    WHAT!!!, u serious??
i still remember around this time last year, ALL the hype and speculations on the z70va, dam technology advances fast.
but, i think z70va is the most popular model out there, so maybe a guide on that will be useful, just a thought.

The .pdf assembly guide may still be avaliable, but that model, unfortunately, has been End of Line since then.

Ditto, the file for the w7j is just a movie of the laptop running benchmarks.

And also seems to be stretched because I thought the W7J was a widescreen laptop.

All the high quality videos (the avi's, not the wmv's) are some wierd resolution so it will look really really tall and therefore stretch any widescreen notebook taller and make them look kind of fat. You need to set the aspect ratio to 16:9 widescreen for them to look correct. If you are using media player classic, go to view->video frame->override aspect ratio->16:9 and the video will look normal. The wmv files don't have this problem.

No there's nothing wrong, just for me and maybe a few other people if you use Media Player Classic the resolution ends up as 720x540 instead of the 720x480 that it originally is. Windows Media Player doesn't have this problem.

Thanks again for the videos. These are probably the only videos on the net showing the newer Asus models. (man I wish laptoplogic would do a w7j review :p)

Can I have a8jm and z62j videos pretty pretty please with sugar on top?

Hey i am just getting the hang of this. In 24 hours i learned how to capture render and export. I am still getting the hang of recording right. As you can see sometimes the frames are out of focus. I learned to disable the autofocus. Right now i switched from sony vegas to adobe premier pro. How would you like me to reduce the file size without reducing the quality? I am always open to suggestions however i am still learning this stuff. I cant even to figure out hot to get the **** hdv quality video without it looking distorted. The camera is an hd3-hc3 capable of 1080i. The videos that i can capture now are only half quality. Next week i ll have the a8j and f3j

Did you read the manual Eddie? :p

    Just kidding :)

As for the file size, I'm sure Premiere has lots of functions that can do that, I've used Premiere before(like 2-3 years ago in HS), and we made commercials, It's interesting as I actually was advertising an ASUS motherboard, but the point is, a 9 minute commercial was reduced from a 3-4gb raw video file, to a 70mb video file.

I don't know much about video compression. However, a lot of people including me have just dragged the file from their camcorder onto their desktop and used Virtualdub or a similar program to encode into whatever codec they want. It's pretty simple if you know what to do.

Appreciate the videos...I'm downloading the W3J one currently. As far as video size, from what I understand, if you want high quality you pretty much have to deal with large file sizes.

Agree, i tried a few things with vegas and premier pro. Changing from avi to any other reduces the quality and the size. Tried using premier pro to capture hdv from the tape and it did save as mpeg in huge files however it all appears jagged. I dont know where to begin. If anyone has an hdv capable digicam please tell me what youre doing. It warks AWESOME when hooked up via componet or hdmi directly to my plasma. Looks like one of those nature shows in HD bit using ilink just doesnt make the same quality for some reason. :(

    Hello.
I know it's an old laptop but does anyone have an active link for a M5N /Z33disassemble guide? I would like to make some changes in my laptop and it would be very good to have such a document.
The links I've seen in the forum are no longer valid :(

Can you guys help me out?

Sry to bump an older thread but I noticed that the Z62J's gpu is cooled wtihout a fan, which is great. Just wondering if whoever did the videos could tell if the Z62j's fan was just as quiet as the Z62f's fan.

Ye just wait till i finally finish my rotating 360 degree film booth and start uploading disasembly guides for all models. The full size video is over a gig. The ones you are looking at are only half quality. The the smaller ones are 1/4 quality

I can understand the size but I'm sure it's killing your bandwidth. You should look at other encoding options to bring the sizes down more.

Any one know where I can get a couple of spare screws for a ASUS A8jm?

This will be the Second time I've dissasembled the Screen to tighten the pathetic loosening hinges and I would like to take advantage of the second hole that takes the same screws as the bezzle and hinges for extra screen tightness.

Surely someone who sees' alot of ASUS knows what Im talkin about knows where I could pick some up?

You can remove the screw from either the one of the compartments on the bottom or another laptop. I dont exactly sell spare screws. Why dont you contact your dealer?

the a8jx disassembly guide was helpful, but it wasn't 100% accurate in depicting the a8jm. (e.g. the webcam link from LCD-->chasis isn't easily accessible)
I can post pics of the disassembly if any one wants one. i completely disassembled my laptop to fix a short-circuit--the laptop wouldn't turn on b/c of it, and i was too impatient to send it in for warranty service or w/e.

We have spare fans for most models. We buy them for pennies on the dollar but rarely get to use them. With some work we can find an alternate fan and mod the z70va but this type of work and research just does not pay off. To answer you question yes but nothing that i have tried

If you ever think you have some fans that will cool the Z70V sufficiently (or even better than stock) and are quieter than stock, please post about them. I'd definitely buy a couple. I've already run through full disassembly of my Z70V, so it wouldn't be that difficult for me. Thanks, Eddie.

I have my nephews Evesham ASUS A6J Notebook PC Intel Core Duo Processor...... it has stopped working and will not boot up,

    When connecting to mains power........

    1. The battery indicator (orange) light comes on and goes out.
    2. The Power indicator (green) light comes on and goes out after 3 secs.
    3. The fan switches on and goes off straight as for power on.

Could this be a processor problem or power pack / battery problem?

Any suggestions / recommendations would most appreciated a lot of college work is on the hard drive………… :(

It sounds ike a memory problem. What you described typically happens when you have a bad module. if you have 2 sticks try one at a time in either slot. THis is not the thread to post this in. Start a new thread please
