    It must have been the optical bay the guy was talking about.
    Thanks :)

    While the bays are 6GB/s, optical is 1.5GB/s from what I remember.

    no doubt you mean 6Gb/s and 1.5Gb/s :D
    6GB/s would be scorching fast!!!
    I=150MB/s
    II=300MB/s
    III=600MB/s
    but you already knew that :thumbsup:

    I need to fix this, even if I can't verify it myself. It turns out that port in ODD bay is SATA II, while in HDD bay is SATA III.

    I've found finding information like this can be a problem. It makes sense to me the optical bay would be SATA II, just like eSATA. If it were SATA I it may limit a fast HDD and certainly a SSD that might be put in there. I have been told this by the owner of a G73, but even then he qualified it "Both internal drive bays are SATA III.....optical may be SATA II" lol.

    I'm thinking less about putting a HDD in there now anyway. USB III will be enough and I would sooner have integrated Blu-Ray than USB Blu-Ray.

    How hard is it to upgrade the wireless card on the G75? Does it require a disassembly like on the G55 where you have to overhaul the system?

    People, need an answer ASAP.
    How big is fault rate of G75? I heared bad stories about faulty laptop in couple days after buying. I am about to buy REFURBished Asus G75VW with 3D and 3610QM and 660M and hope it will live long time. Reason I chooe it it has iron egg on newegg so return bust be easier and so I hope seller will double check condition of lappy.

    Also, is it possible to set Nvidia PhysX to a CPU???? I know it doesnt have optimus because of 3D but what about detecting Intel GPU at all?Do you install drivers for intel HD 4000 and do you see 8ntel HD 4000 in PhysX Menu?

    ppreciate for quick reply. Want to know if it is possible to fix it by myself if laptop breaks.

    Do G75 owners suffer from the brightness issue where it automatically goes maximum 100% brightness whenever you fire up a specific game or program and sometimes even when logging off when you have it set at the brightness setting you are comfortable with and that could be 40%/50%/60% and so on and no matter what you do, the brightness setting is forced to 100% brightness that is so annoying and it hurts your eyes that you have to manually readjust with the FN+key.

    I'll give you a specific example, when runing WoW, before i fire it up, i have my brightness setting where it is comfortable for me which is 60%, as soon as i fire up WoW, the brightness setting goes to maximum 100% then i have to readjust the brightness setting back to 60%. Then if i have to alt+tab out of the game, the brightness goes back to 100% again then readjust via fn+key again then when i alt+tab back to game, the brightness setting goes back to 100% again. See the horror issue here?

    I have this issue on my G55 and I have a chance to get rid of my G55 for a G75 so that is why I'm asking if any of the G75 owners have this annoying issue.

    Thank You.

    hp, it's garbage.

    If you are into serious gaming and need a laptop, ASUS has the best cooling system.

    By the way, what driver is everyone using for their laptop, my connection keeps dropping.

    hey guys. I was wondering if anyone has a walkthough on how to get to the ram under the keyboard. I would like to try to put in a full 32gb of memory into this laptop but if that to much work i may just have to live with putting in 2 8gb sticks to max it out at 24gb.

    I've had this laptop since September and it's been pretty awesome. No power jack issues like my old G73, plays games like a boss. My only complaint is that subwoofer; sometimes it just doesn't work... :(

    After 5 months of ownership (G75VW, 14GB Ram, SSD + HDD), here are my conclusions:
    1. Great machine, fast, quiet, excellent screen.
    2. speakers not on par with the rest of the hardware. Decent but not good.
    3. Avoid the Intel N6235 network card. Gave me a lot of problems and various discussions on the net confirm that this is a widespread issue.
    4. Don't buy it from XoticPC. Really... just don't, unless you lead a charmed life and never need support.

    I'm trying to help a friend install an Intel 520 SSD to his new G75VW. I used macrium reflect to clone the 1TB HDD to the SSD. After that was done, we removed the original HDD and tried to boot to the SSD. The BIOS sees the SSD but the boot options are greyed out and the laptop just keeps booting right to the BIOS. I only cloned the OS partition and unchecked the rest. What did we do wrong? The SSD and the BIOS have the latest firmware.

    If I go into the BIOS under SATA configuration the SSD shows under Port0 yet I still cannot boot to it or even choose it by bringing up the boot menu with esc.

    Update, after owning the machine for a year and a half.
    The keyboard is almost useless now, the slightest touch near the trackpad causes keyboard to behave as if the control key is pressed.
    The HDMI output flickers when the machine is running on battery.
    Battery life is down to 50 minutes.
    Sound got even worse.
    The machine is still beautiful.

    Oh, and I had another great interaction with XoticPC. I bought the machine with 3 year global ASUS warranty. Asked XPC how to use the warranty as the machine is a lemon. Guess what? They replied (officially!) that I should first send them the machine to be "decustomized" - remove everything they've put in - then I can give it to ASUS otherwise the warranty is void (which I assume it is anyway, as the decustomizing certainly doesn't make the machine any newer or more intact...).

    I asked them why they were so happy to take my money for warranty that was useless. Still waiting for a reply.
    As for the message above, from the person who's had nothing but good experience: It's rare to find a company that 100% bad. Obviously XPC have some pleased customers. The thing is, there should be nothing *but* pleased customers. I don't think it's wise to buy at a shop where you have even a 5% chance of being let down so badly, as I have.

    Have you tried contacting ASUS yet? The symptom you've described seemed to be unrelated to your components so ASUS should still be able to service it.

    Also xotic should be able to sort the process out for you, just send it in to them and they will ensure it gets serviced.
