well the kind of burns that the OP suffered happen due to overlong exposure to high temps. It's not really a matter of the notebook being scorching hot, but more because of the skin being exposed to medium/warm temps for too long a period. this also happens a lot to people who use heating pads for too long.

I'd be more worried about sterility.

If you are male, using a notebook on your lap for prolonged periods will negatively impact your ability to reproduce.

Then again...who knows what girls think when they see an Apple logo on your notebook, could be the increase in reproductive opportunities outweighs the decrease in sperm virility.

Also wearing tight jeans for prolonged periods might have a negative effect down there. As for the Apple logo leading to more "reproductive opportunities", you need more than that to increase your chances...

Temps on my late 07 MBP, 2.2 SR model.
Been on for a few hours, nothing too intensive, on battery. Ambient temp is about 18c according to the Weather widget thing. Fans on the default 2000rpm.

It is funny how guys with Apple notebooks also tend to wear tight jeans as well. I guess having children someday is totally overrated.
