And what about pricing? will they stay the same, like $1500 as a max for ASUS RoG?

Guys any information about the angle of viewing?

Most models are priced the same when they are released. My guess would be for around $1500 US you'll be able to purchase a new sandy bridge laptop with the a high quality 6000 or 7000 series ATI card when they launch - barring any additonal upgrades.

For the screen - side angle viewing does suffer from washout but its not terrible. If you check out this review video you can see that as the system is rotated you can still clearly make out the desktop:

Thanks for responding but still no luck. I went to the NVIDIA Control Panel and saw that it was already set to HDMI (Audio Enabled), but the sound is still playing out of the laptop speakers instead of the TV speakers. Can anyone help with this? I'm hoping its not a hardware problem.

I have done system recovery AGAIN (4 times now), and it is still picking up no wireless networks. Although when I'm starting up windows, I saw my network pop up for a second, and then disappear (only happened once). So something registered for a bit there... what properties do you mean?

couldnt seem to install my version of windows 7 64bit, kept loading up the 'first time loading windows' screen and then reset... although when I do recover windows, it discovers my wireless network, asks for its password, sets it to home network then continues booting up. WHen windows finally loads it just says cannot discover any wireless networks. Im just gonna call asus and get this sorted, pretty angry now!!

For the wifi issue, I had a similar problem until I realised that for the latest atheros drivers from asus site u MUST have wifi console on and running. Try that, maybe it helps.

To make sure we are on the same page, it's wireless console 3 that you have installed? IF it doens;t turn on, try reinstalling it and it should run on startup. When you click fn+f2 you should have a pop-up telling you if wifi+bt at enabled or disabled.

Then Go to Control Panel > Sounds

Your TV should be there and Pick it as a Default Playback. Like this :)

I got my Asus G53 today. The SSD is showing up as having 50.3 GB free out of 83.8 GB (90 GB OCZ Vertex). Where did the 33.5 GB go?! Help, I'm a noob!

is it clean install drive? If it's not I'm advice you to clean install it to get maximum performance.

Maybe your recovery partition swallow some space from your drive?

SO - an update with my poor wireless performance dilemma. I've been in contact with tech support, they were pretty sure it was my router that was the issue, I did a ping for 15 minutes with 1% loss, I also did a clean recovery (5 times now) with no avail, and my router has the latest firmware. There are 3 other computers in the house on wireless with no problems what so ever. Asus are now on holidays until the 5th Jan here in AUS. This is a down right pain in the .......

Do you have any antivirus or antispyware/malware software installed? If you do, try disabling it.

If Fn+F4 doesn't do it, uninstall and reinstall the atk package software.

Hey everyone. I'm a proud new owner of a G53JW. So far its pretty awesome. Hooked it up to my 60" HDTV and GTA IV looks and runs great. No complaints so far besides the screen. 1920x1080 makes everything really hard to see and read on a 15".

I'll be participating more in these forums in the future!

I'm thinking about getting this laptop, and I found that a few sites offer a free upgrade from 6GB DDR3 1066MHz to 8GB DDR3 1333MHz and was wondering if that would be better to get. That would give it the same specs as the ASUS G73JW-A1 I think, which is what my boyfriend recommended to me but I wanted to get something a bit smaller

has anyone managed/know how to get 120hz out of the HDMI output to another monitor? I have a Sony 42" Bravia 200hz/3D tv, and a Samsung 2233rz 120hz monitor. Neither of them will register at 120hz, only 60. Am I missing something here?

I was playing Mafia 2 (which ran great on max settings, no physx) and noticed the laptop get pretty hot. After playing for maybe 30 minutes, the gpu temp was 80C. Is this normal? I can't find any good threads about temps. 80 just sounds really hot to me because 100 is boiling point of water :p I'm making sure everything is running well

Hi everyone! I had just purchased the G53JW-3DE based on reviews and the members here on the forum! And I absolutely LOVE this laptop!! Now, for all of you G53 owners out there, Isn't the 'Asus' logo on the front lid supposed to light up along with the keyboard?

While I have no problems with the back-lit keyboard, I am quite sure the Asus logo is supposed to light up as well, unless anyone else knows different. The Fn+F4 button doesn't seem to have any effect on turning on the front logo. I know this is extremely minor, but I was just curious.

This is normal. Under a long gaming session in Dirt 2, I've seen my laptop get up to 85 C. (The fan kicks up at 85 C and I've never seen it go over that.)

Great. Is there a way to manually adjust the fan speed? I don't think Speed Fan will work.

Edit- I just realized the hinge is really noisy. When I open the laptop, it creaks quite loud. Does anyone have this problem? I was thinking maybe WD-40 or something.

Edit 2- My idle CPU temp is about 50C and my idle GPU is 46C. Is that normal/good? I don't know if I should get a cooler.

Question? Anyone experience sudden drop in Texture Fillrate? from 28.4GT to 20.9 GT. (Check with GPU-Z) Suddenly lost 7.5 GT of Texture Fill rate and this is with the latest driver (260.99)

I'm debating getting a cooler myself, those temps are fine but anytime you can make something run cooler it will always perform better and last longer. I'm probably going to get a mesh stand with no fan since it keeps itself cool on its own.

Or you could try to get one that has a small quiet fan that could get air into the slot on the bottom for ram and HDD. But this probably won't change GPU/CPU temps since they are on top of the motherboard under the left/right corners of the keyboard.

The hinge on mine is silent though.

Look at the First Post. I got the same result with 28.4 GT. I've been thinking maybe it's just throttling.@_@

I was super excited for this when I saw it only cost $1300 compared to the $1700 for the G73. However, the biggest deal-breaker is the change in material for the G53. Why the hard plastic!!! I don't see the logic in using the hard plasticy-crap material when the soft gummy material was so popular on the G73. It set the laptop apart from so many other laptops. Oh well, guess I will have to spend the extra $400 on the G73 :D

Is there a way to underclock the GPU while on battery? MSI Afterburner says its underclocked, but GPU-Z says nothing has changed.

Also, any threads on conserving battery life?

EDIT- Nevermind about the underclocking. I looked under sensors in GPU-Z and found it is underclocked.

hey there, waiting for the A1 to come my way...

I'm confused about something in the mean time, it is possible to use
to HDMI and VGA at the same time?

I wish to plug the laptop into 2 screens (24, 32 in) when not travelling...

will I need some kind of special devices to perform that?
