I used that M17 OSD mod on my M17 when i had it ... Very cool stuff ..
So the revised one works on the M15x ?... -
Yeah he made a M15x version for me. Using it now.
-
Yeah i installed it ... Good stuff ...
-
what exactly is this?
-
It's just some modded osd icons.
-
Can we see them
-
ya i'd like to see as well....
-
Just download them, just jpegs so you can preview them, if you like it then backup your old icons, then replace it with the new ones.
-
Yeah they are cool but its not like your staring at the OSD icons all the time lol... Its just nice the person took the time to do them is the main thing ...

I was thinking the peer pressure had to get the best of you eventually -
This week for sure!
Got my MX-3 in the mail today and my 920XM is coming Monday, I don't think I've ever been this excited to order a laptop -
added Maintenance section. Can anyone link me the thread to the battery info? I cant find it.
-
battery info? i'm using battery care, do you want that?
BatteryCare -
guys,
im about to order the M15x but have 1 final problem
what friggin colour to buy, they all look good.
does anyone think the red is best.
from videos that ive seen the black looks a bit finger magnet,
silver could look a bit oldish
the red could look a bit girlish
can someone comment please -
If you have the cash I'd choose the red. It looks better and resale value will be better.
-
i have the black, but i've seen silver in person and it looks real nice. almost gunmetal, if i had a choice again i would probably got silver.
-
thanks for quick response.
im on chat now with dell.
hope i can get a great deal
in uk no extra for red.
i think its between silver or red. mrs likes red.
edit.
i want keys to be yellow to remind me of the laptops in aliens, albiet the screen was yellow but i think you get the idea
im glade the insides are black when you open it..... -
not getting a lot of discount about £60 anyone else get better or is that about right.
£15 cash and £45 bigger hd -
ok seems good enough,
and silver is the one for me.....
the keys are silverish so matches very nicely when power lights are off. -
wow nice congrats, sorry to respond so late but its a good idea to call to a few reps before buying, some are willing to deal more then others.

I am having issues with the workaround fix for the driver. When I change it to false and attempt to save and replace, it says access is denied.
Edit: Nevermind, it let me just move the current install file out and I was able to "Save as" the file in that folder. -
Nevermind on all of that. The drivers and CCC were installed, but it's not recognizing my 5850, and the max resolution is 1400 x 900 (native 1900 x 1080.
-
Did you fully uninstall the old drivers and reboot before trying to install the new drivers ?....
Try these...
http://forum.notebookreview.com/6388616-post18.html -
Edit: Ok that download froze at 99% and would not finish. I went to the ATI site and downloaded 10.6 from there. However, when I open the InstallManage file, the Workaroundinstall value is already set to false. Anyone with an explanation? -
I'm good to go! Apparently you have to change it from FALSE to TRUE, not the other way around as the OP suggested. Not saying he/she was wrong, but that worked for me.
-
yup wattos you gotta edit that. nice catch josh.
-
Ha! No worries. New question! How does one make it to where the touchpad disables when I plug in my gaming mouse into the USB port?
-
You have to install the Synaptic drivers for that to work....
-
Awe, that sucks! The touchpad is so sketchy using those drivers.
-
I know but like you i want my touchpad disabled and thats the easiest alternative...
I so rarely used the touchpad it really didnt matter what driver i had installed for it as i would only use it in a pinch ... -

wattos. Thanks for the awesome guide. i got mine yesterday and its amazing. its the first true gaming laptop ive had and so far i havnt been disappointed. everything i needed to get set up was all here. +rep
-
Offtopic: Anyone know why it says "You must spread rep around some more before you can rep XXXXXX." when I try and rep someone? I've been trying to rep many different folks, but that pops up every time. -
argyle_gargoyle Notebook Consultant
i think you have to rep a certain # of people after you give some +rep before you can add for them agian. i pretty much did what it said and spread it around and then it allowed me to give wattos more.
-
-
just gave all the rep to me and i'll spread it for ya. lol
-
Or is this part:
"ALSO NOTE: It is highly recommended that you uninstall your current driver and run a tool like CCleaner + reboot before proceeding with the driver install"
Also recommended for Nvidia? -
i like your work !
thx -
-
and for all drivers for that matter, to avoid conflicts with older drivers when installing newer ones. Get into the habbit or running CC cleaner+rebooting with every change you make to your computer. It'll ensure things run nice and smoothly.
-
What do you guys think of these specs?
Intel® Core™ i5 Processor 540M(2.53GHz,3MB cache)
1 year of coverage included with your PC
No Accidental Damage Support
1GB ATI® Radeon™ HD 5850
4096MB 1333MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [2x2048]
250GB (7,200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive
15.6-inch Wide HD+ (1600 x 900) WLED display
DVD+/-RW (DVD, CD read and write) Slot Load Drive
6-cell 56Whr Lithium Ion battery
I hope this is an OK place to ask. -
Nice lil setup...if it fits your budget... only thing id say is get the 1080p lcd ... since its the only thing you CAN'T upgrade later on.
-
Do you think it would be enough to get me through University for 3 years? I'll be using software like Adobe After Effects and Maya.
I'll see if I can fit it into my budget, but I'm poor at the moment lol, Plus I was told that 1080 would look weird on such a small screen? -
everything looks good to me, even if you do need more power later on you can upgrade the cpu for pretty cheap. the screen is up to you, i love my 1080 but you will hear different from everyone.
-
amen. And it by no means looks weird. Its actually the nicest/Sharpest screen i've ever seen. How sharp you ask? It has the same amount of pixels as my big screen TV. except its 15.6", and my tv is 46".
But besides looking perty, and being able to fit more on the screen because of the higher res, the 900p is just as gorgeous.
Either way, it'll be the best laptop you've ever owned.
