Windows update still thinks my drivers are outdated on my wi-fi but when i go into the device manager and look under the wi-fi driver model it shows that i have the latest driver. What should i do just ignore windows update. I wonder why windows still thinks that i have outdated wi-fi drivers...

Ok, thanks, I was able to get the driver installed by updating from the device manager pointing to the ATI dir but the CCC doesn't work, when I attempt to install again it showed all the components as installed & working but the CCC was not on the list. I'm presently attempting to get Windows 7 SP1 upgraded which I've been working on since Tuesday with little success. I decided to go back to a Acronis backup OS install from December to see if it would work better, success or fail I will give your install a try afterward.

Edit: The same result with your ATI Catalyst 11.3 (03/29/2011), installs, Installation complete (warnings occurred during instillation) View log, Viewed log, no errors listed, went back to the Device Manager and pointed/updated that way still no CCC & Windows 7 SP1 to for that matter & way too much time spent on these this week sadly.

If I were experiencing that and were going to restore an old backup anyway, I'd try doing a full removal of the driver including control panel, driversweeper or drivercleaner.net, uninstalling the graphics adapter from device manager + checking the delete software box before trying to install again.

I have been using driversweeper between each install actually but this time I tried uninstalling the adapter/driver before installing & it did indeed work, Thanks!

They seem to be changing the filenames a lot, and I can't keep up with it. Best bet is to just follow the links "Check here for Intel RST updates", "Check here for Intel chipset and MEI updates", etc. near the bottom of the first post to grab the ones that are redirecting. That's how I get these updates in the first place anyway.

is it better to use the ASUS graphic driver?..because i read some of the people says that their frame rates in the games have gotten slower when they update to the latest ATI 11.3 ..i just think(opinion) that ASUS drivers are better because they know the capability and what to do on the laptop drivers because it is own by them.

Not that I would know, but I doubt there are any differences between the ASUS driver and the generic (of the same Catalyst version). So if you want newer drivers, go with generic. The few times I have used the ASUS driver, there were no additional features or settings available; actually, the only difference I could tell was that the card was listed as a 5730 instead of "5700 series."

They won't bother improve the code or anything until serious bugs are reported. Asus moved all attentions to the 2nd-Gen Core series already.

Can be sure they dropped support since the lack of updates for system drivers. My old crap HP and Dell had atleast 2 years of support so bleh Asus.

Btw that SRS Premium Sound CP for N61 is very exclusive, can't find it anywhere else but from Asus site noted 'SRS Realtek Audio Driver'.

I'm confused about the audio drivers. The latest listed in this thread are 6.0.1.6282, but when I click the link where they come from, Asus has a large number of drivers listed that are newer. A lot of them have widely varying file sizes though. Is the one listed here the latest for the N61? How can you tell? And is there a separate download for the SRS enhancement?

I only post the drivers that contain the SRS enhancement. That generic audio page contains audio drivers for all ASUS laptops; not all are compatible with the N61JQ.

It could just be a fluke. Try again? Or maybe uninstall 11.4 first?

I have discovered something that may be important enough to add to the original post regarding the audio drivers.

I'm sure everybody notices that the Realtek drivers that include SRS are very out of date as compared to the ones that do not include SRS.

I think I have found a way around that, however. I installed the latest drivers that included SRS (6.0.1.6282), and then I downloaded the driver package for the latest drivers (6.0.1.6348) and I went into device manager and right clicked on the Realtek HD audio device and pressed update driver and selected the option to manually locate it.

I pointed it to the Vista64 folder in the latest driver package, and it successfully installed the 6.0.1.6348 drivers, while maintaining the Realtek control panel with SRS, which still functions perfectly.

There's only one driver for the multi-core CPUs which was finalized since dualcore was introduced. So yes is normal and you won't see driver updates for the CPU unlike the old times.

As for the chipset drivers is unnecessary to install in most cases. Generally only use it if some hardwares can't be detect by the OS, it does not update CPU driver.

    stevedogg,
ever since you started this thread, the first intention of every new day since has been to come and check in here for updates (with of course exceptions for a few days here and there).

but i would frequent this place every now and then,
once early morning just when i wake up, before i brush,
once sometime in the evening when i am free and wishful,
and finally once just before i force myself to sleep,

this is a really bad habit, but then again i am expectant of updates.
always scrolling down the page to see if your post has been updated.

the joy that comes from seeing new updates is something undefinable. but to give it a word, i would strongly assert that it is exhilarating.

i do want you to remember that there is this one little crazy N61JQ owner who is poking away at this minute space that exists on the world wide web.

He is really fond of you contribution to the forum and will remain ever-expectant.
