^^^ man congrats, glad you got a perfect system. enjoy

Any ideas on whether the 240 is really a 1 gig card, and if so, why it's being announced as 512Mb, InappropriateName? -
yeah it has 1 gig memory, but the clocks are lower, so for gaming it really isn't that great but for other apps like photoshop for example does benefit from it. i'm only guessing they report it as 512 because they want to justify the difference in price between the 2 cards. btw did you do the happy dance yet? it mandatory for all M15x owners, lol.

What version of gpu-z you running? i have ver. 0.3.8 (says it up top)Attached Files:

man it looks like i may have to buy 3dmark now since i've been infected with the oc bug, lol.
-

I don't play any (heavy) games, and my software seems to work smoother and faster than on my previous laptop, so it's definitely better. I think this card is perfect for me. I can understand gamers wanting/needing the fastest possible card, but I don't think I would actually benefit much from the 260. -

anyway are u using the same ver. of gpu-z? mine doesn't have that problem..
EDIT:
So are you really flashing? i don't think i will...as i'm happy with my OC for now...i can still probably push it even more, but haven't really tried... I'm tired of watching the same damn graphic tests over and over for now lol...Also, about the artifacts...apparently if you experience no distortion in the benchmarks, games etc... and the only place you experience them is in ati-tool, there could be a possiblity that your clocks are stable, but there is much debate about this...(i read a thread on the author saying how its outdated). However, he did say that even though its outdated... if it doesn't show artifacts on ati-tool at all, as well as everywhere else...then you clocks are pretty much rock solid. I say if it artifacts in ati-tool, then its because your card isn't 100% stable, maybe 95%, but not 100%... and although in the short-run you won't notice anything, maybe in the long run you will... ex: playing games for a while...
As i'm not benching but OCing for real-time game performance, my clocks are fine, and even if i push them a tiny it further, it won't give me any real-time game performance so it's pointless in my opinion. -

Your overall computing experience regarding booting, loading apps, etc etc (disk based stuff) will improve incredibly. Not only does the SSD provide great speed (200+MBs) but the access times are so low that many basic loading or booting times are really reduced immensely.
Not sure if I would pay $500 - better to buy one seperately - personally I think OCZ is the brand to go for (or Intel, Kingston, Samsung). Make sure it has the TRIM function!! (otherwise it's an obsolete drive, basically) -
I only ordered mine like 3 days ago so I still have a good 2 maybe 3 weeks. Watch me get one that someone sent back.

GPU OC to 675/1125/1625 100% solid. No artefacts on ati tool what so ever.. and checked it for 70 minutes. Temp maxed at 70 when running ATI tool. But when I increase my shader clock any further (1640) i began to notice artefacts( very rare though like you spot a yellow spot once in a duration of 10 minutes).
Can squeeze more from the core clock and memory though... -

Damn expensive.. I was looking to buy a 23-24' LED Monitor as well.. Can't buy both of these... What do you guys say.... Hmm..... Monitor will be alot cheaper and lighter on my pocket... But still any comments... -
I might even try a game or two!Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
For those that are interested I posted a link to a utility to allow forcing an app (on startup) to only use specific cores.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=6031397
Games that can only max out 4 threads (most) benefit from being forced to use the REAL cores (0 2 4 6). This seems to be fairly widely accepted on i7, not sure about i5 but probably the same. -
Does anybody know if the M15X it's available with solid state drive Sata 2 or it is just Sata 1?
ANd it would be awsome if the M15X included the ATI HD 5870 Graphics, does anybody know when it will be included as an option ?
thank you -
-
Yea i used to be a huge ati supporter, but nvidia has been good to me so far.... i doubt 5870's will ever be an option in the M15x though... maybe the m17x r-3 lol....anyways i cant see what im wiritng now its wedsnesday night..st patricks day and i just got back from a pub and had th best time pf my life for a wednesday nite AWESOME,,,,i think i better go to bed now...everythings spinning....can't believe i made it home alive! learn from me kids... i am acompletely irresponsible and am a bad example. dont drink and dirve...and dont do drugs...i laerned the hard way ( and continue to learn each n every day hehehe). gd niyyt all...see yall tomorrow when i can see straight ....DONT JUDGE lollllllllllll

