You will never hear bleeps from any of the asus models. I dont even think the bios support audible test bleeps. Take out any of the components (xept the keyboard) and you will not hear a bleep

    Hello All...

I probably missed it 'cause I'm not exceptionally bright, but...
Does anybody have an assembly guide for the A8J series, specifically the A8JS? I'm am seriously considering replacing the AUO LCD with an LG-Phillips and so need to disassembly the screen/lid.

    Thanks!

    JWB

    Hello Eddie!

Thanks for the advice... The LG panel that I'm looking at has the same dimensions and resolution(WXGA+). From what I can tell, it also has the same edge connector and inverter connector as the AUO panel currently installed in my A8JS.

PS: Great job with the videos! Also, can you recommend a place to purchase the BT Module for my A8JS?

All that is identical in all recent displays. The only thing different is resolution for which you need the correct cable. Keep the resolution the same and you can keep the same cable and possibly inverter

Hi, everyone!, I'm just thinking to buy an ASUS F3Tc, this is an AMD Turion64 x2 TL-52 with go7300 (128MB VRAM). What do you think does it good enough to play NFS, Counter Strike or something like this...

Does anyone have a (dis)assembly guide for the S5N?

I want to change the wireless network adapter (mini-PCI). I think it's under the keyboard (according to a diagram from ASUS tech support), but I'm not sure how to remove it - there are 3 small clips at the top edge of the keyboard (above F2, F9 and Prt Scr keys) but do I need to undo any screws first?

    Any help much appreciated, thanks.

the s5n like the m5n and z33 is the hardest model to take appart and put back together. it is not under the keyboard. it is beneath the mainboard. even my own tech who takes these notebooks appart every single day does not want to deal with it. i would recommend you seek profesional help for this task. if you card is broken its one thing if you are looking to replace it with atheros just forget about it.

whAT about w2v? it is an old model. doing videos and stuff costs me many hours of labor. w2v hardly warrants a video
i already made w3j video. doing a video on how to remove and upgrade the cpu is like doing a video on how to drive. it is very straight forward. it is very easy and it is also available in a pdf file if you ask your dealer.

    2Geared2play.com: concerning W2V

Well, I do not necessarily need a video.
Maybe you could tell me where to get a manual? (Except from local dealer. I write from Moscow, and ASUS support is extremely lazy and user-offensive :)
To be precise I need to repair a lid it's broken near the joint.

these lids simply separate down the seam. you would have to first remove the screws on the inside frame (the inside of the screen shell). after yoi remove all the screws inside the screen fram (check behind the rubber stoppers) you can proceed to part the frame. there is no precise method. just part the screen and do it all the way around. try not to break the plastic clipps

open the compartment on the bottom. the ram ports are right next (above) each other. to remove or install a module. spread open the metal clips on the sides, pull up on the module then pull out @ 45%
    same way out and in.
    Adding u1f, s6f and w5fe videos shortly

Unfortunately, the hard drive bay is not accessible on the S6 series like the U1, you have to take apart the whole notebook and I hear upgrading the hard drive on it is very difficult. Does anyone have a dissasembly guide on the S6? Thanks so much.

Eddie, if possible, can you upload the videos to another source(Like YouTube or Brightcove), I want to integrate this to another thread(the current ASUS models one) to reduce the sticky clutter in this forum. I'll leave this here for now until you get back to me.

    Thanks!

If there's a panel underneath the computer with a schematic of a chip near it, smth like a rectangle with tiny legs under it :) then you open that and the memory slot is underneath. Otherwise wait for someone who knows about opening the U5A.

Pls. note in notebooks the memory is inserted at an angle of 45 degrees, and then pushed down into place.

I see... well, just a short written explanation will do for me. I was able to disassemble (and assemble back) all my V1Jp, except for the part where the WiFi card is located. The upper case seems to be stuck to the lower case at the front of the laptop, and I couldn't find any screw or lock. I don't think it's glued, since all the rest uses screws, and I really didn't want to force things.

I would really appreciate if you could let me know how to open this final part.
    Thanks.

    not too sure
unless i have a video of it i really cant recall what needs to be done. if i were you i would contact asus and request a pdf guide. they get one for every model. we dont use them but asus does need them as their techs revolve like the earth.
