewhere)
Salesman said the 2 year warranty, 1 year accidental damage still applied

    All for $999.98!

I thought I'd bring this up to anyone in Canada who would like to go look at/poke/prod/play with a display model for themselves.

Of course, it doesn't make my decision any easier, as I'm looking at the N53 SV A2 from NCIX.

This one is listed as having the FHD screen, 6GB of RAM, and a BD combo drive, for only $100 more ($1,099.99). However, it has a GT 540M with 1GB of RAM.

I've done quite a lot of reading around these forums today (read this thread all the way through), and it seems to me that the FHD screen on the SV-A2 from NCIX is more desirable than that on the SN-XR2 from London Drugs, and that there really isn't much difference between the 2GB and 1GB RAM on the cards, as explained in this excellent post.

So, personally, I think it looks like I'll likely be pulling the trigger on the SV-A2, unless the 550M is a much better card, and the 1366x768 screen is livable?

Go for the FHD screen...there is not much difference between 550 and 540 that would justify getting lower rez monitor considering how well 540 OC's quiet well... and how usefull FHD monitor is on a laptop.

Do you have proper USB 3.0 cable and maybe you also need additional power supply for your drive?

I did use the cable that came with the WD drive. It's labeled a USB 3.0 cable. Strange thing is that when I plug the drive into a USB2 port )and gotten ~30MB/s speed), Win 7 would suggest me to plug it into a USB3 port such that it can operate faster. And when I plug into the USB3 port, this msg doesn't come up thus seems that Win 7 knows it's a USB3 drive with a USB3 cable on a USB3 port. Just that the transfer speed is not there. Make any sense?

For anybody considering buying the N53SN equipped with the nvidia GT550M and wanting to run Autodesk programs - specifically Autodesk 3ds Studio Max (I am running a fully registered Max 2012) be aware that you will encounter many driver crashes.

I have the latest Asus bios, latest intel VGA drivers, latest nvidia drivers and windows 7 is up to date.

For a full explanation look at this thread :

    http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=196296&st=0

The most worrying thing is nvidia is not responding at all to our many requests for help or feedback. Nvidia seem to reply quickly when someone has a problem with a game - but absolute silence on this issue. This is very worrying !

So a word of warning if you are thinking of using the N53SN for working on Autodesk 3ds Max - don't bother. The Asus N53SN cannot run Autodesk 3ds Max 2012 without nvidia driver crashes.

I'll try and contact Asus directly now. As my only option (due to nvidia ignoring this issue) is to try and return my Asus N53SN as it does not work correctly.

Geforce is a consumer series of NVIDIA cards and hence they provide support for gaming issues.

For Autodesk products the professional line of NVIDIA cards is recommended and supported - Quadro series.

Drivers are different for these. Quadro are not good at gaming but provide much improved viewport handling in professional 3d applications. In the past there was a way to turn Geforce card into Quadro and vice versa by reflashing its BIOS. Don't know how it is with the latest products from NVIDIA.

That is correct, nvidia would prefer you to use Quadro products. Quadro cards have dedicated drivers optimised and certified for specific applications.

But. I have been using Autodesk 3ds max for over 10 years (3d work for over 20 years), and never used a Quadro. I have spoken with many other 3d pros and some do, some don't.

For a first class experience you can't beat a Quadro, at a cost.

But the normal consumer cards SHOULD function with stability.

In most cases the consumer products are identical hardware designs (occasionaly with faster specs). The Quadro cards are not built by 3rd party vendors but only by nvidia and are built to handle constant high-load gpu operation without over heating. If you need to hit them hard, have a higher build quality and need them to handle long periods of hard work a Quadro is the better choice.

The issue here is with a driver problem. I am happy to say we got a reply from nvidia who are now looking into this issue. Fingers crossed they can find a solution quickly.

Answered another dozen of times here and in optimus forums.
In nvidia panel there is a profile page where you can select auto or manual selection of the gpu.

Hi, can somebody here help me please. Ive recently had a couple of problems whilst playing games. Ive tried to use the graphics processor, cleaned up alot of files, used ccleaner to no avail. The problem I experience is that during an intense part of the game where i guess the game would need to render, for example in Fifa whenever my player recieves a ball or in F3AR whenever i make sudden turns or moves out of buildings, the games lags really badly. Any help? The only thing different with my pc is that my friend plugged in my usb 2.0 drive in the usb 3 port. Could it be this? Thanks in advance

Wow, it seems you are beyond help.
But: Make sure there is no serious hdd access when the lag happens. If this is the case, get more memory. Try running without usb drive. It shouln't matter if there is no serious data access on it.