When trying to OC my GPU with NST I keep getting a "The changes made were invalid and will not be applied" popup. Im runing NST Ver 1.5.2400.18 and 195.62 driver. Anyone else getting this problem?
-
anyone tried metro 2033 on a M15x?
-
Anyway, does anyone think my build (see below) will be able to handle AVCHD editing in Premiere Pro? -
Can't get sata1 SSD drives now. It would be limited to ~160MB/s so very very unlikely. If they are giving out SSD Sata1 then probably people would be complaining about it. I know I would at that price (I bought one seperately). -

Try Uninstalling the driver and when you remove it from the device manager.. Select the option to delete the driver files from the computer as well.
Restart...
Install the driver (download from nvidia.com)
Restart Again..
It should work now...
Best of LUCK for OC ur GPU...
Jstarnino managed a 100% stable clock of 675/1100/1670 (AWESOME!!!)
I managed a 100% stable clock of 680/1130/1650 last night did all the testing ( ATI tool artefact testing 70 min, Resident Evil 5 Benchmark)....
Inappropriatename_3 managed 600/1100/1650 .. I think .. More testing in progress..
Mr Pras has a stable clock of 660/950/1650..
(Correct me if I am wrong guys Just summing it all up Mauigideon) -

oh btw guys, the M15x touchpad is actually excellent (despite my complaints earlier on). Its just the drivers, and the polling rate. Synaptics performs worse than windows drivers.
However, when I run Linux (specifically Linux Mint x64) on my M15x, the touchpad is smooth as. Synaptics really need to refresh their drivers a bit. -
Sucks this still didnt fix it. Still getting the errors... -

The second one was an OCZ Solid 2 for £240 (128GB)
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/home/product/44733/OCZ-128GB-Solid-2-Series-2-5--SSD-MLC-Flash
Actually, I think the 250GB are cheaper in Holland, now I look again they are all £500+.. Hmm, perhaps the $500 for a 256GB SSD is worth it after all.
It wasn't available here in the UK but maybe if it was I would have got one direct from them if it was around £325 ($500).. -
195.62 drivers for your 260m
and NST ver. 2.1.320.00
That should do it. Also, make sure you follow WhiteWiz' steps for unintalling/installing the drivers. Let me know if it worked out
BTW, sorry for my last post guys...last night got a little...ummm how should i say this...out of hand...lol -

BOO to Ricoh.. 2 years and no update to work with modern computers?
Sorry, but that really gets on my wick. A great computer like this with a crappy Ricoh card reader.. Fix it fix it fix it fix it fix it aaargh
Oh never mind, I just waste one of the few USB slots on a card reader. -

finally fired up my ps3 again, haven't play on that for ages. played god of war 3 for awhile, had to get use to using a controller again. man god of war 3 is awesome. do you guys know any similar games for pc, i mostly play fps on my M15x, any recommended non fps games?
-
thewhitewizard Notebook Evangelist
If you lIke god of war you will definitely like prince of persia .. I didn't like the last one though.. I prefer the previous versions... But god of war is more action packed...
Have u tried mordern warfare 2... Its nice as well but u get bored after couple weeks...
Any reviews on bad company 2.... Suppose to be good... -
^^^ man the first 15-20 minutes of god of war 3 is crazy good. yeah i play 1 and 2 also and both are great. yeah also play the last prince of persia too but was really boring to me, too many puzzles and not enough action. i pretty much have all the shooting games already, bad company is really good, but wished it was more optimized like wm2 is. but trying to find another similar game to god of war. thanks for the help.
-
-
^^^ yeah i've been using that version, should work for you also.
-
Ok, tried to find this in this behemoth of a thread but .
Does anyone know the make and model of the SSD that Dell sells with the m15x?
Thanks.

Got my replacement M15x yesterday (the 4th one) and there are 3 HUGE dead pixels in the middle of the screen.
I am now getting my 5th, YES 5th replacement laptop. My ordering process started in mid january! LOL, this is comical.
I am cursed by my pickiness. The quest for the perfect M15x continues! -
^^^ man i wish i can get a new lappy every few weeks, lol. yeah i feel ya, when your spending this kind of cash you would have to expect perfection. but man 5 lappies, you got to be seriously picky or unlucky.
